Mom And Dad’s

This morning my son and I slept in pretty late. It wasn’t intentional, it just happened. When we got up I figured out what to make my younger daughter and son for supper tonight. We planned on going to my parent’s house and my mom was making something that my fussy kids don’t eat. So, I went to the store and bought some pasta and some chicken breasts. I came back home and cooked the chicken. At the same time I had my tea and plain toast. When the chicken was cooked I put it in a container and put it into a bag with the pasta so that it was ready to take to my parent’s place. Then I made sure that my oldest daughter was awake. I got myself showered and ready to go. Then we drove to my mom and dad’s. We played Headbands when we got there. Then we played Rummoli. We didn’t have time to finish, because supper was close to being ready. I had to cook the pasta and my mom heated up the chicken in a pan on the stove. Then we sat down and ate supper. After supper and coffee and dessert for some we played Crokinole until it was about 9:00 and we decided it was time for us to go home. Then we drove back to town. When we got home I had to tidy up the bedroom a bit, because just before we left my hubby was looking for a pair of jeans to wear and he basically trashed the place looking for some. When I finished doing that I found a pair of dress pants for my daughter to wear to her job interview that she has on Monday morning. Then my oldest daughter and I stayed upstairs talking for about an hour or so. We went downstairs when it was time to get my son ready for bed. It was actually pretty late for him. However, he was hungry, so I got him a snack. When he was finished with his snack I got him into bed. Then I went on my phone for a while. Then I got ready for bed. Now I’m going to hit the hay!

Got My Van Back!!

This morning I didn’t have to get up early, because the kids didn’t have school. I got up at about 10:00. I got dressed and ready to go. Then I took my younger daughter to the dr in town. She has a rash on her shoulders and back that she has had before. The dr gave her a prescription for some pills that helped her before. We took the prescription to Shoppers and while they were filling it we got her some shampoo, conditioner and mascara that she needed. Then we got her prescription. We drove back home. When we got home I had a quick drink and went on my phone, then my hubby and I went to Fountain Tire and picked up my van. They said that we really should be replacing all 4 of my tires. This didn’t surprise me at all! Considering I was sliding all over the place since the very first time it snowed and I could barely drive down our street when it was not plowed, as it took forever to get traction in order for the van to get moving (which was why I couldn’t even tell that the tire was flat yesterday until I was on the plowed street!!) and I also easily got stuck in even a little bit of snow! However, we definitely can’t afford two more tires!! Thank goodness my dad paid for these two!! Anyway, they put the 2 new ones on the front and the old crappy ones on the back, since I have front wheel drive. I already noticed a huge difference on the way home! So, even though my back tires still aren’t great, at least my front ones are way way better!! I was even able to drive up the driveway without driving like a crazy person, which was the only way I was able to get up our driveway before. When we got home my son had woken up my oldest daughter. I went upstairs and was talking to my younger daughter. My mom called, so I talked to her for a while. My hubby had to go to work. Even though he never officially had an interview for the data entry position, he has been doing that position all week. The second day the manager watched him for about 10 minutes and then said that he obviously knew what he was doing, so he left him to do it. I started supper early, because I was making homemade chicken soup and had to take a couple chicken carcasses out of the freezer and put them into water in my Grandma’s big, old cast iron pot on the stove. I had some tea and my exciting dry toast. I had a nice, long relaxing shower while the pot was on the stove. Then I checked it when I got out. I drained all of the bones and meat, then I cut and added the veggies, rice and spices, etc. When the meat/bones were cool enough to touch, I separated the meat from the bones. Then I added the meat back into the soup. When the veggies were cooked and the rice wasn’t crunchy, we ate supper. My younger daughter went to her friend’s house after eating. The soup was super tasty!! My daughter, son and I watched the rest of Mary Poppins. My son really got into it. He actually had tears in his eyes at the end when Mary Poppins leaves. It was very sweet! When it was finished, we drove to Shoppers to pick up my daughter’s prescriptions. When we got home my daughter and I watched a show. Then my son and I played a game. My hubby came home from work. My son and I played a game on my phone. Then I got him into bed. I went on my phone for a while, a little longer than I intended to. I’m tired now, so I’m going to get ready for bed now.

A Really Bad Flat Tire!!

