Anniversary Party

My last art class was today. We used the strip of paper that was left over from cutting the big sheets of paper. She folded the strips like a fan and had us paint mini pictures in a series on each flat before the fold. Then she punched holes in the strips and we put a small dowel through the holes. It's a neat way to display your paintings!! It was the last class 😞 It went by too fast and makes me sad that it's over.

When I got home from my class, I made a quick phone call to the SalmonArm veterinary clinic. Our dog, Daisy, has been limping. It seemed like instead of healing, it was getting worse. She was putting hardly any weight on it. So, they had an opening because someone canceled. After I had a quick sandwich, we drove to SalmonArm and made it ten minutes early to the appointment. When they called us in, the vet looked at her good paw first, to get her comfortable with him touching her and moving her paw all over. Then he took her bad paw and felt all around the pads and looked all through it for slivers or anything that could be bugging her. He felt all the way up her paw, but she hardly flinched and he couldn't find anything in it. He did find a little stick stuck in one of her back paws. He checked her out all over and discovered that she has an ear infection in one of her ears!! In the end he decided that it's most likely a "soft tissue" injury, like a sprain. He gave us some anti- inflammatories for the next three days. He also gave us ear drops for her ear infection. Before we left with her, they clipped all of her claws for us and cut the fur out of her paw to check and make sure that there was nothing stuck in it. They also cleaned her ear really well to get rid of the goop.

When we got back home, it was time for the anniversary party. Their actual anniversary is tomorrow, but my aunt Marilyn and LT leave in the morning. Their weren't really many more people than there has been all week! My parents neighbours came over. For the first hour or so it was two different neighbours, but the one family didn't stay very long. Once they left, it was only two people more than there's been all week!! We ate, they opened gifts, including the picture I made for them. It's what I was working on when I said that I was working on my "project" before I left for BC. It was/is a family tree that is all decorated with different things that represent them. I was going to post a photo of it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to because I don't usually write my kids or many other people's names on here. I don't know why. So, I haven't decided yet. They really liked it though. It's difficult to explain, but it's pretty cool. They also got a picture frame and some wine. Then we had cake too. That was about it. Then we sat out on the deck, visiting. That's actually where I am right now. Feeling tired, with my face still hurting, so I'm going to head to bed now. Night All! 💤😴

Purple Trees

I can't believe that today was already my second last art class!! Wow! Has it ever gone by quickly. It makes me kind of sad. You know, when you're looking so forward to something and you can't wait for it too happen, then when it does it flies by or it's not what you expected… Today I was happy with a few of my paintings. We painted birch trees. They weren't easy, but I ended up with a couple that I really like. One purple toned one and another red/orange one. It's probably the most pleased I've been since we started! I'll post a picture of one when I bring them here. All of my stuff is in the art barn at Sorrento Centre. I really want to keep going. What I need is practice! I stayed longer today. I finished a tree picture, then the instructor did an extra demonstration. She showed us how to fold some little books that can hold some of the mini pictures we've been working on. She also measured and scored my big sheet of paper, so that I ended up with a bunch of post card size and 5"x 7" size sheets. I bought one of her sheets, so I still have the sheet from the lady who was so sweet at the beginning of the week and helped me out by selling me her sheet of watercolour paper. I can cut smaller ones, or a few bigger ones to try. My options are open. The little ones are neat, but I like the bigger ones that you can frame afterwards. Maybe I'll do something bigger, like a northern lights or more trees. I'll have to think about it.

We are now stranded at my parent's house! I've been using my dad's truck to get back and forth to my art classes. But we had to take the van into a shop in Sorrento!! That sucks for many reasons! I mean who wants the car being worked on while you're on your holidays?? Something is wrong with the brakes , we probably need all new brake pads, also, according to my hubby, the roaters are a mess too! Too frustrating!! The stupid thing is that my hubby took it in for an oil change and stuff, before we were leaving for our holiday and he said they told him that the brakes were fine!! Imbecile!! Obviously he was clueless! My hubby said that, during the whole ride here, whenever you pressed the brakes he could feel the whole van shaking. Then, once he was here, while driving to the beach yesterday, we noticed a whining noise whenever you turned left. So, long story short we have no vehicle of our own we had to take to ours to the shop!!

