Misery Loves Company

I stayed in bed again today. It was pretty much a repeat of yesterday, except that in the morning my son was beside me watching YouTube videos on my phone. Then he went downstairs. My younger daughter started saying that her tummy wasn’t feeling well either. She also started having nausea and diarrhea. She was also throwing up a lot! She ended up beside me on my bed halfway through the day and into the night. She really wasn’t feeling well at all!! Poor kiddo. She’s half asleep beside me right now. Hopefully she gets some sleep. My hubby bought us more Imodium and some gingerale. Today was just as productive as yesterday…sigh. I feel so bloody useless right now.

I’m going to try to brush my teeth without gagging…

Sick As A Dog 🐶

This morning I felt just as awful when I woke up as I felt when I went to bed. I made myself get up anyway and get my son up and I got him ready and off to school in the freezing cold 🥶. Then I came back home and had a date with the bathroom…afterwards I went back to bed – not just for a couple of hours like I had intended, but for the entire freaking day!! I guess that I felt a lot worse than I thought!! I literally did absolutely nothing all day but sleep on and off and lie in my bed. (Well, if you don’t count running to the bathroom as “doing something”!!) I closed my eyes to have a little nap at about 9:00 and woke up to the kids coming home…my daughter came in to ask me something and my hubby to ask me why I didn’t tell him that it was early dismissal. I was totally confused 🤷‍♀️!! I thought it was like 11:00!! Anyway, I ended up literally staying in bed all day and evening and now it’s midnight! And I feel exactly the same!! What a productive day I’ve had. Why do I feel guilty?? Is that a mom thing?! Feeling like if you don’t do anything all day for your family, even if you’re sick, that you somehow did something wrong or bad?? Huh… I did read and sing to my son at bedtime. He asked me to. He’s, obviously, sleeping now. Also, this makes 4 days that I haven’t been on the treadmill and that really bothers me!! Hopefully tomorrow is a better day. The kids are home tomorrow and Friday, because it’s teacher’s convention. It’s weird having my hubby home all the time. Hopefully he has luck finding work soon. Things are not looking good on the work front for him… He’s been home for 3 weeks now. Money is tight. My daughter’s full cheque is probably going to go towards supporting all of us…she’s currently the only one working right now!! Stressful times…

I’m going to go wash my face and brush my teeth and try to feel more human now.