Last night my son slept even better then he did the night before. There was still some coughing, but he’s definitely on the mend. This morning I had him ready to go to school. My daughter was ready to go and waiting for her friend to pick her up. Her bell was about to ring when she realized that she needed a ride. So I told my son to quickly get his coat and boots on and we hopped into the van and the three of us left. Our street hasn’t been plowed yet, so I’ve had a difficult time driving down it all week! I didn’t think anything of it when it was hard to drive on it this morning, but as soon as I reached the plowed street I knew that something was wrong. I realized that I had a flat tire! I didn’t drive to either school, I went around the block and straight home! I went inside, told my hubby and then got the kids into the car and drove them to school. When I got home I looked at my tire on my van and it was completely mangled! Totally done! I made it so much worse by driving on it! Just what we needed…with all of our spare cash! My hubby was freaking out. He called Fountain Tire in town and they said that they would probably have to replace two of them, not just one. My hubby needed some of the snow cleared better to try to get the spare on. So I woke up my daughter to help me shovel, while my hubby started jacking up the van. He got it up, but the tire was completely stuck on. No matter what he tried, it absolutely would not come off!! So he called my dad to see what he thought he should do. My dad said that he would come out and help us pay for a tow to the Fountain Tire. So my daughter and I tidied the inside of the house a bit, it wasn’t too bad, since we cleaned up on the weekend to decorate for Christmas. When my dad got here, he and my hubby decided to go to Fountain Tire and talk to them to see how we should proceed. They ended up calling for the tow truck from there and were told that the truck would be at the house by 1:05pm. Also, my dad paid for most of the cost of the new tires. He said that it’s our Christmas present for this year! We are so so thankful! We hadn’t quite figured out how we were going to afford it. We had a little bit of money left for Christmas presents for the kids, but not enough to cover the cost and I’m not done with Christmas shopping. So thank you dad and mom for my Christmas tires!! Maybe I won’t keep getting stuck everywhere!! My dad waited with us at the house for the tow truck to come. We just sat in the living room and talked for a while. My old friend called while we were waiting! It was really good to hear from her!! My hubby had to leave at about 1:15 for work, and the tow truck hadn’t arrived yet. I had something to eat and my dad and daughter did as well. My dad helped us start fixing a drawer that has been broken in our kitchen for a long time. My daughter and him took it all apart and found the part that they needed to buy. They just couldn’t run to the hardware store, because he had to be here in case the tow truck showed up. We were about to call at about 2:00 to see if/when they were coming when the towing company called and said that they would be there within a half an hour. We started vacuuming then. We started in the kitchen and worked our way into the living room and entryway then did the side door and the basement stairs. Finally at about 2:55 the tow truck arrived!! My dad went out and talked to the guy. He had all of my dad’s information and told my dad that he would hook it up and take it to Fountain Tire and that my dad could come inside. So my dad and my daughter went and picked up my daughter and son from school. Then they went to the Hardware store and got the part to fix the drawer. They came home and fixed the drawer. I called Fountain Tire to see if they would still be able to have the van ready by the end of the day today, but he said that the tires he ordered for me didn’t come in, so that it won’t be until tomorrow. So my dad finally was able to go home after all of his help today!! My daughter had to miss her dance for the second time in one week! She was so upset! It’s very out of character for her to miss so much and she was so worried about how mad her teacher would be!! I told her that we had no choice, we had no vehicle, there was nothing we could do, but she was super upset about missing! I was feeling pretty tired out. It was a really stressful day. I went on my phone for a while. I also called the bank with my daughter, to help her try to get her online banking working again. Then I made supper. After we ate, my daughter and I watched a couple shows. Then we decided to watch Marry Poppins. Such a great movie. There’s no school tomorrow, because it’s a PD day, but my son still isn’t 100% and it was getting late and he fell asleep. So I got him into bed. Then I went on my phone for a while. I wrote this. Now I’m going to get ready for bed and I’m going to try to get some sleep. My tummy is bugging me.

Back To School!

Last night my son slept a bit better than he has been recently. He was still coughing off and on, but not quite as badly. So, I decided to get him up for school today. I told him that if he’s coughing a lot or if he’s not feeling okay to tell his teacher to call me and I will come pick him up. However, he was fine and made it through the whole day. I went back to bed after I dropped him off at school. I slept for a bit. Then I went on my phone for a while. I actually laid in bed for quite a while. When I got up I had something to eat. My daughter texted me from school reminding me that it was early dismissal. I picked them up from school. Then we came home. I had a quick cup of tea and then I drove my daughter to dance. I drove back home and I went through my emails. My oldest daughter had a walk-in appointment in town, so my son and I went with her to that. Then we took her prescription to Shoppers. We went home and I made supper. After supper my daughter and I watched a show. Then I drove to the city to pick up my daughter from dance. Normally it wouldn’t be my night to pick her up, but her friend is in the Nutcracker ballet, so she wasn’t at dance tonight. I stopped at the Shoppers to pick up my daughter’s prescription on the way home. When I got home I finished putting my son to bed. Then I helped my daughter with her homework. I put out the garbage. I went on my phone. Now I’m going to get ready for bed.

Everyone’s Home Sick!!

