Gastroscopy

This morning my daughter came into my room in a panic just as I was waking up. She said that she needed me right away. I went to her bedroom. Her glasses were broken!! She had just been taking them off and folding them to set them down and put on her mascara when they broke where the nose piece attaches to the eye piece. She could not find her old glasses anywhere! She ended up staying home from school to look for them. I got my son off to school. I couldn’t call the Vision Gallery right away about my daughter’s glasses, because they didn’t even open until 12:00 today. I went back to bed, but just laid there for about an hour. So I decided to have a long shower before my hubby drove me to the Royal Alex for my Gastroscopy. We left at about 11:30. I called the Vision Gallery from the car at 12:00 and talked to them about my daughter’s glasses. They said that they would only be fixed if they broke in a place where it looked like a manufactures defect, even though they aren’t even 1 year old yet!! My oldest daughter drove my younger daughter to school, because even though she can’t see, she has a Bio test tomorrow and they were reviewing today and she didn’t want to miss it. So my oldest daughter took the glasses in. They said that as a one time kindness they will fix the glasses. The problem is that they don’t have the part and won’t have it until mid March!! So, since we can’t find her old glasses, they are going to pop her lenses into a “loaner” pair of glasses that she can use until hers are fixed in March!! She is damn lucky!! We are damn lucky, because we certainly can’t afford a new pair right now! When my hubby and I got to the hospital, after parking we went to the basement check-in room. They gave me some papers to go through and sign. They called me in so quickly that I hadn’t finished filling in the forms yet. I changed into the gown, filled in the forms, went to the bathroom and then they pretty much started the iv and took me in to have the procedure done. It was all fairly quick without much sitting around at all! Completely unexpected! I brought a book, thinking that I would be waiting around quite a bit, but I certainly wasn’t. They sprayed a numbing spray onto my throat so that I wouldn’t gag when they put the tube down my throat, but it was basically unnecessary, because I fell asleep as soon as they told me to lie on my side and count to two while taking a couple deep breaths as they sedated me. The dr wrote me a couple notes, saying that it looked good. He took a couple biopsies and that he wants to see me in 2-4 weeks. I was able to tell him that I still have the nausea and that I’ve had a lot of diarrhea as well and that I am still losing weight. When I was in recovery they called my dad and said that he could come and pick me up, my hubby had to go to work. After about 20 minutes or so in recovery I was able to get dressed and then I waited, but only for about 5-10 minutes for my dad. Because of the sedation, you’re not supposed to drive for 24 hours afterwards. My dad and I got me a sandwich and tea at Tim Horton’s, because I would be allowed to eat while we were on the drive home. I was still a bit sleepy and slow, but I was starving!! When I got home the kids were just leaving, my oldest daughter was driving my daughter to dance and my son was going for the drive. I was feeling super sleepy, so they all went anyway and I went upstairs and laid down. I slept almost instantly! I woke up at about 6:30, I vaguely remember my son coming in to give me a kiss when they got home. My daughter was making some Delissio pizzas for supper. I went downstairs and helped her cut the pizzas. Then we ate supper. We watched a show together. Then she left to pick up her sister from dance, since I still wasn’t supposed to be driving. My son and I played a couple games. Then I got him ready for bed. I went on my phone for a while. Then I wrote this. Now I’m going to get ready for bed. I’m still feeling extra sleepy.

Night All! 💤😴