Pre-Comp

This morning was even colder than yesterday…the school was open again, but no buses were running at all today. My van started, but the black car didn’t. My hubby boosted the car with the van. Pretty darn cold weather to be outside boosting cars!! I was still feeling awful today! Super nauseous and I had major diarrhea! Fun times… I dropped my son off at school, then I took something for my tummy and went back to bed until 11:00. I had to get up then and start getting ready to go, because despite the way I was feeling, today was pre-comp which is a super important day at my daughter’s dance studio! The studio, well really Miss Amanda, rents out the Dow Theatre in Fort Saskatchewan and she has her friend come in to adjudicate. Then she runs through every solo, duo, trio and group dance from the upcoming season as if it’s a competition. This gives the kids the opportunity to perform their dances on a real stage for the first time in front of a “real” judge. It helps with performance nerves and helps the teachers see what needs to be worked on in each dance. It’s also usually one of the first times that the parents get to see this year’s dances. She starts earlier in the day with the solos, duos and trios and then begins the groups afterwards and they go into the evening. It’s usually a pretty long day. Not a great day to have diarrhea on…nope ☹️ I made sure that I brought my Imodium with me… We left at about 12:45. We arrived at the Dow at about 1:30. My van was saying that it was damn close to -30 (that’s NOT counting the wind chill – so yep, it was cold!!) I helped my daughter get her stuff into the dressing room. Then I left her back there with her friends. She really likes it when I leave her to it… she no longer wants me hovering around. So, I usually go back with her at the beginning and maybe get food with her part way through and then see her when she is finished. Although we sometimes text in between. I went to the lobby and sat in the comfy chairs and went on my phone for a while. We were actually fairly early, so I didn’t need to go into the theatre right away. After a while I went back into the theatre. Here’s where I win the bad mom award…we’re supposed to record their solos (or duos/trios if they’re in one, my daughter is just doing a solo this year). So, I’m in the theatre with plenty of time to spare, feeling sick as a dog, but watching and cheering, because that’s what all us parents do. Then about 3 or 4 dances before my daughter’s dance I have to go to the bathroom. (This might be TMI…) I mean the kind of having to go that you can’t ignore when you’re sick. So, I book out of the theatre, run to the bathroom, try to be as fast as I can, take more damn Imodium and book it back to the theatre and come back in the dance AFTER my daughter’s solo!!! So, yes. I completely missed her solo by 1 bloody dance!!! Just because of my damn tummy and the issues it’s causing!! Argh!!! I felt even more sick to my stomach then I had before I left! I can’t believe that I missed it! That’s never happened to me!! I felt so bad!! And the mom of the year award goes to…NOT!!! Anyway, the funny thing was I was feeling super guilty and bad and I apologized profusely in a super long involved text explaining why and what happened and she said, and I quote, “It’s fine mom. I don’t even care. It doesn’t matter. ” I was like, huh. Well then. What am I all worried about?! She clearly doesn’t care either way!! And why am I here…lol Kids right?! Anyway, after that fun time I went back out to the lobby for a while, because there were a lot more solos, etc and then there was a half an hour of time that they spend on production, and they don’t let the parents watch during that practice. Then, after that, they start the groups. I went back into the theatre for this part. I was sure to go to the bathroom beforehand and I took more Imodium. My daughter had quite a few in these so I pretty much just made myself comfortable and sat back and watched. There were some pretty darn cute little kids. My daughter’s dances are going to be good ones this year. She’s in her first pointe group which is kind of cool. Today is the first time that I actually saw her dance on pointe. And , considering one of her pointe shoes is actually snapped in two places, she did pretty damn good!! They have some neat and original concepts this year which I am sure will stand out at competition time! She’s in quite a few dances. By the time she was finished, she was pretty darn tired. I had to make one last trip to the bathroom and then I stepped outside and started the van with the autostart. It was pretty cold still when we got in it. Brrrr…. I took her to Wendy’s, because she was hungry. I had a grilled chicken snack wrap. I’m sure that it went straight through me though. Then we drove home. The van did warm up, but we both still had frozen toes when we got home. It was about 9:40 when we got here. We were both cold and tired. I let the dogs out and then went upstairs and then I went on my phone for a while. Now I’m going to get ready for bed, I still feel cold and super sick. My tummy is grumbling and turning over and I feel super nauseous. Despite the Imodium, I still have to go to the bathroom. Yuck… I just want to sleep!!!

Feeling Crappy…

This morning it was bloody cold out again! I made sure that the school was open, and it was. None of the rural buses were running, but the schools were all still open. So I still got my son up for school. After I dropped him off my son, I decided to lie back down. I really didn’t feel well and I was super tired. My tummy was super nauseous and my throat hurt and I just have a head cold. I know that tomorrow is going to be a long day, so I wanted to be sure that I got enough rest today. I did set an alarm, but I still felt crappy when it went off, so I just stayed in bed. When I finally did get up, I went downstairs and had something small to eat and had some tea. I sat with my daughter. She had today off. We watched a few YouTube videos together. Then we started watching the new series The Titan Games, because we were both curious about it. My hubby picked up the kids from school and drove my daughter to dance, since I wasn’t feeling well. My daughter helped me make spaghetti for supper. I barely ate, but everyone else had supper. After supper I printed off tomorrow’s schedule for pre-comp (for my daughter’s dance) and I made sure that I knew all of the names of her dances for this year). My daughter and I watched another episode of the same show. Then I got my son into bed. Once he was asleep I had a shower. Now I’m going to get ready for bed. I’m still not feeling great…

Another Freezing Cold Day!!

