Blind Bay

Here I am in Blind Bay at my mom and dad's house in BC on the Shuswap!! I made it. Almost 24 hours later than I was supposed to arrive!!! Pretty crazy 😝 The train was neat. Despite being so behind schedule. That was, or rather, is the only complaint that I have. I enjoyed myself! I fell asleep easily last night after writing my post. I was surprised! I was worried that I was going to be super uncomfortable and that I wouldn't be able to sleep. But that wasn't the case at all. I woke up briefly around 5am, then went back to sleep until 9:00!! I was super surprised. I woke up because we arrived in Jasper and they wanted everyone off the train so that they could clean it. We had one hour in Jasper. I went with another lady, who also got on in Edmonton, to a bakery In Jasper, but was heading to meet her family in Valemont. I think it was called the Bear Claw Bakery. I got a raspberry scone and a cup of coffee. I also bought a sandwich, because it looked scrumptious and I wasn't sure what they'd have on the train. Then we walked back to the station. We sat with a couple who had traveled from Toronto to Jasper, spent a few days in Jasper, then were boarding again and heading to Vancouver, until it was time to board again. When I got back on I was feeling sleepy. I laid back in my seat and sort of drifted in and out of sleep. I spent the day on the train. Sleeping, reading, doing word searches, playing on my phone, checking out the dining car and observation deck. It was a cool experience. I definitely do not regret deciding to take the train To Kamloops. It turned out I didn't even need the sandwich that I bought. There were free sandwiches and wraps at lunch and free supper as well. You got to choose your supper, between a burger, chicken, salmon and I think something else. I decided to have the burger. It was okay! Not the best I've ever had, but not the worst either!!

I finally arrived in Kamloops at about 8:30pm. My dad was there waiting for me! It was so good to see him. Wow! Is Kamloops ever smokey from all of the wild-fires that are currently going on in BC. You couldn't even see the mountains or the moon , hardly at all. It was crazy. It was all you could smell or breath in. It's definitely better at my parent's house, but it certainly isn't gone. Very very hazy. My aunt and her wife LT got here before me, I think they arrived on Tuesday. They're staying until Saturday I think. Saturday is my mom and dad's 50th anniversary. Because Marilyn and LT have to leave on the Saturday, my parents are celebrating their anniversary on the Friday! I'm glad that I'm going to get so much time with my aunt and her wife. We rarely see each other and it will be nice to have some real time to visit, both without my kiddos and with them, once they arrive! I'm so exhausted right now although I did sleep on the train. Traveling is tiring. I think I'm going to slow down on this post and get myself into bed. I'm having a difficult time staying awake. Which is a good thing, I'll sleep better this way. I never sleep as well when I'm not in my own bed. I'm just a boring old home-body most of the time!! But not tonight and I need to sleep! I'll probably wake up early tomorrow too, so I am going to go now, until tomorrow!. Night All! 💤😴.