After her extra demonstration, I drove back to mom and dad's. I actually didn't even get back home until like 4:00!! By that time I got home it was almost supper time. They were all waiting for me. My hubby, son and Marilyn decided to go canoeing in Marilyn and LT's canoe. My mom and dad, and both of my girls went in my parent's boat. My youngest spent most of her time behind the boat, and she loved it!! LT and I stayed behind. My face is hurting today- stupid thing❗️LT played her bagpipes while I ate a sandwich. Then we each had naps. I sure felt like I needed it! After everyone got back, I gave my little man a quick bath. I just wanted to keep him from getting swimmers itch. My hubby and both girls have it. It's really bad on my hubby.!! After supper we all played Phase10, and then …here we are!! Way too late! Way too tired! Beyond ready for bed!!Night All! 💤😴

Painting Me!!

The family is upstairs watching Beauty And The Beast, well everyone but my son, because I just put him to bed, and my hubby, because he was super tired and kept falling asleep, so he went to bed. I was watching it, but my little man was tired so I had to put him to bed. Then I sat down to start writing this while I made sure he was asleep. I was worried if I left the room he would get back up and follow me. He's sleeping on a foamy on the floor, in the bedroom that my hubby and I are staying in. I'm pretty sure he's asleep now, but I can hear the movie and it's right at the end when they all turn human again! Oops! Spoiler alert a little late – but I can't imagine people don't know the story. It's the same as the animated one and the musical. I didn't let the dogs out…I sure hope that my kiddos remember to. I'll have to ask the girls when they come down. Daisy is afraid of my parent's stairs for some reason. They're a little slippery. Also, she's limping a lot right now and we don't know why. It's strange because she doesn't seem to be suffering, yet she's oping a lot. You can touch her paw and all the way up her leg and she seems fine. She hardly reacts at all. It's strange. I just can't figure out what's wrong. I thought it might be because of a really bad mat in her fur, right up in her paw, but my aunt cut all of her mats off (yay!! Thank you again!!) So, she doesn't like the stairs at ALL!! Sadly, we're all staying down stairs, so she has no choice, her food is down here, so my aunt's dog won't eat any of it and she sleeps downstairs with us.

I can't believe I already had my third art class today! I feel like I just got here and my class is already passed the half-way point!! How sad is that?? Today she started the class by demonstrating how to cut the big sheets of paper down into the size you want. It sounds simple, but I don't even have any of the equipment that she used!! I don't know how I'll do it at home!! Huh? I guess I'll have to figure out what to do. Hmmmmmm. We did more than just the paper cutting, but I'm falling asleep and I can't remember what else we did…hmmm.. oh right! She taught us a way to paint the Northern lights. Mine didn't really work well, I'm going to try again tomorrow though.

We spent the afternoon at the beach. Then got ice cream and went back to mom and dad's house. We all got ready for supper together, then had a big g supper together. There was a variety on the table from salmon burgers to steak to chicken. Everyone had a preference!! We played spoons for a bit after supper. Then put on Beauty And The Beast. And the rest is history. I keep falling asleep. I'm done! This took forever and I have to get up tomorrow morning…arg❗️❗️❗️❗️. I'm outta here!! Sooooo tired… Night All! 💤😴

Family Arrives!!

Today was the second day of my watercolour class. We learned some more techniques. There's so much that it's difficult to remember!! We did wet on wet landscapes, leaving white in the middle. We're still working on the very small sized sheets of paper. We practiced lifting paint off of the paper, with a tissue and with a brush. We did a bunch of layered washes over each other. We made a field of flowers. We fiddled with our brushes to see what kind of marks they can make! It was good. I wish I had raw talents that would make my , but I'm trying and I like it, do that's what is important right??