I slept in today. I went to bed pretty late again last night. Then, when I finally did go to bed, it took me a while to fall asleep. I’ve actually been falling asleep much better recently, but for whatever reason, that was not the case last night! My son went on the iPad beside me for a while this morning, then he decided to go downstairs. I told him that I would be down right away, but I actually didn’t end up getting out of bed for a couple more hours!! I wasn’t really asleep. I was just kind of relaxing. I still am not feeling that great and I could hear my hubby with my son, so I knew that he wasn’t by himself or anything. It was nice to just do nothing at all and just lie down. When I finally did get up, I went downstairs and made myself some tea and a bagel. I let the dogs out very briefly, because it’s still so darn cold out!! My bigger dog looked at me like “why do I have to come in already?!” On the other hand, my little dog looked at me when I was letting them out like, “why the hell are you forcing me to go outside in this bloody weather?!” So, I can’t win with them – lol! I spent so much time being lazy upstairs that my daughter was coming home from work while I was eating my breakfast…hee hee!! She did have to work pretty darn early today. After eating, I made a small grocery list and the kids decided that they wanted me to pick up food on the way home. They wanted it so badly that they both e-transferred me a bit of money to help pay for supper, since my hubby hasn’t worked in 2 weeks and we’re broke and I told them that we can’t afford it! So, after making my grocery list, I started the van and then got dressed. Then I braved the minus 38 weather (brrrr…!!!!) Even though I had my gloves on, my fingers ached by the time I was finished wiping the snow off the van. I drove to Sobeys and bought the groceries. Then I drove to my parent’s house and picked up some things from there (thanks guys!) From there I picked up supper. I went through the drive thru! (Weird way to spell through…) I had to pull into a spot and wait for about 10 minutes for the darn food to be ready! The van actually warmed up by then, so my fingers no longer hurt! When it was finally ready they brought it to me and then I drove home!! I brought in the supper and the groceries. I put away the groceries and I had some supper. Then my daughter and I watched one of our shows. I separated the ground beef that I bought into two and froze it. It’s so cold outside that our house feels colder inside, (which probably isn’t good…) It started getting late, so I took my son upstairs and got him ready for bed. Then I went on my phone. Now I’m going to get ready for bed.

Dance Performance At Cheer Competition…

This morning I had an alarm set for 10:00, but I didn’t actually get up when it went off. It woke me up. I stayed in bed for a while afterwards, partly because I ended up falling asleep late last night and I was tired and partly because I was just relaxing. When I did get up, I went downstairs and had a bagel (something different then my usual…boring thing!!) and my tea. Then I came upstairs and got myself ready to go to Victoria School of the Arts, which is downtown Edmonton. They had a big cheer competition going on today and my daughter’s group was performing their hip hop dance during one of the intermissions. We had to arrive about an hour before they were supposed to perform. I sat with her friend’s mom and little sister. Their dance was really great!! It was so so good! I know that I’m biased, but it’s the first time that I’ve seen it this year and I really enjoyed it! There was a ton of cheering. All of the cheerleaders were actually super supportive and were screaming and cheering for them! It was really fun to watch! When they were finished, I watched a younger cheer team and two of the high school teams, one with pom poms and one without. Then my daughter wanted to go home. It was pretty darn cold out today! We lucked out when we arrived and got a super close parking spot right on the street. So we quickly hopped into the freezing van and drove towards home. She was starving and coughing and my throat was bothering me, so we went through a Timmy’s drive thru and I got her chicken strips and a drink and I got myself some, surprise surprise, earl grey tea!! We stopped at the Walmart on Ellerslie and 50th st and bought a couple things, then drove back to Beaumont. I went to Sobeys for a couple things for supper, then we went home. My hubby decided to pick the coldest day of the year so far to change the weather stripping on the front door and the thing at the base of the door that helps it seal better. I’ve been placing towels against it, to stop cold air from coming in all winter. We’ve had the part in our basement and he decided that today would be a great day to put it on…lol. Crazy! I just started supper, realized we didn’t have the chicken that I thought we had, went back out in the cold to the store to buy some. Then came home and finished supper. By the time I finished supper and I drove my daughter to her friend’s house it was negative 38 degrees Celsius with the wind chill…brrrrr!!!! That’s pretty darn cold, I must say! I started the car 10 minutes before we left, it probably warmed up longer than I actually drove it, well, not quite, but close!! Yet, it still wasn’t warm when we got into it. It was warmer than outside, but it certainly wasn’t warm. If you know what I mean… When I got home after dropping her off, I ate supper, by the time I was finished it was getting pretty late! I got changed and went on the treadmill for only about 35 minutes. Then I came upstairs and got cleaned up. Then I got my son into bed. Afterwards, I went on my phone. I tend to lose track of time when I do that…not always a good thing!! Now I’m going to get ready for bed.

Bought Contact Lenses Today!

