Great Canadian Dance Challenge Day 3

This morning my daughter, who’s absolutely a morning person, was supposed to wake us up to make breakfast on time. However, she woke up originally at 7:00 and didn’t want to get up that early. She continued lying in bed and ended up falling back to sleep. So, we slept through breakfast!! Oops! She got ready to dance and then we left about 15 minutes early and went to Wendy’s on our way. She ate super quickly and went inside to get to the change rooms on time. I finished my food in the van and then went inside. I waited in the lobby for my mom and dad. We went into the theatre once they arrived. Two of the adult groups from our studio were performing in the category before my daughter’s. They were fun to watch. They did really well and ended up with a gold and a high-gold. The group who got high-gold came in first. For my daughter’s category, they had three hip hop dances from our studio in their category. My daughter was in two of them. They received gold for both, the other group from the studio also got gold, as well as the choreography award. Once they were finished, we met my daughter in the lobby. She was pretty miserable , because she is just not feeling well. Her nose won’t stop running and she is coughing continuously!! She barely talked to any of us and just wanted to go back to the hotel room to rest until this evening. My parents went back home and my daughter and I went to the hotel. We went to Shoppers quickly and bought my daughter some good tissues and cold medicine, she only had cough suppressant. Back in the room we flopped on our beds and relaxed. We thought that we had to be back by 7:20 – 7:30. It turns out that there was an error in the program and after about 3 categories before hers they accidentally skipped an hour. Instead of the category starting at 6:45, they put 7:45. It throws off the rest of the night and all of the start times! We actually had to arrive by about 6:30!! So, after watching some HGTV and doing nothing, we had to get back to the theatre again. The good thing is that they were finished earlier!! Tonight’s group was lyrical. They were, yet again, a lot younger than everyone else in the category!! That would be nerve wracking, always being the younger ones. Their lyrical dance was actually amazing!! They ended up receiving a gold and second place. After we left we decided to just get something quick to eat. We brought our food back to the hotel room. After eating, we each had a shower. Then we watched a bit of tv and I wrote this post. Now I’m going to head to bed. Night All! 💤😴

The Great Canadian Dance Challenge Day 2

This morning my daughter and I had to leave earlier than yesterday. Not super early, we had to go by 10:30, with whatever we will need until Sunday. Her first dance today was her variety duo. It’s pretty funny! Definitely very entertaining to watch! There were 5 duos from her studio in the same category. The morning/early afternoon judge is much more difficult than the afternoon/evening one that we had yesterday! She is quite particular and very nit-picking. Anyway, they did really well and received a high-silver. We found out after that their score was 84.5. For a gold you need a score of 85. So they were ridiculously close! Once we met in the lobby, we went to the Walmart and I bought some eye drops, as my one eye is red and sore for some reason. We also got a few drinks to bring to the hotel room with us. While she was rehearsing earlier, I called the hotel and asked them if we could check in early. They said that we could check in any time, because our room is ready. So from Walmart, we went to our hotel and checked in for the weekend. We had a lot of time to kill, but we were both feeling tired, she’s actually sick right now with a horrible cough and today her nose wouldn’t stop running! I’m actually going to buy her some better tissues as the ones in the hotel room feel like sandpaper, according to my daughter. We each lied down in our beds and just bummed out for quite a while! We were both feeling tired and lazy, so instead of going to get something to eat, we just ordered a couple small pizzas up to our room. After eating a couple pieces, I lied back down in the bed. I actually fell asleep for a good hour, hour and a half! When I woke up, she was texting with her group, trying to figure out what time they needed to be back at the Dow Theatre for tonight’s dance. One teacher said 8:20 and the other one said 7:20!! Quite the difference of opinion!! We decided to go in between the two times. The hotel is only about a block away from the theatre, so the drive and/or walk is easy. She usually has a ton of stuff, which is why we would drive. Despite the fact that I slept for a bit, or perhaps because of it, while they were rehearsing and I was waiting around I couldn’t stop yawning. Tonight’s dance started late, it wasn’t until 9:20! At least there were only 5 groups in the category, so it went quickly. The style is called modern at the studio my daughter attends. Some other places call it contemporary. I don’t know if there’s a big difference between them. The actual category was called modern/contemporary. The afternoon/evening judge was back! I like her more. They did really great! Especially with how sick she’s feeling. They received a gold for tonight’s performance. They were the youngest group in the category again!! On our way back to the hotel we went through the Wendy’s drive through, which is right beside our hotel. We brought the food up to our room with us. By the time we finished eating it was getting late. We both still felt tired. Tomorrow she doesn’t dance too early, we have to get up though, if we want the breakfast in the morning, which we do!! It’s from 7:00-10:00. We will probably go around 9:00-9:30, no reason to go too early!! Well, I’m feeling tired now. I should get some sleep so I’m not tired all day tomorrow again. I wish my tummy was not so blechy!! I can’t wait to see what they have to say about it on Monday. Just a couple more days!! Night All! 💤😴

