Come Back Home

Alone she sits

Staring out the window

Wondering if

He’ll ever come back home

Filled with hope

Not wanting to give in

Certain that

He will come back home

Time passed

Her loneliness increases

She questions herself

And if he’ll come back home

Still she sits

Not ready to give up

Trusting that

He’ll come back home

All of her friends

Tell her to move on

They’re sure that

He’ll never come back home

Still she sits

Staring down the driveway

Watching for his car

To finally come back home

She sits still

Staring in the mirror

Wondering why

He hasn’t come back home

She sits on the front porch

Thinking about him

Doubting that

He’ll ever come back home

Out with friends

She sees him with another

Their eyes meet, and she knows

He will never come back home

Alone she sits

Staring out the window

A car pulls in the driveway

A new man has come

To take her back home

He sits in her driveway

Wondering where she is

But, he took too long

To finally come back home…

Lost Track Of Time

I had a long day and lost track of time

I forgot all about coming up with a rhyme

Now it’s late and I’m going to bed

I have no words left in my head

Some days I find it a bit of a struggle

To find something to say amidst all the muddle

Some days I barely have to think

The words just flow as if from a sink

But tonight I’m blank, nothing is flowing

So I guess that soon I’d better be going

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be more on the ball

Because writing stuff like this sucks, all in all

So until tomorrow I say goodnight

Hopefully everyone sleeps alright 💤💤

Rhymes With Tonight…

I’m stuck tonight

Don’t know what to write

Makes me feel up-tight

My brain won’t turn on the light

I won’t give up without a fight

This likely won’t delight

But there’s really no wrong or right

I’m trying with all my might

But nothing seems to want to ignite

So I warn you that this will probably bite

It won’t come close to taking flight

Don’t worry, it’s alright

I have good nights and some fill me with fright

Who knew so many words rhymed so airtight

I feel like flying a kite

But it’s far too late at night

My neighbors may think I’m crazy outright

If so I hope they’d feel contrite

Despite this being out of sight

I may just have to call it a night

I think it’s time to expedite

The speed of this to the speed of light

So farewell and goodnight

Until tomorrow when I write

Her Beautiful Spirit

Grace followed in her wake.

Her presence made you stronger!

A flower blossom wasn’t as sweet!

Her soul would linger longer…

Her smile could tame a thousand men!

But she’d never use it as a ploy.

Her eyes shone brighter than the sun.

Her laughter filled the room with joy!

Yet, above all else was her spirit,

It danced and sang with the sun!

It would simply attract you to her.

Being near her was second to none!

She just plain shone as if within,

You’d find a shining light!

God worked through her in miraculous ways,

She’d draw you toward his light!

The Twinge

At first it’s light,

Not much to show.

Then there’s some more,

It’s about to go!

That first small twinge,

Is there to warn.

Pain is coming,

It blows it’s horn!

I must prepare.

Get set to fight!

I’ll likely have,

The pain all night.

Without that twinge,

I wouldn’t know,

Pain’s on it’s way,

Soon it will show.

And sure enough,

My face screams out!

The pain is here,

Without a doubt.

So So Tired

After the concert, it’s so so late

Time for bed, too much to say

Such a great time, so much to see

So worn out, that’s all for today

Poised

Falling through time and space

Open to everything in my mind

Willing to do it all

Excited to see what I’ll find

Ready to do whatever it takes

Knowing there’s so much out there

Wanting to grab it all

Ready to get my share

In awe of all that is

Knowing I’ve barely touched it

Moving with eyes wide open

Prepared for life’s next hit

Sighing in wonder and joy

Poised to take it all in

Wondering at a lifetime of beauty

Missing it all would be a sin

My Viewpoint

Floating on a cloud, towards oblivion.

Gradually, my brain begins to slow.

My thoughts are generally a jumbled up mess!

Instead, clear decipherable thoughts flow.

What can I accomplish with enhanced clarity?

What can I do when I can actually focus?

Write. I can write write write…

This stuff works like hocus-pocus!