After my class I had a quick sandwich, then my mom, dad and I went into SalmonArm. (Marilyn and LT went to Vernon for the day. ) We went to the office supply/art store to look for a dagger paint brush for my class. We went to the two office supply/art stores in town, but we couldn't find the right brush. I ended up calling a couple of art stores in Vernon. I found one that had some and my Marilyn picked one up for me. I did buy some more paints, including a tube of white, since I didn't have one. We've been using 1/4 inch masking tape in class and dad had the idea to look at Lordco, an automobile supply shop and they had two rolls of it. So I bought both!!

After the paintbrush hunt, we went to Save On Foods for some groceries (I ran into Shoppers for a charcoal face mask, because my pores are a mess and I have too many blackheads in my nose…just what everyone was dying to hear!!). I got a few groceries at Save On and mom got some too. Then we looked for some paper plates, etc for Friday's anniversary party that mom and dad are having. We couldn't find anything at Walmart or Dollarama that was anniversary related. So we just bought blue plates and matching napkins with cupcakes on them and some plastic cutlery. No dishes for us on Friday!! My aunt and LT found a "Happy Anniversary" banner, so they did a bit better than us!! After the a Walmart, we drove back to mom and dad's.

When we got home, I fiddled around with my new paints and a piece of dad's paper that I cut in four. Marilyn and LT got home, so I tried out the new brush and paints. I wasn't happy with any of the paintings that I ended up with…they were all garbage! I guess it's good to practice and fiddle around, but I really wasn't happy with the results. I'm not sure if it's the paper or what, it just wasn't very good. However, there's something about the process that I enjoy. It's very relaxing, I just feel good when I do it. I fiddled around until supper, then I cleaned up just as we were going to sit down to eat!

After supper we just sat around talking. We went on Facebook a bit and didn't do much. Then we decided to play Boggle. It was fun! We played that until around 10:15 we heard some sounds and the front door opened and my family walked in!! They made it!! My hubby was exhausted! He had to go to bed early last night in order to wake up at 3:00am for work. He worked until 1:00ish, then went home and they left. He then drove all the way here on that little sleep and after having to work!! It was nice to see the family! They were all pretty happy to see me. I feel very loved by them❤️ By the time that they brought all the stuff inside and we got the beds ready etc., it was bedtime! After getting ready for bed, I read and sang to my son, then I got into bed to write this post. Nice daily play by play…I don't know if this is actually interesting for anyone to read. All I seem to do is write down what I did…sometimes step by step. Im sorry if it's a bit bla bla ba. Anyway, I'm beginning to fall asleep, so I should get to bed!! I have to get up for my art class. Night All! 💤😴

Watercolour Day 1!!

I had my first watercolour class this morning. The instructor remembered me from the time I took her class before. That felt good. I wasn't sure if she would remember me or not and I'm glad that she did. I enjoyed myself. She showed us a few different techniques, like wet paint on wet paper, wet paint on dry paper, dry painting, scraping, using salt and mixing greens and darks. When she demonstrates the different techniques to try, she makes it look really simple. Then when you try it, it never looks like hers do. Well, mine don't. Especially when you add details…I pray for a happy accident! She says that there's no such thing as mistakes or wrecking it, but I certainly feel like I wrecked a few!! There seems to be some pretty talented people in the group. It's a little intimidating, but I try not to freak out, because it will make me screw up even more. We were working on small pieces of paper, about the size of playing cards. That also helps with the intimidation factor, is much less overwhelming when you're working, fairly quickly, on small pieces of paper. She showed us where the was hiding the key to the art barn. So, we can go whenever we want to, in order to paint/practice whenever you want.

Right after my class, I popped into the IDA drug store and picked up a beautiful travel mug (since I forgot mine at home), toothpaste, nail polish and a top coat, as well as cuticle pushers and I bought a mask for when the girls get here, we can all do face masks together one afternoon. My aunt brought a few that we can use too. I think that's all I picked up…I'm excited about using the travel mug tomorrow during my class.