Dance Competition Day 1

Today was a long day. It was the first day of the Great Canadian Dance Challenge, the dance competition that my daughter is in all weekend. It is in Fort Saskatchewan. We had to leave today by 12:45. I spent most of the morning helping her when she needed it, as well as packing a bag, because we’re staying in The Best Western tomorrow night and Saturday night. It’s just so much easier if you have a place close by to go to. Especially when she dances late (like tomorrow night) and when there are really long breaks in between dances. When there’s a lot of time to kill and you have to hang out at the theatre or in the lobby it sucks! Today her first dance was her solo. My mom and dad met me in the lobby and we watched a few categories before hers and then her category. She did really well! There were a lot of kids in her category, a few 13 year olds and a few 14 year olds, then her and a bunch of other 15 year olds. She received a high-silver. I’m pretty sure that the program said that means her score was between 82 – 84.9 out of 100. A ridiculously small few scores you can get, just a 2.9 point spread to get high silver. Anyway, she did well. Her next dance wasn’t until 7:40! Speaking of having time to kill… My mom and dad didn’t really want to wait that long, so we said goodbye to them and they went home. Then I got my daughter some food and then she went and met her friends. I played around on my phone for a while. Then I went to the Walmart to buy some Easter 🐣 stuff. I took my time in the store. Then I went back to the theatre and went and sat down. I watched the ballet category before theirs. Then their jazz category started. After the first group I was worried! They were up against some very talented dancers! Also, they were against a lot of older kids. Although my daughter is 15, she dances with younger kids for jazz, lyrical and modern. She’s almost too old to be with them, but still too young to be with the seniors. So she sort of goes back and forth, depending on the class. Her hip hop and ballet are with the seniors. Anyway, the average age of her group is written as 12-13, there are some 14 year olds and then her. So their group, which is entered under the average age, was against 16, 17 and 18 year olds, including the seniors from our studio. Watching the groups ahead of them had me nervous for them. However, I didn’t need to be. They went out and killed it! I mean they were on fire!! When the adjudication came, they were awarded high-gold!! They were happy with that, as they should be! However, it got better. There were only 3 groups in the category who received high-gold, so I knew they would place. For some reason I assumed that they would get 3rd, probably because of their age, but they came in first!! Yay!! WooHoo!! So far they are on the board to be in the dance off Sunday night, with a score of 92. The top 4 groups for each judge, so that’s 8 groups will be in the dance off. Plus, each judge is allowed a wild card group, which is just a dance they liked that may not necessarily have a high score. There placement could change, depending on the scores of other dances throughout the weekend. Once they were finished, we got into the van to drive home. We stopped at the Shell and got gas, then we drove back home. It was/still is super windy – you sure could feel it in the van while driving!! Once we were home, I finished packing my bag for tomorrow, then got ready for bed and wrote this post. I tried to make it quick, but I may not have succeeded! I’m heading to bed now. Sooo sick and tired! Night All! 💤😴

A Parasite??!!

Well, it’s super late and I’m super nauseous! My tummy has been bad all day, but my supper really didn’t sit well and it’s just awful right now. This morning I stayed up for a while, but around 10:40 I decided to lie down and nap. Just before lying down, the dr’s office called and said that the dr, who had me do the lab test to see if I had a parasite, wanted to see me to discuss my test results. I assume that means they found something, because they don’t usually call you in if the test comes back normal. So I now have an appointment to see the dr on Monday. I have to continue to wait and feel sick for another four days! I wish they would just tell me over the phone!! Oh well, I guess I have to wait, I don’t have much of a choice. When I did lie down, I had a nice long nap. I woke up around 2:00. I stayed in bed for a while after. My daughter came up around 3:15 and we started talking. We talked for a long time. Around 4:30 we took all of her measurements for a dress that she’s having made. Then she tried some things on to wear to the job fair that she’s going to this weekend. Nothing really worked. So we decided to drive my other daughter to dance, that way we could go shopping afterwards. We first went to Winners, because I love Winners! Then we went to Reitmans. We got her clothes at both places. Afterwards we went to BP’s to eat supper and kill time until we had to pick up my daughter. My mom called me right after we ordered. We decided to get our food to go and took it to my parent’s house to eat it there and visit. We had to leave at 9:15 to pick my daughter up by 9:30. On the way home we stopped at the Walmart to buy a few things that she needs for tomorrow’s competition. Then we drove home. Once we got home it was already almost 11:00!! I was feeling pretty sick. My daughter was coughing up a storm! She doesn’t want to be coughing at the competition tomorrow. She looked up a bunch of home remedies for coughs and decided to try a whole bunch! She ate a clove of garlic. She gargled with cider vinegar and with lemon/salt water. She she had oil of oregano. She had vitamin C. Then, after a quick shower, when I was saying goodnight to her, she had some cough medicine. I hope something helps and she can sleep tonight!! After she was in bed, I got ready for bed too and then I did this post. I’m off to bed though.

