A Pretty Lazy Day After Such A Busy Weekend!!

This morning I was still feeling exhausted when I woke up to get my son ready for school. My daughter was still super tired as well!! After I dropped my son off at school, I texted the mom of his friend who’s birthday party he was at, because he went swimming at that party and his goggles weren’t in his swimming bag. She couldn’t find them at her house though. So, I told her that I would go by the Aquafit centre and check the lost and found later today. I had something to eat, then I went upstairs to my room. My daughter was still sleeping, she was so tired from yesterday that I let her sleep in this morning. I washed my face and brushed my teeth, because I was so tired when I got up with my son that I didn’t do that earlier! Then I went on my phone for a while. My daughter came into my room a while later and asked me to drive her to school. After I dropped her off, I came home and actually napped for a while. My hubby came home from work early. I guess that his friend that he car-pools with had a dr’s appointment this afternoon. He had a quick shower, then went to the city to find the correct type of plastic to replace the window on the back of the convertible window of the Miata. I stayed in bed on my phone for a bit. Then I got up and made a small grocery list. I got dressed and went and picked up my daughter from school. My son said that he wanted to walk home. I dropped my daughter off at home, then I drove to the pool and looked through the lost and found. His goggles weren’t there though. From there I went to Shoppers. I had them start getting my daughter’s prescription ready and I bought a couple things that I needed. Then I went to Sobeys and bought the groceries I needed. I went home from there. I guess that my son forgot that he said he was going to walk home and he was waiting to be picked up. After a while, when neither my hubby, nor I came he remembered saying that he was going to walk! My girls were beginning to wonder where he was though!! I put the groceries away and got my pjs on. Then I put some laundry into the wash and folded my younger daughter’s clean clothes and brought them up to her. I also opened up the windows in my bedroom and bathroom, because it was really nice outside today, so I thought that the fresh air would be nice! I didn’t have to drive my daughter to dance, because dance is usually canceled the day after competition, to give the dancers and the teachers and the parents a break! My oldest daughter and I went to the Sobeys quickly, so she could get some Gatorade and a couple of other things. Then we went to Shoppers so she could pick up the prescriptions and her face wash and a few other things that she was out of. Today is the first day that she has gone anywhere since her surgery! We went back home and I made supper, well I got things ready, then the kids made their own pizzas. Then we ate supper. It was a bit late though, because the kitchen was pretty messy, so it was hard for me to get started without cleaning a few things first, which took some time! After supper, my oldest daughter and I watched a show, then I got my son into bed and read to him. We’re reading the original chapter book that the first How To Train Your Dragon movie was based on. We just started it, but so far it’s good!! Then I went on my phone! Now I’m going to get ready for bed!