This morning I woke up at about 10:30. Today was a PD day, so the kids were home from school. When I got up I got my son something to eat and then had my own breakfast and tea. Then I got my myself dressed and ready to go. My younger daughter’s follow-up contact lenses appointment was today at noon. My son still wasn’t feeling great and was having major diarrhea while we were leaving. I had help him before leaving, so we ended up arriving a little late for our appointment. They had her wear a pair of the sample lenses into the appointment to see how they fit on her. Everything was fine, so I bought her the contact lenses. The smallest amount that you could buy was a 6 month supply, so that’s what we bought. That many lenses will last her a very long time!! She only wears them for dance competitions and performances, which she definitely does not do for 6 months of the year! So, she will definitely have enough for next year as well!! It’s too bad that her eyes need a different strength contact lense, or I could have bought her just one 6 month box, not 2. Oh well, she now has plenty!! We bought a few groceries while we were at the Costco, then we drove back to town. We thought of a few things that we hadn’t while at the Costco, so I went into Sobeys quickly before going home. Once we were home, we took everything inside. It’s starting to get cold and snowy outside today and it’s only supposed to get worse over the next week!! When everything was put away, I got changed and then gave my son some tummy pills and went downstairs and went on the treadmill for 67 minutes. It was a bit more difficult today, because my throat is feeling scratchy, I have a bit of a cough, I have a headache and my darn nose wouldn’t stop running!! When I was done, I went upstairs and had a shower. Afterwards, my hubby started making breakfast for supper and I got a load of laundry going and then my oldest daughter and I cleaned off the table. She made some french toast and I made some juice and got my son’s hard boiled eggs ready and set the table. Then we actually were all there together, which hasn’t happened in a while! After supper, my hubby went downstairs and my younger daughter went upstairs to her bedroom. My son played on his game pad and my oldest daughter and I watched a couple of our shows. My son fell asleep on the couch. I got everything ready upstairs and my hubby carried him up to bed. I stayed up later then I wanted to and I’m not feeling well. So, I’m going to get ready for bed.

Getting Sick…

This morning after I dropped off my son, I watched a show that I’ve never seen before while I had breakfast and drank my tea. Then I went downstairs on the treadmill for about 65 minutes. I’m starting to get the cold that my younger daughter has, so instead of doing my yoga DVD, I decided to have a shower and then take a nap. I slept for about an hour and a half. My hubby picked up my son from school. I got up and got dressed in time to drive my daughter to dance. After dropping her off, I drove back to town. I stopped at the Shoppers and picked up some cold medicine for myself and some cranberry juice for my oldest daughter, because she feels like she might be getting a bladder infection. Then I came home and picked up my hubby. I dropped him off at his buddies place and drove back home. I started supper. Since I wasn’t feeling great and I was feeling tired, I made something easy tonight. My daughter and I watched Criminal Minds. We started to watch an episode of NCIS LA. While watching it my daughter found someone selling a graphing calculator on Facebook’s Matketplace for only $80. Brand new this particular calculator is $200. Most people sell this one for at least $120, if not $150 and they usually go quickly. We need one for my younger daughter for her math class that literally started today. Things aren’t going well at all with my hubby’s work situation, he has not worked in 2 weeks and it’s not looking like that’s about to change, so the cheaper the better. Anyway, as soon as we saw the price we knew that it would go quickly! We asked him right away if he still had it. He said that he did. So we asked him when he would be available for us to come by to pick it up and he said that he would be home all night tonight. So, we said that we would come pick it up! We stopped our show and I told my son that he had to stop his game and I got dressed and we left. On the way back my son said that he wasn’t feeling well. Just as we left the city, he said that he was going to throw up. We gave him the dog water bowl that we keep in the van, lined with a plastic bag and he threw up a lot!! It was bad!! I was on a road that I couldn’t pull over on and my daughter undid her belt to help him, but she immediately started gagging because of the smell… so he literally held a bowl full to the brim of vomit (too much information?!) all the way home! It was all over his jacket and it spilled over a bit onto his pj pants. I must say, that it also didn’t smell all that pleasant. I admit that it is the fastest that I’ve ever driven on 50th between Edmonton and Beaumont driving home and I’m damn lucky that there weren’t any police officers out and about…My hubby gave him a quick bath when we got home. My daughter and I ran out in the black car so that she could fill it up with gas and so I could buy some children’s gravol. Then we went home and I helped her quickly make a lunch for work, because she had to get up early tomorrow morning for work. It’s a PD day for the kids, so no school! It’s supposed to start getting super cold out starting tomorrow, that and it’s also supposed to start snowing like crazy! Yay! I just can’t wait…Once my daughter’s lunch was made, she went to bed. Then I made my younger daughter a grilled cheese sandwich. She was starving and once my hubby finished off supper, there wasn’t anything left. She didn’t really want what we had and preferred the sandwich. Afterwards, I played a Minecraft card game with my son. Then I got him ready for bed. Once he was asleep, I went on my phone. Now I’m going to get ready for bed, because it’s late!