Night All! 💤😴

More Glasses!

I stayed up all day again today. No naps for me. I was feeling pretty sick and tired, but I didn’t lie down. My day felt like it mirrored yesterday. At least during the day. Around 2:15 my daughter and I went back to Vision Gallery, where we bought their glasses last week. My daughter’s glasses were right behind her ears and it was bugging her. They adjusted her glasses and then, after a great deal of searching, we found a pair for me. My hubby and I decided, since my prescription changed, that I should get a new pair too, while we are still insured. It seemed to take forever to find a pair that worked, but we finally did! Afterwards, we went home and got the old propane tank and took it to Shell, to trade it for a new one. Then we went to Sobeys and got some things for supper. I prepared everything and then my hubby bbq’d it all. It was quite nice out. After we ate supper, my hubby and daughter left for dance. We cleaned up the table and watched a quick show. Then my daughter did the French book and word list with my son, while I went on the treadmill. She put him to bed before I even got off the treadmill!! Two nights in a row when someone else put him to bed!! I came upstairs and she was still lying beside him, even though he was sleeping. She went back downstairs and I had a quick shower. Afterwards I got ready for bed and then wrote my this!! Now I’m going to go to bed. Night All! 💤😴

Hot Water Baby!!

I’m so tired right now. This is going to be a short post, because my tummy is sick and I need to go to bed. For once I stayed up and didn’t go back to bed!! I really didn’t do a whole lot, but I was awake! Around 11:00, the plumbers came to take out our old hot water tank and install a new one. Yay! I will be able to take a hot bath again, rather than a lukewarm one!! How exciting! I can shower longer than 10 minutes and still have hot water!! Very very wonderful! The price wasn’t that wonderful, but our old one was 17 years old and dying a quick death! So, we didn’t have a big choice in the matter, it kind of had to get done. I didn’t hear from the dr today. I was hoping that my lab report would be in. I’m going to call them tomorrow and ask about it. If it came up clear, then they need to help me figure out why I’ve been feeling ill since we returned from Jamaica. The guys were working in our basement for a good 3 hours! Some of our pipes were super clogged and needed to be replaced as well, so it cost us a bit more than we anticipated, but, like I said, it needed to get done! When school was out I went and picked up the kids. My hubby wanted to put together the new BBQ that he bought, so I drove my daughter to dance. I didn’t have a lot of time to kill, dance was shorter than usual today, so instead of going to my parent’s house, like I usually do, I just went bumming around a few stores. Window shopping and buying face wash and lotion that I needed. Once I picked her up and we drove home, I quickly ate and hopped onto the treadmill. I’m trying to make it a habit. I need to get into better shape and lose more weight. Well…that’s the goal anyway. After I got off the treadmill, my hubby had already put my son to bed. A night off for me!! So, I went upstairs and had a nice, long shower – because I could!!! Hee hee!! After my shower I got ready for bed and sat in bed to write this. Now it’s late and I’m going to hit the hay! Night All! 💤😴

Mom And Dad’s

I slept in and stayed in bed for a while once I woke up, just like yesterday. I would’ve stayed in bed even longer, but I had to get my daughter to her solo practice and there were a few things around the house that I had to get done before leaving. Once I dropped her off, I drove my other daughter and son to my parent’s house. My dad helped me put washer fluid into my van and then I drove back to the dance studio and picked up my daughter. We then drove back to my parent’s place. My dad had left with my son to go sledding. We visited for a while and looked online for job openings for my daughter. Then we started to play the game Five Crowns. My dad and my son came back while we were playing and they joined us. My hubby arrived when we were just stopping our game to set the table for supper. We had supper, it was great! Then we had coffee and played Wizard. We went home when we finished the game. Once we were home, my son had a quick bath and read his French book with his sister. Then it was time for bed. I was wanting to lie down, because of my tummy. However, I had to get my son into bed first. Now I am going to lie down. Night All! 💤😴