Santana Dance Competition Day 4

This morning I woke up early yet again. It was about 7:30 when I woke up. I got ready to go to the final and our busiest day of the Santa Dance Competition. The drive wasn’t bad, because it was a Sunday and traffic isn’t bad early Sunday mornings. We also found parking fairly easily again!! So, we lucked out every day of the competition! My daughter’s first dance of the day was her hip hop dance. I sat with one of the mom’s that I really like and usually sit with. Then I texted my mom to let her and my dad know where we were sitting. They joined us when they got there, which wasn’t that long after I had texted her!! The hip hop went really well! My daughter’s group received gold and first place! Then the younger group from Amanda’s, called AAOD Airways, also received gold and got second and won the choreographers award for the category!! We stayed in the theatre and ny daughter and her friends also sat in the theatre after dancing to watch a full category of Amanda’s hip hop solos. There were literally only Amanda’s dancers in the entire category!! Afterwards, we went to get something to eat really quickly. We wanted to watch her friends tap solo. So I bought a couple muffins and we quickly went to the van, where my daughter had a sub from the other day (my parents had their own sandwiches in their car!!) However, my daughter’s sub ended up being soggy… so she ate the granola bar that my mom gave me and I ate one of the muffins. Then we went back inside. We literally went into the theatre and sat down just as her friend went on stage and began her dance. Then we watched the end of that category. We left the theatre once it was finished and she took a muffin and her drink and went back to the dressing room to get ready for her two lyrical dances. My mom texted me to tell me approximately where they were sitting, so I went to sit with them. We watched a few things, then my younger nieces tap group came on. They did really well. We watched some solos and some more tap groups, the same age as my niece. One of them was an Amanda’s group called Swing, that ended up winning the adjudicator’s choice tap group for the entire weekend!! (Which we didn’t end up finding out until the end of the night!!) Then my daughter’s lyrical category started. There were 3 dancers before their first dance in the performance division, then their first dance was falling, which is her senior 1 lyrical. This is the dance with the 8 foot high ramp that is about 4 feet wide and has a flat platform on top that they can stand on, with a bar that they grab. So, they run up the ramp and grab the bar then step onto the platform. They do some sort of dance step on the platform, my daughter actually does a leg lift while standing on the ramp…you can also climb up the back to get onto the platform, which is what 3 of the girls do at the beginning of the dance. Anyway, they began the dance and the girls did their first steps up on the platform, then they slide under the bar, holding onto it and they’re supposed to let go of it and slide down the ramp…unfortunately four of the screws snapped!!! And it began to slide down with them!! 1 of the girls quickly jumped off the side and out of the way, the girl in the middle also slid down quickly and got out of the way just in time, but the the third girl started to get up and the platform hit the back of her legs! The entire audience gasped! Some of the girls on stage stopped dancing, some continued, they didn’t know what to do, they were all clearly upset, Miss Amanda called them off the stage from the side. It was super scary!! My daughter is one of the dancers who spends the most time on the ramp, but she doesn’t start on the ramp!! The dads came back out and lifted the piece back up, but it looked broken. It was difficult to tell from the audience. We found out afterwards that they didn’t put it together correctly the first time…one side ended up being cracked. He was using a drill, a lot, and the audience was cheering. Then Taylyr (the boy in a bunch of my daughter’s classes) went down each side a couple times to make sure it held. Also, I couldn’t see this, but there were to guys on each side, underneath, holding it together for the whole dance. (This sounds like a long description, but this all happened quite quickly…) Also, my daughter told me that they were all crying and scared and that none of them wanted to go back out there and do it again, because they were scared to go on the ramp now… Anyway, the announcer said something like, “Let’s clear all of that negative energy and welcome these beautiful dancers back onto the stage, Please welcome, Falling!” (My daughter also told me that the announcer was the same lady that Miss Amanda brought into the studio last year who taught them meditation techniques and calming techniques, so she was trying to calm them all down before they went back on stage.) So, they came back out and danced it beautifully, without any accidents or mishaps, my daughter said that their tears and fear probably helped with the emotion, because some of them were still crying when they went back on stage! (I guess that if the ramp is cracked it will have to get fixed before the next competition!!) There were about 4 other dances in the category I think, it was such a long day that it’s hard to remember!! My older nieces class was one of them! Then my daughter’s senior 3 lyrical dance was the last dance in the category. This is the one where they dance with the sheet (that’s sort of like a parachute) and at the last competition it fell off the stage!! This dance is called The Village. They danced beautifully as well! And, no sheet falling off of the stage!! Yay!! During the adjudication the adjudicator commended them (in Falling) for working as a team and having each other’s backs and for having the courage to come back out onto the stage and dance again after the ramp broke like that!! Then she gave them high gold and first place and choreographers award!!! WooHoo!! I had tears in my eyes, it was pretty scary and then when they called out Miss Amanda for the choreographers award she was crying and most of the dancers were also crying on the stage!! Also, my daughter’s other group also received high gold and got second place!! So, they really did incredibly well in that category!! It’s late and I’m rambling, I’m going to try to speed things up here…We went out to stretch our legs for a bit and I saw my daughter. I hugged her and told her how incredible she did. They were all pretty emotional still. It was pretty scary for them. They could hear it cracking and crashing down as they were dancing!! We looked at the photos and you could see it falling down in slow motion and see the girls trying to get out of the way…kind of crazy! You also see their faces!! My daughter had to get ready for her next dance. We went back in and watched some jazz solos, a couple of my daughter’s friends. We probably watched some other things, I can’t remember it all!! Then it was my daughter’s modern category. There were only 3 groups in the category, so it was a small one! My daughter was second, I’m pretty sure my older niece was first. My daughter’s group did way better than they did at the last competition! They aren’t as confident with this dance as they are with their lyrical and jazz, but it was definitely much better! It was cleaner and easier to follow. It looked pretty to watch! They received a high gold and got second in the category! Another group got first, they were from Devon and it was a good dance and my niece’s dance got third. We had a long enough break after this that my daughter changed and we went to the Wendy’s/Timmy’s with my mom and dad for supper. Then we went back to the theatre. My dad found parking fairly easily. Back inside my daughter went back to the dressing room to get ready for her jazz dances. We went into the theatre. We watched some modern solos. Then we watched my younger nieces modern group. They did really well. Then we watched some younger jazz groups, Amanda’s groups did great! Finally the last category of day was my daughter’s jazz category! What a very long day!! My daughter’s first group was her senior 1 jazz Lady G. they were amazing!! They were absolutely on fire tonight!! They did so well! The audience was cheering like crazy!! They were very in sync with each other and they just did awesome! It was fun to watch!! My older niece was also in this category. My daughter’s second jazz dance, senior 3 jazz, Just Say was the second last in the category and they also did amazing!! Both groups were full of energy and really brought it tonight! There was just something about Lady G. tonight. They were just so great! The adjudicator must have agreed, because she gave them a high gold, first place and choreographers award! My daughter’s second group, Just Say also received a high gold and took second place! My niece’s group got third place. That was the final category of the entire competition! Then there were overall awards for the entire weekend. They actually went through them fairly quickly, last year they took a photo with the adjudicator with every person who was still there to receive an award! And, let me tell you, we got home very late!! Tonight, thank goodness, they did not do that!! Amanda’s did really well with the final awards! Miss Amanda already sent out an email with all of the awards on it, but I won’t list them all! We just won quite a few, with every award you win, throughout the weekend and then including the final ones, they give you an overall score. Then they add up all of the scores for the top 3 studios from the weekend. The third wins $200, the second wins $500 and the top studio wins $1000!! And this year, we won top studio!! They had the kids bang on the stage for a drumroll and then announced that Amanda’s Academy of Dance was this year’s top studio!! WooHoo!! The kids were really excited and the youngest ones that were still there went up and got a huge trophy and Miss Amanda got the cheque! Then they took photos!! So they ended up having a great weekend, just the one dangerous mishap with the prop, that could have gone much worse than it did, one person got a bit scraped up, but not bad. The way they hang off of that, they are lucky that it broke when and how it did. It could definitely have been far worse… When it was all finished I took a few photos of them on the stage. Then I saw my daughter in the lobby. She said goodbye to my mom. Then she went to get changed and get her things from the dressing room. My parents went home. When she finished, we drove home, we got drinks on the way, neither of us was hungry, just tired and thirsty. We drove home. I hung up her costumes when we got home. She just threw a bunch of them into her costume bag. Her shoulder is in major pain, but she doesn’t know what she did to it. Not good… Now I’m sooo bloody beat and I have a brutal headache. I took my migraine medication, but it didn’t do squat! I’m off to bed!