We had sandwiches as soon as I got back to mom and dad's. We each made our own, then grabbed a drink, I had a Strong Bow cider. We went and sat on the deck to eat our lunch. It was still super smokey all day. After lunch, Marilyn and LT went to the grocery store and I almost fell asleep on the couch. Dad wanted to go out in the boat. I was just so sleepy. I literally couldn't keep my eyes open…which is beginning to happen right now!! Arg,.. So I ended up staying back at the house. My kiddos FaceTimed me just as I was falling asleep. So I had a short visit with them, then had a nap. The nap helped the headache that I had.

After my nap, they got back from boating and we made supper. As we made supper and waited for the chicken to be finished on the BBQ, we sat on the upper deck. We had an excellent supper, it hit the spot. They have fresh bc cherries. After supper, we watched the movie Last Vegas. It was good! There were some funny parts and it was definitely entertaining! Then it was time to get ready for bed!! Which couldn't come at a better time, because I'm falling asleep!! Night All! 💤😴

First Day!!

We had a nice lazy morning today. I stayed in bed until 9:30. Then I got up and had my coffees and breakfast. Mom went to church and the rest of us visited for a bit. It was nice and relaxing. Around 11:30 my oldest daughter and my son FaceTimed me and I had a little visit with them for about a half an hour. It was nice to see their little faces and hear from them. It's so quiet here – it's nice, don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not complaining, it's just different! I'm not used to it!!

I didn't get out of my pj's until after lunch. We had a tasty lunch of nachos with cheese and refried beans etc. It definitely hit the spot! We decided to go to an art show that my dad had some of his wood work for sale in, at around 2:00. The show/sale was filled with beautiful work! It had everything from fabric arts to watercolour to bead work to glass arts and probably anything else you could think of. I really liked a scarf that was for sale and a poncho, but they were awfully expensive!! My dad started talking to one of the artists and asked her if there's anywhere in SalmonArm where I could buy the watercolour paper that I need for the course that starts tomorrow. They sent out a revised list the other day, asking you to buy/bring your own paper (one full sheet (22 x 30") of 140 lb cold press artist quality watercolour paper.  Huh…why I'm the world is that highlighted??? And why is my font so tiny? Weird stuff…).

Anyway, (now it's big again – strange!) the lady told us where to go in SalmonArm, but she also said that she thought that she had a sheet of it at her house! So she gave me her number to text her and said to text to remind her and she'd check. I ended up texting her right when we were going to have supper. She did have a sheet of it. So, because I had to go to the orientation this evening, my dad went to her house and bought it from her. Very very nice of her!! She didn't have to go out of her way to be so nice and helpful, but she was. Isn't it nice to know that there are still good people out there!?

I didn't end up buying anything at the art show. Even though there were so many beautiful things! After we got back to the house, mom and I decided to paint our nails (my fingers, her toes…). Dad went for a walk and Marilyn and LT clipped their dog. After painting my nails, I had a little snooze in the reclining lawn chair thingy, while my nails dried! It was nice and peaceful. Then we had BBQ'd lamb that was tasty, with roasted veggies: zucchini, beets, sweet potatoes and regular potatoes! It was a great supper. Thanks momma and Marilyn and dad and all the helpers!! I was being a lazy bum in the chair and supper was made!! That would be a very rare occurrence at home!!

After supper, mom and I drove to Sorrento Centre for the orientation, she decided to join me. There was basic housekeeping information, and they introduced all of the workshop presenters. Karen talked very briefly. She didn't mention the paper, so I guess that I just show up and hope that I have all of the right stuff. I'm starting to fall asleep while I write and I have to be awake earlyish in the morning for the first day of my course! So, I'm going to hit the bed now. I'm super tired and heading to bed now!!