It’s the only thing that touches the pain.

Clearly the biggest benefit I know!

Also, my “high” poems are often the good ones!

I don’t over-analyze, the words just flow.

I’m filled with creativity and ideas,

And, yes, they’re usually the better ones!

Also, I’m confident in what I come up with!

I don’t question myself, tons!

There is a negative side of course;

That is, for me, inside I’m confident and assured,

However, on the outside I get a bit anxious,

Mainly about getting judged and measured,

This is generally from those who are “against,”

My choice in medications!

The uneducated people get me incensed!

Don’t spout your mouth off,

If you don’t know what you’re talking about!!

Don’t think it makes you better than me,

Your ignorance does not get you clout!!

The other negative side effect, for me is…

My memory!! It is horrid while I’m “medicated!!”

For once, my hubby says, it’s worse than his!

So that’s where it takes me,

That’s all it does, both the good and the bad

But anything that even puts a little dent in my pain,

I’m keeping; regardless of those who may get mad!!

I Used To Be Oblivious

So many are oblivious

To those around them

Who choose to suffer

In silence

With an invisible illness

They do not understand

That invisible illnesses exist

They are ignorant and

Unaware that people live

Full lives while silently

Suffering in pain

Physically, emotionally, mentally and psychologically

I knew all about depression

Because I have lived with depression

Since I was a teenager

As did my mother, when I was

Just a young girl

Whom I remember comforting and holding while she cried

I knew all about

The horrible stigmas

That one with depression must overcome

People can be soooo “judgy”

People with depression are often

Seen as weak, or lazy

Among many other condescending things

How uncompassionate people are

People judge, they do and say whatever they choose,

But truly they speak Ignorantly, simply without a clue

About what it’s truly like

To live a life overcome by an invisible illness

They are clueless regarding

What it’s actually like living with it

Day in and day out

Until perhaps they’re blindsided themselves

Or someone that they love is hit with an invisible illness

Having TN and depression, smacked upside the head like a double whammy,

Originally forced me to

Get it together, act like I’m fine

Well, let me tell you, I was NOT fine

I was raised to be polite, follow rules

Keep it together

And always act like you’re okay

Well, guess what

That’s not humanly possible

The pain that TN is known for

Is nerve pain, particularly, nerve pain

On your face

It’s a brutal pain to have to live with, it’s referred to as the MOST painful disorder known to mankind

Needless to say, it’s extremely difficult

To behave “normally”

When you feel like you’re dying moment by moment

When you cannot physically get out of bed

Care for your children

Brush your teeth

Function like a normal human being

Once you experience it

You totally understand why it’s often called

The Suicide disorder

How terribly sad…

I’m not suicidal myself,

Not for my sake, but because of my children

But I can empathize with the feeling, with the absolute need to escape the pain, it’s not a want, it’s a need

That question that pops into your head

“I have to have this fucking pain for the

rest of my life”

It can be very scary and sad indeed, I understand the desire to escape…the very real need for it to end

It is no surprise to me that the vast majority of TN sufferers also fight depression

I’ve become the shell of the person

That I once was

I’m no longer Nieve, innocent, and Ignorant

Regarding invisible illnesses

And I knew all about them…

So, why don’t you try

To find some compassion

Maybe you truly need to live

A day in the life of a person fighting an invisible illness

Or just talk to one of us

Please just say, “I don’t understand”

This opens up a conversation

And conversations ignite

UNDERSTANDING and COMPASSION

Then one day you can say,

“I used to be oblivious

To those around me

Who choose to suffer in silence

To those who have invisible illnesses

But now I understand and I want to help!!”

A Night Without Pain

A night without pain

Like a breath of fresh air

To fall asleep easily

With not even a care

Generally nights drag

And I’m up all hours

Or else I sleep under

Super drug powers

To lie in bed quietly

Just thinking and dreaming

Instead of passed out dead

Or practically screaming

A night without pain

What a treat that would be

Let me know if it happens

It never does for me