Santana Dance Competition Day 3

This morning I woke up early again for the dance competition. My daughter likes to arrive early. The traffic on Anthony Henday was so much lighter than yesterday, which I suppose should have been obvious to me, since yesterday was a week day and during rush hour and today was the weekend!! So we arrived even earlier then we anticipated! We were easily able to find a spot in the free lot, which was nice! She only had ballet and pointe today and they were both in the same category. I talked with my sister and her friend for a few minutes and then they went into the theatre. They asked me to join them, but I was finishing my tea. My mom and dad came in just as I was finishing it, so I ended up sitting with them. We ended up sitting in the row just behind my sister. My younger niece had her ballet group in the category before my daughter’s. So we watched them dance first. They did very well. They got first place! Then my daughter received gold for both of her dances. Everyone in the category received gold except one group, who did exceptionally well, they received high gold! Actually, the entire category was quite good! There was definitely a lot of competition!! My older niece was in the same category and they got 3rd place. Since those were the only dances that my daughter had today, we left. I got her Wendy’s on the way home. I just had a small grilled chicken snack wrap, because I wasn’t feeling that hungry! Then we drove home. I was feeling super tired! So was my daughter! My son hadn’t left yet for the birthday party that he was going to, so my oldest daughter quickly helped him have a shower and I wrapped the present that we bought last night. Then my hubby drove him to the party. Both my younger daughter and I laid down and we each fell asleep for about 3 hours!! We were both conked!! Then she had me read a chapter in her English book, so that I could help her with her homework. She is doing assignments on The Life Of Pi. They had to Rewrite a chapter from the Tiger’s perspective. She was feeling confused, because she didn’t quite know how much consciousness to give the tiger. I tried to help her with ideas, but it’s really up to her interpretation… I went on my phone for a while. Then my oldest daughter and my son came upstairs and we talked for a while. My hubby made supper. So, I went downstairs and ate, although I wasn’t feeling really great! Then my younger daughter and I went to the Dollarama, to see if they had elastic, so I could try to do a temporary fix to her dance bra. It broke in rehearsal hall and we were just going to go to La Senza, but both South Common and Southgate closed at 6:00pm. Then we went to Shoppers and picked up a couple of things that we needed. Back at home, I made my oldest daughter some chocolate pudding that she was asking for. Then, while we watched our Mary Kondo show on Netflix, I fixed my younger daughter’s bra the best that I could. It will definitely work tomorrow and hold together, which is what matters!! Then I got my son ready and into bed. I went on my phone, wrote this and now I’m going to get ready for bed, because I have to get up early again. Tomorrow is our long day at the competition!!