Last night my son was still coughing through the night. Seems to be his new normal these days. I let him sleep again this morning. My plan is for him to go to school tomorrow though, unless he ends up being super bad tonight. My daughter’s stomach was bad again today too, so she didn’t go to school either. So, I got up early, called both of their schools and then laid back down. I didn’t really fall back into a deep sleep again. I just sort of rested. My son and I actually got out of bed around noon, even though we were both awake before then. We were just being lazy. I woke my daughter up. We had our tea and I had my usual dry, boring toast. I helped her write a couple cover letters for some jobs she’s applying for, she’s not all that happy at McDonald’s. Then we did some laundry. We finished putting up the rest of the Christmas decorations in the living room. My daughter student teaches on Tuesdays and really didn’t want to miss it today, so I drove her to dance, even though her tummy was still really hurting her. She stayed for her modern class as well. While she danced I went to Marks and Winners with my mom. She was looking for Christmas gifts for my younger daughter and wanted me with her, so we went together. It was pretty rushed, because we didn’t have a lot of time, but she got a couple things. Then I picked up my daughter and we drove home. I grabbed a couple things from Sobeys on the way. My daughter started supper, just a couple Delissio pizzas, they were ready right after I got home. So I cut them and we ate. Then my younger daughter and I put new tempered glass screen protectors that I ordered from Amazon on our phones. My oldest daughter and I watched a show. Then I got my son into bed. He had a difficult time falling asleep tonight. When he finally did, I went on my phone for a while. I went downstairs and did the dishes. Then I got ready for bed. Now I’m going to hopefully fall asleep.

A Very Snowy Day!!

Last night my son slept on and off, as he has been doing. He’s still coughing quite a bit. I just let him sleep in this morning. I got up early and called his school and then made sure that my daughter was out of bed. Then I went back to bed. We got up around 11:30. My hubby had an interview with Telus at about 11:30. Then he came home for a bit. He went to his regular job, for the interview for the data entry position for 2:00. It snowed all weekend! The roads weren’t great today, so the traffic was bad and slow. He ended up arriving about 10 minutes late. They had to postpone his interview. I haven’t heard all of the details yet, because he’s not home. Oh. He just came home. He has to talk to her tomorrow now. My daughter and I started watching a show, but my younger daughter texted me from school saying that her stomach was really hurting. So I went to pick her up. It took a while to wipe the snow off of the van. Then I got stuck in front of the house in all of the snow! The nice thing about living in a small town is that a bunch of people stopped to help me! By the time we got it in-stuck there were over 10 people helping me. My tires are super crappy! However, we simply can’t afford new tires for the van this year. So I’m stuck with bad tires!! My daughter shovelled off our driveway and the road where I was stuck and I got my other daughter from school. Even though, it still took a few tries to get back up the driveway!! I know my daughter really wasn’t feeling well, because she decided that she was going to lie down and stay home from dance, which she never does!!! My oldest daughter and I finished watching our show. Then we made a meal plan and grocery list for the rest of the week. I went to No Frills and then Sobeys. Then I came back home and made supper. We ate supper and my daughter and I watched a show while my son and I played Battleship. Then I got him into bed. I went on my phone for a bit. Then I went downstairs and talked to my hubby and daughter. Now I’m going to get ready for bed.

Christmas Decorating Day!

Last night was pretty much a repeat of the past few nights. My son slept on and off, depending on when he was coughing. I pretty much slept when he slept, well, actually, I slept less than him, because I took a lot longer to fall back asleep then he did. We woke up at about 10:30, but got out of bed closer to 11:00. We had some tea and I had my boring, plain toast. Then we brought up all of the Christmas decorations and we spent the day decorating the tree and the house. At about 4:00, I dropped my daughter off at her friend’s house, because a few of them were getting together to work on a French group project. I stopped at Shoppers on the way home to buy more medicine for my son. When I got home I made supper. It took me a while, but it was pretty good, if I do say so myself!! After supper my hubby gave my son a bath. My daughter and I changed the sheets on my bed, which sounds pretty simple, but is actually a pretty big ordeal because of the way the bed is situated in our bedroom and the size of it. I just love it when there are clean sheets on it though!! Then I got my son into bed. I went on my phone for a while. Now I’m going to get ready for bed. I’m going to see if my son sleeps tonight or not. If he’s up all night coughing, then I will just let him sleep in the morning and I won’t wake him up for school. If he sleeps, I’ll probably wake him up for school.

Festival Of Trees

Last night I slept about the same as the night before. I slept when my son slept. When his medicine wore off and he started coughing again it woke me up too. Then I had a difficult time falling back to sleep. He was up quite a bit. His fever was not as bad as the previous night, but it still wasn’t great!! This morning my alarm went off at 9:00. Even though I already paid for my son’s entry fee to The Festival Of Trees and I already bought all of the tickets on the App for him to play all of the games and participate in all of the kids activities, he was finally sound asleep, so I didn’t want to wake him. I didn’t really think that he would be up to it anyway. My daughter had to be there by about 11:00, her rehearsal started at 11:15 and they started dancing on stage at 12:05. So we planned on leaving the house by 10:15 at the latest. My hubby stayed home with my son and my girls and I went. We dropped my daughter off by the rehearsal room, then my oldest daughter and I checked our coats. We looked at all of the gingerbread houses first. Then we walked through the gift shop. We looked at the Christmas trees. Then we watched my daughter dance. We pretty much left after she danced.

