Saw my dr today. Guess what? I have prediabetes!! Wow! Shocker! I kind of figured that out on my own by now! But hearing her say it makes it more real. Especially when she said it’s something I’m going to predisposed to for the rest of my life!! I kept thinking about it being reversible. I can lose weight and lower my blood sugar, but I have to pay attention to it forever, because if I gain the weight back – it comes back! Also, I may have more of a problem with it when I’m older, regardless of my weight, she said. (That’s not guaranteed, but a strong possibility!!) Great! Just what we all love to hear! So I bought a book called The Blood Sugar Solution. It’s supposed to have a lot of good information in it. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. There’s also a cook book that goes with it, but they didn’t have it in stock today. So my dr is setting up a meeting for a sort of class/one on one with a dietitian/nurse, who works with people with diabetes and prediabetes. I’m not sure how long it takes until I actually get in though. I guess I just wait for the phone call. My dr thinks that my hubby needs to be tested and she believes he is equally or even more so at risk than I am. He already has high blood pressure, has a huge belly and she is concerned about him. He’s too damn stubborn to get tested. His excuse today, when I mentioned what my dr said was that he is too busy to get the tests!! What?! I said, you’re saying that you’re too busy for your health?? He just tried to laugh it off and made some wise arse remark about the insurance payout I’ll get if he dies…ha ha, gee that’s so funny! Gosh! It makes me sick to my stomach! My daughter and now my dr both assumed he’d be doing the Weight Watchers program together. But, nope! His excuse for that is that he can’t afford it!! Too many excuses, I’d say! The only good thing is that he does eat better when I eat better. I usually cook the meals, so he should be eating better since my first Weight Watchers meeting is tomorrow!! I guess we’ll see. I wish he’d do it with me…oh well. Stubborn stubborn man I’m married to!! My dr is happy about the Weight Watchers idea. She wants me to aim for 5 to 10% body weight loss to start. I’m heading to bed. Night all! 💤😴