Santana Dance Competition Day 2

This morning I had to wake up early, at about 6:30 to get ready for my daughter’s dance competition. We wanted to leave around 8:00 – 8:15 and I still had to get my son ready. So I got up early enough to get myself ready before I got him ready. He woke up while I was getting ready and went on the iPad. Then, I got him ready and we went downstairs. Once we were downstairs, I got his snack ready, he didn’t need a full lunch, just a snack, because he had hot lunch at a school. I had to wake up my oldest daughter to sit with him until it was time for him to walk to school, because my younger daughter and I had to go before it was time to go to school. He said that he would fine walking to school. He has walked home by himself numerous times!! So we said goodbye and left. We had to stop at the bank, because you always need cash. I also got my daughter and I some McDonald’s breakfast, even though it’s not the healthiest…because it’s fast and we left later then we had intended. Then we drove to the Arden Theatre in St Albert. I, by some kind of fluke, found parking in the free parking all day lot across the street!! Yay me!! I didn’t move my van for the rest of the day!! We went inside the theatre and I helped my daughter pin her bra to the back of her costume. Then she had to go back to rehearsal. I went and paid for a program and a pass and went into the theatre. By complete fluke, yet again, I went into the state right at the row where my parents were sitting!! They were in the middle of a tap solo category. My parents were at this competition because both my sister’s kids and my daughter are dancing in this one. My niece was dancing in this solo category. There were also quite a few of Amanda’s dancers. One of whom actually goes to the same school with my niece!! My niece is an exceptional tapper. She received a high gold in the category and took first place! The second and third both went to Amanda’s dancers, who each received golds. The one who got second was the one who is actually in the same school class as my niece! Afterwards, we went out into the lobby briefly and talked to my sister and my niece. She thought that she made all sorts of mistakes…none that were obvious to us or judge, obviously!! My sister and her went home, because they didn’t have to dance for quite a while and my sister’s oldest daughter was at school, but danced later in the day and they had to pick her up. My daughter’s solo was not long after though. There was only one category in between the two, so by the time we went back into the theatre, the small category in between the two was just ending!! My daughter’s lyrical solo category was huge!! There were something like 17 dancers!! The age started at 13 and went up to 18!! They divided it into 13 – 15 and 16 – 18, with a first, second and third in each; then a top 3 overall who received scholarships. My daughter did a great job! She received a silver. I thought that she should have gotten a gold, both Miss Alexis and Miss Amanda apparently told her the same thing!! She said that she felt good about it, which is important. I said that her teacher’s opinions are more important! She wasn’t that upset or anything, which was good. Also, it was such a huge category and there was a lot of tough competition!! There were some exceptional dancers in the category. When they were finished, my dad and mom drove us to Subway, so that we could pick up some lunch and bring it back with us. That way we didn’t lose our good parking spot. They were going home anyway, so they dropped us off and we went back inside and they left. We ate, then we watched two sisters from Amanda’s (both her friends) do a beautiful solo that is about breast cancer that they dedicated to their mom. This is her 10th anniversary of being cancer free since having breast cancer. This will be the only duo that they ever do together and it’s quite lovely. Watching it brings tears to your eyes. Especially when you know that it’s true. Also, because it’s the one mom that I’m probably the closest to at the studio. It was a wonderful dance. They received gold and second. It makes you wish that the adjudicator knew that it was a true story for them and not just a random song that they chose…After that category we watched some little guys do hip hop. They were awfully cute!! Our little group took first place and was the only group to get a gold!! Then my daughter had to go back to rehearsal hall for her next dance. So, I stayed in the theatre and watched some junior tap solos our little girl took first place, she’s just amazing, she totally stands out at all of the competitions!! She’s 2 years younger then everyone else and looks so tiny up on stage, but she just kills it!! It’s too cute!! After that there was another fairly big lyrical solo category (pretty popular style) and there were about 4 or 5 of Amanda’s dancers in it. One of the moms came in at this point and was sitting with me. So we watched this category together. We didn’t really agree with the adjudicator on this category, interestingly enough, just like during my daughter’s lyrical category… she picked people that I thought were kind of meh and then people whom I thought totally stood out she would give a silver to…so strange! Not that I have years of dance training, but you can certainly hear the mumbling around the audience to know that the two of us weren’t the only ones who had differing opinions!! And, it wasn’t just Amanda’s dancers, just certain dancers that seemed to totally stand out, would receive a silver and then dancers that seemed a bit immature or who made no eye contact and showed zero emotion (for a lyrical solo – which is all about emotion) she would give a gold to!! So strange! Anyway, the next category was the category that our daughter’s were in, their Oh The Terrors dance, their production – oh right, I was going to check what it’s actually called, I think it’s Musical Theatre Large Group or Line (I’m not sure if it’s a large group or a line…). Anyway, they did AMAZING!! Like they always do in this category! It’s just such a fun dance to watch! I know my daughter told my parents not to bother watching it, that it’s okay if they go home, but it’s incredible!! It’s so entertaining! You really don’t want to miss it! It’s just so good! The adjudicator was blown away!! She was cheering and thanking Amanda for entertaining her and for all her hard work and for instilling in every single dancer the importance of face and spacing and timing and being together and performance quality…she couldn’t stop gushing about it. It really is quite an amazing performance. It looks professional. They’re so on the ball and in time with each other. It’s just very very well done. They received high gold, choreographers award and overall choreographers award for the day!! So Amanda was very happy about that!! After that dance, we were finished for the day. My daughter came out front to get the group photo taken, then went back to the dressing room to change. She took a while longer than normal, because she couldn’t find one of her shoes!! I was just heading back to help her when she texted me to tell me that she found it!! It was almost out the door of the dressing room! It looked like someone must have thought it was theirs and, thankfully, realized that it wasn’t, but just kicked it off by the door. At least it wasn’t gone! Those are her Vans that she wears for her hip hop class and they weren’t cheap shoes… She finally did come out and we went to the van and started to drive home. We stopped at a Husky on the way to get something to drink, because we were both very thirsty. Then we drove home. Once we were home, I was feeling exhausted. She was stressed about English homework that was due tonight by midnight. My son and I went to Shoppers and I bought my daughter face wipes and we bought a birthday present for the party that he’s going to tomorrow. Then we came back home. We had supper. Then my son and I played a game for about an hour. Then I went upstairs and steamed my daughter’s pointe costume. Then I got her stuff ready for tomorrow, her correct shoes, tights, costumes, bras, makeup, etc. So that she didn’t have to worry about doing that like she usually does and she could do her English homework. She still only got half of it finished. She had a super bad headache and was really tired. So she went to bed. Then I got myself ready for bed and my son ready for bed. Now I’m actually going to go to bed, because I’m sooo exhausted and I have to get up really early! Thankfully tomorrow she only has her regular ballet and her pointe. Sunday is her crazy day…she has Hip Hop, Modern, 2 Lyrical dances and 2 Jazz dances…so yes, we will be there ALL day Sunday! However, tomorrow she can finish her English and then get ready for Sunday, the crazy busy day!! I mean only 6 out of her 10 dances are on Sunday…sigh!