These were the best photos that I could get. We drove back to town. It was snowing a lot, both on the way there and home, but also it wasn’t really cold out, so it was pretty melty and wet, so I went through a lot of wiper fluid!! We had a couple hours at home. I had something to eat, which my tummy just plain didn’t like, I just felt sick for the rest of the day!! My oldest daughter and I did more cleaning up in the living room, we’re trying to clean and organize it in the living room so that we can start to decorate for Christmas. Then at about 4:30 my daughter and I had to drive back to the city for her production rehearsal from 5:15 – 6:30. I went to Winners while she was dancing and did a bit of Christmas shopping. Then I picked her up and drove home. We stopped at the Shoppers in town to pick up my prescription and a couple other things, before going home. My hubby hadn’t even started supper, even though it was almost 7:30 when we got home!! My daughter and I did more cleaning while he cooked. Then we had a late supper of chicken fajitas. I only had one small one, because I wasn’t too sure what my tummy would think of that. Then my hubby brought up the tree. We didn’t actually decorate or anything, we just put it in place. We are going to start tomorrow morning. Then I got my sick son into bed. I went on my phone for a while. Now I’m going to get ready for bed myself.

A Sick Kiddo

I slept for some of the night last night. My son was really sick last night. He had a fever of 104 at bedtime. He slept until the medicine wore off, then he woke up again and started coughing again and his fever went back up again. So, I woke up again. I gave him more medicine. It took him a while to fall back asleep. It also took me some time to fall back to sleep too! My son didn’t go to school this morning. His fever was still pretty high and he was still coughing a lot. I gave him more medicine and he stayed in bed. I didn’t really fall back to sleep this morning. I did lie in bed, but I didn’t sleep. Turns out that my hubby has to interview for this position on Monday. He thinks it’s more of a formality than anything, hopefully he’s right. He doesn’t really have all of the details. He’s pretty sure that the pay is a bit less than what he’s currently making, which isn’t great, but it’s better than making nothing! He also got an email about a different job interview Monday morning at 11:30. So he’s going to go to that one as well. My son and I got up at about noon. We went downstairs. I got my daughter up. We had some tea and something to eat. My son just laid on the couch in between us. When my hubby got out of bed my daughter and I went to my mom and dad’s house to dry her big comforter in their dryer. It’s a better dryer than ours, with more settings. We visited with them while we waited for it to dry. When it was finished we went home. We stopped and got gas on the way home and once we were in town we got a few groceries at the Sobeys. My son wasn’t much better when I got home. The medicine does work to bring his fever down, as long as I stay on top of it and give it to him on time. When I got home I made supper. We ate supper, then my daughter and I watched the sequel to a Christmas movie that we watched last night. Then I got my son into bed. Afterwards, I had a shower and then I got ready for bed myself.

Finally Some Good News…

I actually slept again last night. I fell asleep a little late, but when I finally did fall asleep, I stayed asleep until my alarm went off, which was nice! I got my son off to school. Then I slept until about 11:30 – 12:00. Then I got up and woke up my daughter. We had some tea. I had my plain toast. We watched another Christmas movie on Netflix. I talked to my mom on the phone. I also called Dr Hauptman’s office and had them fax a new Suboxone prescription to Shoppers, since Rexall can’t transfer that prescription to Shoppers. Then I got the kids from school. My son has had a bit of a cough and scratchy throat all week, but today when I picked him up he really wasn’t feeling well. His throat was really bothering him and he felt really hot. I drove my daughter to dance. When I came home I made supper. My son seemed to get worse as the day went on and he hardly ate any of his food. After supper he laid down on the couch really lethargic and out of it. My daughter and I cleaned and organized the living room. We watched a couple more Netflix movies while doing so. I got him to bed. Then we finished what we were doing. Now I’m going to get ready for bed myself. My tummy isn’t feeling that great still. My hubby called me from work with some good news. They are firing their data entry person at his work and they need a new person. They were asking if anyone knew of someone who could do that and his friend Don said my hubby’s name. So they asked him and he said yes. So, on Monday he starts data entry from 2:00 – 10:00 Monday – Friday. That’s a huge relief! That means that he will have a job! Which means that we can breathe again…so maybe if I wake up and my tummy suddenly feels better I’ll know that it was stress!! Anyway, I’m going to try to get some sleep.
