Sharry 13

Sharry opened her eyes and saw that she was standing just outside a little cabin. When she looked around, she saw that there was a beautiful river and at least 10 other cabins, just like the one she was standing by. They were arranged in a semi-circle, each with a small balcony facing the river. Just beyond the last cabin, was a huge lodge type building and some bigger cabins. She also saw a fire pit, a sandy area that almost looked like a volleyball pit and a huge field.  The field was where the action was at, there was a bunch of young people, about her age, that were doing all sorts of things, from target practice with a bow to what looked like a strategy course, to jumping off of a small cliff like they were trying to fly.  She felt like she was in a time warp, back to her one, failed, attempt at a summer sports camp! These camps were for super sporty, talented and strong kids. All the exact opposite of her. “What on earth are we doing here,”she thought to herself.

She was about to ask Jake why they were at summer camp, when she noticed the Angels. They were everywhere. Some looked to be guards, some were carefully watching the kids and others yet were correcting and teaching them and others were right in there working or maybe training with them. “I do not belong here,” she thought.

She looked up at Jake and said, “please tell me that this is not where I’m going to be training on Monday!!” Jake grinned, “yep. This is the heart of the Eve garden, we call it Camp Eve Heart. It’s the safest place for you to be right now.” Sharry looked over at the field again, there were weapons that she’d never heard of or seen before and many of the kids were bandaged, bleeding or limping.  She sighed, “I’m going to be sick. Where’s a bathroom?” “Just breath,” he said, “slowly in and out. Everything is going to work out just fine. You’ll see.” “Work out fine??? Jake, I graduated last year. I have a horrible job that I’m not particularly fond of, but anything is better than this!! Anything!!! I was 100%certain that I’d never have to survive another humiliating gym class ever again, let alone gym class with these super-powered kids!!! I don’t belong here!!” She shrieked, apparently a bit loud, as some heads turned her way. Some smiled at her and others laughed and started whispering. “See!!” Sharry said in a controlled whisper, trying not to shout.  “It’s begun already! I’m not even out in that dreadful field yet and they’re already laughing!! I can’t do this Jake. I want to go home!!! Pleeaase??” She begged him. “I’m not going to make you participate today, I was just going to walk around with you to give you the tour and to introduce you to whomever we meet along the way,” he said. She felt like a petulant child and could actually feel her lips quivering, but there was no way that she would allow herself to cry, not here with all of these Angels and half Angels everywhere.  She bit her lip to stop the quivering. “I just want to go home!!” She said desperately, but Jake had already started walking away and glanced over his shoulder and motioned to her to join him. Reluctantly, she caught up to him and walked along side him.

“These cabins or barracks, as Michael likes to call them, are for the nephilim. This is where you’ll stay, if we can figure things out with your mom.  Each cabin has space for 6,” Jake said. Sharry had stopped and was staring, petrified, at the field. “I never thought there’d be this many Nephilim,” she said. “This is crazy, you know how easy this is going to be for Lucifer?? Look at them all! We’re dead meat, aren’t we Jake?”  Jack replied,” we’re ahead of him so far. We have almost all of the Nephilim, we have the lists, he doesn’t, we just have to keep him out and get all of you ready. ”  “But if it could be anyone of us, why doesn’t he just swoop down here and grab one of us?” A panicked Sharry asked. “Well, for two reasons really,” Jake said, “first of all, he can’t see where we are because it’s being cloaked, and it’s very well guarded. Secondly, there’s a part of the prophecy that speaks about “The Chosen One” and we haven’t quite figured out that part yet. What we do know is that it can’t just be any old nephilim, there’s a specific one. We just have to figure out who this chosen one is…we don’t know, but the good news is that we don’t think Lucifer has figured out that part of the prophecy, as well. Now, back to your tour,  we’ve made it to the lodge. We’ll go inside first since it’s probably less busy at this time of day.” So they walked toward the lodge, as they walked they passed a lot of people and Angels and the thing Sharry picked up on immediately was that almost every girl, human or Angel, smiled at Jake and tried to get him to talk to her. They giggled and batted their eyes and probably 90%of them glared at Sharry a great deal as she was being introduced   She’d never felt so out of place. They entered the lodge and she wasn’t paying attention, she literally ran smack into Michael. “Oh my God I’m…” she saw the cringing all around the quiet room, “sorry, this is still new for me! I mean oh my goodness! I’m so so sorry Michael.” “Not a problem,”Michael said, “I can have beautiful women run into me all day long!” They heard some chuckles, but Jake was not smiling, he was looking at Michael like he was ready to rip his throat out. “Babe, it’s fine. It was just a joke!!”Sharry said. This created even more chuckles and whispers.

Michael just ignored everything but them and said, in a very serious voice, “I was just going to look for you, I guess I can call off the search party. I’m so relieved to see you’re in one piece!” He said this as he gave Sharry a huge bear hug, like a big brother would, but Sharry couldn’t help but feel how strong and fit he was while returning the hug.  Jake sighed in an exaggerated manner and tapped Michael on the shoulder, “uh, why the hugs and the search party??? What’s going on Michael?” Michael let go, almost reluctantly, of Sharry, cleared his groat and said, “we have to talk. But we need privacy!! Now! Follow me!” He lead them across the huge hall area and into a room, which looked like an office. “Okay. Have a seat,” he said while gesturing toward some chairs.  “I have some really bad…” he quickly glanced at Sharry, “actually, terrible news!” He looked at her again, but didn’t look away this time. He cleared his throat again and Sharry braced herself, she knew it was going to be bad, why else would Michael be acting like this?? “Sharry. I’m so so so sorry, but we think that Lucifer has your mother…” “WHAT!!” She yelled and jumped up out of her chair, which fell to the floor with a loud crash! “How the hell did that happen??? How do you know…? What the…No!! You’re wrong!” Sharry grabbed her phone and called her mom, but it just rang and rang. “C’mon, c’mon, c’mon” she repeated over and over until she slammed it onto the table! “How do you know?? What if she just ran to the store or something?? I thought you had guards stationed around the house!? That’s what Jake told me?! How could this have happened? Why me? Why my mom??”