Final Time Filling Out High School Registration Forms For My Youngest Daughter!! Wow!!😮

This morning after I dropped off my son at school, my daughter texted me from her room and asked me to fill up her water bottle for her. So I did that for her. She went back to sleep. She seemed to be doing well at that point. I had some oatmeal. I was feeling pretty tired myself, so I did a bit of laundry. Then I went upstairs and had a sleep. I woke up for a while. I looked over the competition times for tomorrow. The competition that my daughter is in actually begins today, but she doesn’t have any dances until tomorrow. Then she has her solo and Oh The Terrors, which is their production, although I don’t think that they call it production this year, I believe that they are calling it musical theatre line or something along those lines. I can check in the book tomorrow. We plan on leaving pretty early in morning. She doesn’t dance that early, but we are at a theatre that we aren’t used to with a reputation for having horrible parking (and I remember that it did have crappy parking from a couple of years ago!!) So, we definitely want to give ourselves time. Also, Amanda warmed everyone that this competition often runs early and if you’re not there it doesn’t matter, the competition continues on without you!! I wrote all of her times down, so that when I get the book it will be easy to go through and highlight her spots tomorrow. Then I had something small to eat. I really wasn’t feeling well. So I checked my laundry and my daughter was still resting and doing fine, so I went back to bed for an hour or so. Then my mom called. I talked with her briefly. Then I texted her my daughter’s competition times, since she will be coming to some of her dances. I got up and got dressed and went to my daughter’s school and picked her. My hubby picked up my son from school. My daughter and I drove from her school to my mom and dad’s house. She tried on her costumes to see if what my mom did had helped. My mom also pinned something on the solo costume and then sewed it by hand while we waited. It looks much better! I know my son is happy and feels more comfortable in it. The one costume was too difficult to fix one part, but my mom did shorten it and steam it, which helped it hang nicer. It looks good! Her solo costume fits a lot better as well. So yay! Thanks Momma!! When she was finished we drove home. When we got home as soon as we walked in my son informed us that we were all playing Monopoly Cheaters Edition. However, before we did that, my younger daughter had to fill out her registration forms for grade 12!! Her very last school registration forms ever!! Wow!! So crazy!! How does that even happen?! So I helped her with that, although she pretty much knew what she wanted/needed to take next year. I had to sign it when she was finished!! Here she is:

So grown up!! It seems to happen overnight!! No more high school registration for her after this!! When we finished them and had both signed them, we all sat down together in the kitchen and played the game. I’m surprised that my oldest was up for it, although Monopoly is her most favourite game in the whole world!! So perhaps that’s what convinced her?! I’m not sure?! It was close to 6:00 when we started, so I also made supper at the same time, I was kind of up and down a lot during the beginning of the game. However, it was kind of nice to have everyone played together for once!! We played until about 8:00. That was our agreed upon time to stop, regardless of if we were actually finished or not. I actually won!! Which, believe me, never happens! If Monopoly is my oldest daughter’s favourite, well it’s probably my least favourite…however, I the entire family wanted to play who was I to say no right?! So, needless to say, I’m not the best at it and I’m also not the best at cheating, for two reasons, I’m too honest and I’m too nice…which really don’t help you much in Cheaters Edition!! I apologize when I end up with someone else’s property, because I feel guilty. They’re all like, “Mom! You’re supposed to do that!!” I just feel bad taking it from someone… I think that the main reason that I won is the reason why people always win Monopoly, I owned both Park Place and Boardwalk!! And, everyone knows, if you own both of those you can do fairly well…just cashing them in at the end is what put me over the top, my son was a very close second though!! I was just surprised though – I don’t think that I’ve ever won Monopoly!! When we finished, I talked to my son’s friends mom, because my son invited him over on Saturday when he is already going to a birthday party that day!! So we had to change the day to Sunday. My hubby went to bed. My daughter felt crappy and the inside of her mouth is swelling so bad that she is having a difficult time not biting the inside of her cheek because it’s swelling in between them. She’s also pretty sore, but that’s to be expected. They called her today to see how she’s doing, which I thought was really kind. Probably routine, but a nice routine to have! At about 9:00 I let the dogs out and in and filled up water bottles. Then I took my son upstairs and got him ready for bed. Then I went on my phone for a while. Now I’m going to get ready for bed. I might have a shower, so that I’m rushing a lot less in the morning.

Oral Surgery Is Finally Finished!! Yay!!

This morning after dropping off my son at school, I had my regular oatmeal and made some earl grey tea. Then at 9:00 I woke up my daughter. She had her oral surgery today. We were supposed to be at her appointment by 10:30. After I woke her up, I did a bit of laundry. Then I got ready to go. We left the house at around 10:00. I got an earl grey tea at Starbucks on the way there. When we arrived the lady at the front told us that we would probably have to pay for the whole thing today. In the email that they had sent my daughter they had told her that she would have to pay $700 today and that they would bill her for the remainder. Then when we got there they said that since her insurance company didn’t send in the predetermination yet that she would probably have to pay the whole amount owing. So, before they even called her in, I called my parents to let my dad know that we would likely be needing more money before she was finished today. They were on their way home from Calgary. They called my daughter into a little room at about 11:00. I was able to go in and wait with her. We assumed that meant that she would be going in soon, but we were very wrong!! We waited for a very long time!! The surgeon didn’t come in to talk to us about the surgery and the potential risks of surgery until close to 12:30! Then we were sent back out to the main waiting room. We waited until the first lady called us again and my daughter had to sign a bunch of papers. Her insurance company did cover a very small portion, but they still wanted the rest of the full payment today – so much for the $700 payment and billing her for the rest… I called my parents again. They had just arrived in Edmonton. They said that they were going to have something to eat and then they would just come to the clinic and my dad would take care of it (my daughter is paying him back gradually as she gets paid!!) While I was talking to my mom they finally came and got her for the actual surgery this time, by this time it was 1:00ish, 2.5 hours after we had arrived!! I said goodbye to her and she went in to have her surgery done. The lady told me that it would take 1.5 hours tops! Then I waited some more! My mom and dad arrived at the clinic at about 2:10. I paid my daughter’s $700 portion and my dad paid for the remainder. Then they waited with me for my daughter to be finished. At about 2:30 someone came and got me. They took me into a room and went over a long list of recovery things that I had to remember. They gave me a list to remind me of everything they talked about, 2 prescriptions, 1 for pain killers and I for antibiotics and a bunch of gauze. Then they told me to go get my car and bring it down to the patient loading zone. I got my parents and they followed me down to the loading zone. They were waiting there for me with her. By then it was close to 3:00!! She was pretty out of it! But she was under general anesthetic, so it wasn’t surprising. She very quickly said hi to my parents, then we drove back to Beaumont. I dropped off her prescriptions. Went into Sobeys quickly and bought her Gatorade and chicken soup broth. Then I went back to Shoppers and picked up her prescriptions. Then we went home. At home we changed her gauze, I made some jello, I put her Gatorade in the fridge and I got her ice for her face. Then I tucked her into a blanket on the couch, she wanted to stay upstairs:

Her cheeks have already poofed out since I took this photo!! Then I sat down beside her and turned on the tv. We watched the Mary Kondo show on Netflix (I had a google timer set for her ice pack so we knew when to switch sides and another timer set so we knew when to switch gauze in her mouth! I also kept track of when she could take her medication!!) and I had something to eat, because I was bloody starving!! I was starving and exhausted!! We watched tv and changed her ice and gauze until about 8:00. The lady told me that I should only have to change her gauze about 3 times and that the bleeding should slow down and it should clot. However, that wasn’t happening…so at 8:00ish I got dressed, got 2 of my younger daughter’s dance costumes ready to take to my mom’s house, then I quickly went to Shoppers and bought more gauze, because we had used all of the gauze that they had provided!! I brought it back home and dropped it off. Then I drove to the studio and picked up my daughter. We drove to my parent’s house and she tried on the costumes for my mom. My mom looked at what she would be able to easily do to make them fit a bit better by Friday!! Then my daughter and I drove home. At home I helped my oldest daughter again. She took the gauze out of her mouth. There was still some blood, but not as bad as it had been. I made the executive decision that sleep was more important! So I helped her get ready for bed. Then I finally let the dogs out and in and filled up my and my younger daughter’s water bottles, even though she was sleeping… I just put it on her night stand! Then I went to my room, got ready for bed, wrote this and now I’m going to bed. I’m soooo bloody exhausted!!!

Waiting For A Birthday Party…

This morning my son watched YouTube videos for about a half an hour before getting ready for school. Once I dropped him off, I came home and had some oatmeal. Then I did some laundry. I finished the laundry that my hubby started on the weekend and then I got my younger daughter’s stuff into the dryer and I was then able to get my things into the wash. Afterwards, I went upstairs and laid down for a while. Then I went back downstairs to do more of the laundry. I was feeling pretty darn tired, but what else was new?! I’m always feeling tired… I haven’t had a good sleep and not felt nauseous in forever it seems. I went to pick up my daughter from school at about 3:00. My hubby picked up my son. My daughter had a birthday party dinner to go to tonight, after dance and we had to get home on time for her to get ready so that she could get ready for dance and we could leave with enough time to stop at Shoppers on the way there. She needed to pick up a card and a gift card for the Birthday girl!! So, we did that, then I drove her to dance and dropped her off. From there I went to the Sobeys by my mom and dad’s house. I bought myself a salad and some strawberries and pineapples again. Then I went to my parent’s house. I ate supper there. Then I hung out there until my daughter texted me from Chianti’s to tell me that she was almost finished. I drove to the restaurant and called her when I got there. She came out about 5 minutes after I got there. Then we drove home. Once we got home it was almost 9:40 and I expected my oldest daughter to have gotten my son into bed, but they were just heading upstairs right then!! So I filled up our water bottles and took him upstairs and got him ready and into bed. Then I went on my phone for a while. Now I’m going to get ready for bed. I hope that I can actually sleep tonight. I can’t be lazy tomorrow, because I have to take my oldest daughter to her oral surgery in the morning. Hopefully it all goes smoothly, I’m sure that it will!!!

Stayed In The City!

This morning we had to get back onto our school morning schedule. My son did the thing that he likes to do when he wakes up a bit earlier then he has to and then he either plays a game for a while or watches YouTube videos. This morning he watched YouTube videos on the iPad. At about 7:30 he got dressed, then we did his hair and went downstairs. He had something to eat while I made his lunch. Then I drove him to school. After I got home from dropping him off I had some oatmeal. Then I did some things in the kitchen and in the living room. At about 11:00 I went upstairs and laid down until I had to pick up my daughter from her spare at about 1:35. We came straight home. She made something to bring with her to dance tonight for supper. I went upstairs to my bedroom. My oldest daughter had to leave for work. I relaxed until about 3:00. Then I got ready to drive my daughter to dance. I dropped her off. Then I went to the Winners by my parent’s house. From there I went to the Sobeys that is also right by my mom and dad’s. I bought myself a Cobb salad to have for supper and a small container of strawberries and pineapple. Then I went to their house. I stayed there while my daughter was dancing. Then at about 9:30, I drove to the studio and picked up my daughter and her friend. We dropped off her friend and then we went home. My oldest daughter wasn’t yet home from work. My hubby and son were already sleeping. It was almost 10:30 by the time that we got home!! I let the dogs out and in and filled up our water bottles. Then I said goodnight to my daughter. I went into my bedroom and then my oldest daughter came home from work. She came in and briefly said hi! Tomorrow is her last day of work before her oral surgery on Wednesday!! Finally!! I went on my phone for a while. Now it’s getting pretty darn late and I’m super tired… I need to get ready for bed!!