Night All! 💤😴

Blind Bay

Here I am in Blind Bay at my mom and dad's house in BC on the Shuswap!! I made it. Almost 24 hours later than I was supposed to arrive!!! Pretty crazy 😝 The train was neat. Despite being so behind schedule. That was, or rather, is the only complaint that I have. I enjoyed myself! I fell asleep easily last night after writing my post. I was surprised! I was worried that I was going to be super uncomfortable and that I wouldn't be able to sleep. But that wasn't the case at all. I woke up briefly around 5am, then went back to sleep until 9:00!! I was super surprised. I woke up because we arrived in Jasper and they wanted everyone off the train so that they could clean it. We had one hour in Jasper. I went with another lady, who also got on in Edmonton, to a bakery In Jasper, but was heading to meet her family in Valemont. I think it was called the Bear Claw Bakery. I got a raspberry scone and a cup of coffee. I also bought a sandwich, because it looked scrumptious and I wasn't sure what they'd have on the train. Then we walked back to the station. We sat with a couple who had traveled from Toronto to Jasper, spent a few days in Jasper, then were boarding again and heading to Vancouver, until it was time to board again. When I got back on I was feeling sleepy. I laid back in my seat and sort of drifted in and out of sleep. I spent the day on the train. Sleeping, reading, doing word searches, playing on my phone, checking out the dining car and observation deck. It was a cool experience. I definitely do not regret deciding to take the train To Kamloops. It turned out I didn't even need the sandwich that I bought. There were free sandwiches and wraps at lunch and free supper as well. You got to choose your supper, between a burger, chicken, salmon and I think something else. I decided to have the burger. It was okay! Not the best I've ever had, but not the worst either!!

I finally arrived in Kamloops at about 8:30pm. My dad was there waiting for me! It was so good to see him. Wow! Is Kamloops ever smokey from all of the wild-fires that are currently going on in BC. You couldn't even see the mountains or the moon , hardly at all. It was crazy. It was all you could smell or breath in. It's definitely better at my parent's house, but it certainly isn't gone. Very very hazy. My aunt and her wife LT got here before me, I think they arrived on Tuesday. They're staying until Saturday I think. Saturday is my mom and dad's 50th anniversary. Because Marilyn and LT have to leave on the Saturday, my parents are celebrating their anniversary on the Friday! I'm glad that I'm going to get so much time with my aunt and her wife. We rarely see each other and it will be nice to have some real time to visit, both without my kiddos and with them, once they arrive! I'm so exhausted right now although I did sleep on the train. Traveling is tiring. I think I'm going to slow down on this post and get myself into bed. I'm having a difficult time staying awake. Which is a good thing, I'll sleep better this way. I never sleep as well when I'm not in my own bed. I'm just a boring old home-body most of the time!! But not tonight and I need to sleep! I'll probably wake up early tomorrow too, so I am going to go now, until tomorrow!. Night All! 💤😴.

Choo Choo!!

Here I am, on the train!! It's 1:40 am. We haven't even left the station yet!! The rate this is going, I'll arrive in Kamloops by supper time tomorrow! There is like zero security to ride on one of these things. Strange! I think it's weird to me because my hubby and now my daughter both work for security at the airport, so I hear about it a lot!! Oh!! We're moving!! It's 1:45 and I'm outta here! I'm starving, so I'm munching on the only snack that I brought…Twizzlers!! Mmmm…

The seat is pretty comfortable – so far! I have two to myself. There's WAY more space than on an airplane. They can learn back and there's sort of recliner thingies that you can gold out for your legs you can make it go out flat or on a downwards angle. I tried to sleep, but couldn't fall asleep. So I figured I'd write my post. Hopefully I get more tired as I write this. It happens when I'm at home, so maybe it will work on the train. I was feeling anxious all day, so I'm hoping that I just need to settle down. Hey! I just remembered, I have tic tacs too! Yay! It's like a full course meal – lol.

My little man was crying when I said goodbye. He really didn't want me to leave! It was rather heartbreaking! I know he'll be fine though. Hey! We just stopped! We're still in Edmonton, it's only 2:02am. There are a whole bunch of tracks beside me. Hmmm weird.