Dumb Tum

I slept in pretty late today. I woke up a few times, but I just wasn’t feeling well, so I kept going back to sleep. Once I finally did wake up, I stayed in bed, awake, for a while. My hubby, oldest daughter and son all came into the bedroom to talk to me. I sat up and we talked for about an hour before we actually went downstairs. My daughter had dance today, so around 3:30 my hubby and her left. The three of us were in the living room together. My son was on his iPad and my daughter and I watched a show on HGTV. When it was over, my son went on the tv to play Mario Kart. My daughter helped him and I went through the dance email that had the schedule for next weeks dance competition to see what times my daughter dances at. I wrote her times down, then sent it to my mom and to my daughter, in case she wanted to have it on her phone. Once I finished doing this, I went to Sobeys to get something to cook for supper. I came home and cooked supper. We ate in the living room, both my hubby and dancing daughter came home and left again, she went to a birthday party and he went to have a drink with a friend. We watched a couple episodes of Criminal Minds together. Then I went on the treadmill for 40 minutes. Afterwards I had a quick shower before bed. I am going to lie my stupid tummy down. Until tomorrow! Night All! 💤😴

A Sicko Day

I stayed up this morning with my hubby for a few hours. My tummy was really bad when I first woke up. I felt like I was going to be sick, so I just sat on the couch and didn’t move. I’ve been waiting for the lab, but didn’t hear anything today. So I guess I have to wait until Monday now. Around 11:00 I finally ate something. It didn’t really change how I was feeling. I finally just went to bed at about 12:30. I slept until 3:00. My oldest daughter came up around then and we talked for a while. The Vision Gallery, where I ordered the girls glasses, called and told me that their glasses were ready for pick up. So I got dressed and the three of us went to get them. Then we went to Sobeys and back home. My hubby and my son were playing Mario Kart when we got back. We watched them for a bit after putting the groceries away. Then I decided to start cooking supper. I made a big pot of chilli. We had it with fresh buns from Sobeys and it was quite good. After supper, we all just talked for a long time. Then after cleaning up the table I went downstairs and walked on the treadmill for about 45 minutes. That’s three days in a row, despite feeling ill. Yay me!! I have to get back in shape somehow. Slowly but surely. Once I was finished, it was time to get my son and I upstairs to get ready for bed. He’s sleeping and I’m about to join him.

Night All! 💤😴

Finally Aggy Gets Groomed!!

I’m wondering how long it’ll take for the dr to get the results from my lab test. Probably not going to happen until early next week. I hope that they don’t tell me that everything is fine. I really want an explanation for why I feel like I do. I’m so so over feeling sick and nauseous. I never thought I would be hoping to have a parasite, but there you go. This morning my tummy was really bad. I had a small breakfast and sat on the couch with my hubby. I tried to watch tv with him, but I was having a difficult time keeping my eyes open and I was feeling awful. After futilely trying to stay awake, I ended up half falling asleep on the couch. Finally, around 11:00, I gave in and went upstairs to lie down. I slept for a while. My hubby came upstairs to wake me up around 2:30. My alarm had already gone off, I was awake I just hadn’t actually gotten out of bed yet. I got up then and got dressed and ready to go. My oldest daughter came with me. We left around 3:15. My son was walking home from school with his friend, they were going to his friend’s house to play, so we didn’t have to pick him up today. My daughter and I had to drive to the city, just to Ellerslie and about 68st, which is not far from Beaumont. We took our shitzu, Aggy, to a groomer there. We dropped her off at about 3:30. She was in desperate need of a cut. Her fur was quite long and matted. Poor girl. She looked like a mop!! Well now she looks very different! While she was there, my daughter and I went to South Common. We went to the Sephora and then to the Indigo/Chapters. After the bookstore it was time to go pick Aggy up. Once we had her and drove back to Beaumont, I quickly went to Shoppers and Sobeys and then I picked up my son from his friend’s house. We went home from there. We were all quite hungry, so I made supper right away. My daughter doesn’t dance late on Thursdays, so they were getting home just as supper was ready. After supper I helped my hubby put the knob on the kitchen pantry door. Then I got changed and went on the treadmill for 40 minutes. I finished just in time to get my son ready for bed. I also got ready for bed and then I wrote this. Now me and my sick tummy are going to lie down. Night All! 💤😴
