Despite being broke, we decided to go school supplies shopping today. We kind of had to, it’s not like you can just decide not to do it. I don’t think that would go over very well! So we went to Walmart armed with our lists, sort of. For high school, they don’t really have a list. It’s more like preference. Do you like using notebooks or do you prefer loose-leaf paper and binders, do you like a black pen or would you rather blue, etc. Very different from the specific grade two school supply list we had to purchase. We found everything at Walmart, except for the oil pastels (for grade 2???!!!) and watercolour paints. We went to Staples and found both of these there!
After Walmart, we went to Carol and Rae’s house. My hubby and I met Carol years ago. When we first were working together, running a drop-in centre for kids and youth in low income housing units. Carol’s church was one of the churches that sponsored the program. We were so young, she was “old” to us then…now they’re in their mid to late eighties. We got to know her really well and, when she learned of my hubby’s history and situation at the time, she took him under her wing. She became like a new grandmother for us. We’ve stayed in contact with her all of these years. She’s helped us out during tight times throughout the years. She’s a incredible woman and her husband is a sweetheart. He always has books for me, he gave me four more books today! Tonight they gave us farm eggs, $50 for each of the girls for their birthdays and $20 for my little man, probably so he wouldn’t feel left out. They’re the most kind, generous and giving people I’ve ever met in my life. She’s the type of person who would see a sale on socks, by 15 pairs and take them all to the Bissel Centre. (I may have spelled that wrong, is it Bissle ??? No. That wrong…). Anyway, we had a nice little visit with Carol and Rae.
From there we went for food, because we were all starving and Carol gave us enough money for supper and told us to treat ourselves. We went to the Red Robin. They had a huge range of nummy burgers. They were so good. It had avocado, jalapeño relish and a bunch of other things on it. It was such a huge burger, I truly didn’t know how to eat it at first. I ended up just stuffing it “into my face-hole” as my daughter said!! I still feel full now and it’s midnight!!
After supper, we went to Home Depot and then this is when I found the things at Staples. Then we popped into mom and dad’s, to bring in the mail, walk around, and water the plants. From there we went to tune police station (my hubby found a wallet outside of Walmart and we were going to turn it in.). The police station was so busy that my hubby is going to take it in tomorrow. Sorry person who lost your wallet. You have to wait!! We were trying to set a good example for the kids, but it sort of backfired!! Well, we didn’t take anything out of it and we’re returning it tomorrow. What we read online said not to turn it into a random person at a store, but to take it to the police station. So, tomorrow I guess… after the police station , we drove home. I had a shower. I used my “whoosh” from Lush. It’s a gelly based body wash. I really liked it!!!! Then I got ready for bed and, voila! Here we are!! Night All! 💤😴