Today was pretty busy. I had to do all of the last minute stuff for the trip. Like, pack my bathroom bag or toiletries bag, that always takes me a while!! I cleaned out my purse and switched purses to one that I can completely zip up. That way if I fall asleep, I don't have a wide open purse in front of me. The purse that I was using had a broken zipper – that's how I got the coach purse for such a great price!! Oh! We're moving again. It's 2:30 and we're finally moving! Let's hope it's for a while!! I'm starting to feel tired and it is probably important that I sleep right away. I'm sitting across from a mom with three young kids. They're all sound asleep, but who knows what they're like awake!! Also, I'm actually starting to feel tired!!? The other reason is…I have to use data for this. There's supposed to be free wifi, but I can't get it!! So, wirh that explanation I think I'm going to try to sleep again!! Night All! 💤😴

Train Tomorrow

My oldest and I got pedicures today

I now have pretty toes

It was so nice and relaxing

I bet from now on she always goes

It was her first pedicure

She was nervous about her ticklish feet

But she really enjoyed it a lot

She's the happiest girl you'll meet

My train is now delayed by over 16 hours

That's an understatement of late

Perhaps I'll arrive sometime Saturday

Hopefully that'll be the date

I went from leaving at 7:30 in the morning

To 11:30 at night

That's so late is crazy

That's just not right

I'm lucky my orientation isn't until Sunday

It's after supper that day

Thank goodness I choose the Friday train

I guess I'll get there someday

I hope the seats are comfortable

I hope I'm able to sleep on it

I'll be going through the night

And without sleep, I'll feel like shit

I'll be paranoid about my purse

When or if I'm sleeping all by myself

I'll have to hold it on my lap

No way I'm setting it on some shelf

Hopefully I'm by someone nice

Or maybe by an empty seat

Then I'll have a place by me

Where I can rest my feet

I don't even know

What these seats are like at all

I hope they are nice

Like a captains chair to fall (asleep)

I guess I'll see tomorrow

I'll be sure to get some shots

My friend already asked me to take photos

She's curious what it's like – lots

I now have the whole day to get ready

I have a few things to do

Like paint my nails, clean my purse

And have a shower too

Also, Dr Hauptman didn't get back to me

He works Tuesdays and Fridays too

I called Tuesday and they said

"He'll get back to you"

Well, he didn't, so I'll try again

I can be persistent you see

Then I can have a new stop sweating med

That hopefully works for me

Well, all I can think about is tomorrow's Night time train ride

Curiosity is zipping through my mind

It's dominating everything, it won't hide

I'll probably be writing this

Sitting on a train

Wow, that's super hard

To wrap around my brain

I guess I should get a good sleep tonight

Because tomorrow's sleep may suck

So I'm going to go to bed right now

For tomorrow, wish me luck!!

JKC

Packing Day

Today was very busy

We had so much to do

Packing, cleaning

And more laundry too

I woke early this morning

And couldn't fall back to sleep

So I went through photos on my phone

Deciding what to trash or keep

I also cleaned up my email

It was such a mess

There were so many old ones

No there's much less

I also deleted a bunch of old texts

Why do I keep those

I really don't know

"Just in case", I suppose

I have to get ready to leave for BC

Yes I do

I'm running out of time

And tomorrow's busy too

My daughter imported my camera roll

On my phone

Onto the computer today

All alone

I can now delete a bunch of photos

That on my phone I no longer need

To free up even more space

It's a process that doesn't take speed!

I packed all of my clothes

My shoes and my cap

My shower stuff

My meds -All with no nap

I have my books and a good magazine

I have my travel blanket and pillow

Now that I may travel at night

And be unable to see the willows

The train is currently delayed

Right now it's 12 hours late

I'm now traveling through the dark

Right through the night to a different date

I'm feeling a little nervous

About this long train ride by myself

But I know a short break from the kids

Is quite good for your health

I think I over packed

Like I usually do

But I weighed my suitcase

And it's under 50lbs too!

I'm excited for Friday

Yet nervous too

I don't know which is worse