Extra Ballet Rehearsal

This morning I woke up right at about 11:11. Just in time to make a wish!! I actually made 2 wishes, because the time on my phone is about 2 minutes earlier than it is on my alarm clock! My son went on the iPad not long after that. I was feeling pretty tired and nauseous. So I just kind of laid in bed and relaxed while he was on the iPad. Then we went downstairs and I made him something to eat. Then I made myself some earl grey tea and some oatmeal. After eating, I did some laundry. Then my daughter came home from work. We talked for a little while. Then I went upstairs. I did a bit in my room and talked to my younger daughter. Then I got into the shower. After showering, I dried my hair and got dressed. Then my younger daughter and I went to the city. I went into the Walmart and took back some leggings that I had bought for her that didn’t fit right. Then we went to Winners. We bought her a couple things, some new leggings, identical to the pair that my mom bought her for Christmas, just a size smaller!! Also, a new pair of sweatpants. She always wears sweatpants to dance over her shorts or bodysuits. She has recently been losing weight and most of her clothes are too big on her!! I also bought the shampoo/conditioner that I always use. I generally buy it at Winners, because it’s priced well there!! It’s also priced similarly at Chatters. However, I’m at Winners far more often than I am at Chatters!! Once we were finished at Winners, we drove to the Studio where my daughter had extra ballet practices!! After dropping her off I went to Timmy’s and got my regular Earl Grey tea (2 milks, 1 honey) and a muffin. Then I drove back to the studio and turned off the van and waited until she was finished dancing. Then we drove back to town. I had to quickly go into Shoppers to pick up my hubby’s inhaler and then we went home. My oldest daughter wasn’t quite finished supper yet, even though it was actually getting pretty late! So, my younger daughter had a quick shower. I helped my daughter finish supper. Then we ate supper. (My hubby just went to bed, since he has to wake up early for work tomorrow.) The kids go back to school tomorrow, so after eating, I took my son upstairs and got him ready and into bed. Then I went on my phone for a while. Now I get ready for bed. I haven’t had a normal sleep in some time and I’m feeling like it’s really starting to catch up with me…

A Very Relaxed Day!!

This morning both my son and I slept in quite late. I slept like crap again last night…story of my life!! I also was feeling super nauseous, also seems to be the story of my life!! When I did get up, I stayed upstairs in bed and relaxed for a very long time!! My son went downstairs long before I did!! I just felt crappy and lazy and tired, so I really didn’t do anything at all! I went on my phone quite a bit, but other than that, I didn’t do all that much! I certainly am tired feeling nauseous all of the bloody time! It’s so damn exhausting… I eventually did go downstairs. I had a bit of yogurt to eat. I always regret eating, it doesn’t seem to matter what it is, I just feel worse after I eat…really sucks!! Everyone else was feeling hungry for supper, that’s just how lazy I was today, I had just come downstairs and everyone was ready for supper!! So I made some Spanish rice with the leftover spaghetti sauce for my hubby, my oldest daughter and myself and then I made grilled cheese sandwiches for my younger daughter and my son, as they’re not big fans of Spanish rice!! My daughter and I watched the final 3 episodes of the season of Queer Eye. That makes me so very sad… I just adore that show so very much!! It needs more episodes available then it has each season!! There just aren’t enough…😔 I could and likely will, rewatch them all, not just all of the episodes, but all of the seasons!! It’s just such a fantastic show!! Once we were finished, she went to bed, because she works early tomorrow morning. Then my son and I played a bit of a game while I sewed his pants. Then my younger daughter came downstairs. She was playing a game on her phone called Piano Tiles. My son was watching her, she’s actually quite exceptional at it, she’s number 1 on the leader board in Canada right now. She said that she has to be playing to stay there though, because it changes so very quickly!! So, I let my son get the game on my phone. We tried it a couple of times. It was kind of fun!! She felt like a DQ blizzard, but DQ was closed for the night, so I got dressed and drove to McDonald’s and I bought her and my son a McFlurry. They continued playing the game together while I was gone. Then she went upstairs to her bedroom and my son and I played it for a bit. Then I let the dogs out and in and I filled water bottles. Then we went upstairs to get ready for bed. Once I had him in bed, I went on my phone for a while. Now it’s awfully late. I’m going to get ready for bed and hopefully actually get some sleep…