No Yoga Today

This morning after my alarm went off I fell back asleep! I woke up exactly one hour later… I didn’t even clue in at first! I glanced at the clock and thought it was the correct time and started getting up and getting my son up. Then, after I had woken him up I thought that it seemed lighter outside than it normally does when we get up, so I looked at the clock again and saw that it was actually an hour later!! Oops!! I had to call the school to let them know that he was going to be late! Once I had dropped him off, I watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory while eating breakfast and drinking my tea. I’m now caught up, so I’m not going to be able to be watching this show in the morning any more!! It’s handy since it’s just a half an hour long. Once it was finished I went on the treadmill for an hour. Then I woke up my daughter. I called Costco, because they were supposed to call me on Monday about my younger daughter’s sample pairs of contact lenses and they hadn’t called yet. They said that they had left a message (which they hadn’t, there was not a missed call from Costco on either my phone or my daughter’s). However, I said that I would come to pick them up. So, instead of doing my yoga, I went upstairs and had a shower. Then my oldest daughter came with me and we went to the Nisku Costco. We brought her electric blanket with us. I bought it for her from Costco for Christmas and it’s already not working!! They no longer had any in stock to exchange it with (and she said that none of the stores had it). So I ended up returning it. She told me that I could probably find it online! I picked up the contacts and a few things from the store, then we drove back to Beaumont. On the way home, my daughter actually found the blanket online on the Costco website, so she ordered it with the refund from the blanket that we returned!! I filled up the van with gas and then went back home. My daughter was ready to leave for dance when I got there, so I pretty much dropped off one daughter and picked up the other one!! I drove her to the city and then drove back to town. I went to No Frills and then went home. When I got home my hubby reminded me of a few things that we needed from the grocery store, so I went back out again. My oldest daughter came with me this time. We went to both No Frills and Sobeys. Then we came home. It’s supposed to be getting really cold in the next few days, like plug the vehicle in cold and the batteries for the auto-start for the black car were dead. So after coming home for the second time, we went out again, this time to Dollarama and Home Hardware, looking for batteries! Then we came home yet again, this time for good!! I got supper started, it was a fairly simple meal. Then my daughter and I watched a couple episodes of Criminal Minds. My hubby actually went and picked up my daughter and her friend from dance tonight. When our show was over, we checked our laundry, hung some up and put some in the dryer and then I got my son ready for bed. Then I went on my phone. Now I’m going to get ready for bed.

Last Final For My Daughter!!

This morning I had my breakfast and tea after I dropped off my son at school. I watched this week’s episode of The Good Doctor with my hubby. Just as I was about to get on the treadmill, my daughter texted from the school to say that she was finished her exam. This was her last final of this session. So, she has tomorrow off. My hubby went to get her. Then I went downstairs on the treadmill for about 70 minutes. Afterwards, I came back upstairs. My daughter was watching something on the tv. She only had about 15 minutes though, before she had to get ready for work. When she started getting ready for work, I started my yoga DVD. Once that was finished, I had a shower. After my shower, my hubby went and picked up my son from school while I dried my hair. I had a quick snack, then I drove my daughter to dance. After dropping her off, I went to the Walmart. Then I went back to the studio to wait for her. I was feeling pretty tired, I actually fell asleep in the van while waiting for her. When she came out we drove back to town. I stopped at the Shoppers and bought her some cold medicine and some halls, because she’s not feeling well. Then we came home. We had supper when we got home. Then I went on my phone for a short while. I played a game with my son until it was time to get him ready for bed. Once he was in bed I went on my phone again. I’m still feeling pretty tired though, so I’m going to get myself ready for bed now!
