Sad Show…

I couldn’t fall asleep last night. I was just lying there for hours until I finally finally fell asleep! Consequently, I’m just super tired today. I have been all day! I’m probably going to keep tonight’s post short, or else I’ll start doing that stupid fall asleep thing. I’m on the verge of doing it already. The falling asleep is not quite the problem. It’s falling asleep while my finger just happens to hit the backspace and deletes half of what I’ve written, that’s the problem!  My oldest and I watched a couple episodes of one of our regular shows this morning and they were a couple very sad episodes. One of the main characters’ wife died. She was kidnapped and they were trying to find her. Wherever she was held was airtight and she ran out of oxygen. I just couldn’t really believe that she actually ended up dying. I was so sure that they were going to save her in the knick of time! But, nope! That’s not what they did. Wow!! So it’s stuck in my head now. I keep replying the scene when he’s holding her at the end and crying and begging for her life, but she’s already gone. So so sad and I can’t bloody get it out of my head!! In the show they had two kids…just sad!!

After watching the shows, we went to a lady’s house to pick up some flowers. She was getting rid of a bunch of perennials. She is planting trees where she had her flowers, around the edge of her yard. So I figured that I can’t really go wrong with free flowers. She dug them up and we put them into plastic bags, just to transport them back to our place. After we got the plants, we went to Dollarama and bought a bunch of big pots. I also bought some ingredients for a mixture that is supposed to really deter mosquitoes from hanging around your house/yard. I just need to buy some cheap beer and let a couple of them go flat overnight, then I can make it. When we got back home, we planted the flowers and arranged the pots to look nice in the front yard. Now I’ve planted tomatoes and flower seeds in pots in the back, and the perennials in the front. We get direct sunlight in the back and mostly shade in front. Some of them may need to be moved if it turns out to be too shady where we put them.

Once we finished planting, we had to pick up the kids from school. When we got home  we goofed around a bit. Then we all went out back and put together my daughter’s trampoline. I couldn’t finish it because I had my Weight Watchers Meeting tonight. I lost 1.8 this week! WooHoo! Now I’m heading for bed. I’m so tired. This took some effort from me tonight. It was hard to keep my eyes open while writing!! Now I’m off to finally sleep…Night all! 💤😴

Clean And Visit Day!

I spent my morning/early afternoon cleaning up our disaster area of a house. Well, the main floor area. It was getting really bad…we did the kitchen/dinning room, the living room and the bathroom.  How do these main areas get messy again so darn easily??  I feel like I clean up and then I turn around and it’s instantly messy again! So frustrating! I mean would it kill you to put a dish/plate/bowl/cup in the dishwasher now and again?? It just seems to be cluttered and messy looking over night in our house. Often it’s not really “dirty” it’s just that there’s too much “stuff”! So everywhere you look there seems to be a pile of something…sometimes i just want to get a shovel and a big dumpster and go to town!! Easier said than done. I need to go through things, but there never seems to be any time. And so it just sits there, in bigger and bigger piles, until my hubby loses patience and starts throwing things out.

After our cleaning, my oldest and I ran to the grocery store. We ran into my good friend Claudia, with her daughter (one of my younger daughter’s best friends). We had a brief visit in the store. It’s been too long, I really miss her. She’s probably my best friend in town here and I hardly ever see her. I really need to make a point of getting together with her!! We got supper and things for school at the store, put gas in the van, then, when we got home, my mom and dad were here! We went into the backyard. My mom and I spent a very long time trying to comb and brush out Aggy’s (our dog) matts. Her fur is super fine and right now it’s matted so so badly! I feel really bad for her. We tried really hard to get through them and to cut off the ones that we could, but now she just looks kind of fuzzy and she’s still super matted. Poor thing. I really need to take her to areal groomers. They’ll likely give me shit for allowing it to get as bad as it has. She’s probably roasting in this hot spring weather that we had all weekend!! While mom and I were trying to rescue Aggy’s fur, my dad mowed the back lawn while the girls raked and cleaned up dog shit. Fun fun! It was really really bad and needed to be done! Not a pleasant job, but one that has to get done when you have two dogs. We don’t do it often enough and then it gets bad, like it was. We’re especially bad at it over the winter. It’s probably less smelly if it’s frozen…but we tend to leave it and then have a doozy of a clean up job to do in the spring! Good thing they go out on leashes and don’t have the run of the whole yard! That way there’s just one area “the shit zone” that gets bad…not the entire yard. After attempting to fix Aggy, mom and I went inside and got supper ready. We had potatoes/carrots/onions drizzled in olive oil and wrapped in foil, bbq’d. As well, we had chicken breast, also bbq’d. I also made us a salad. It was a fairly healthy and tasty meal!! By the time we ate and had a cup of coffee, it was already 8:30. My parents left around 9:00. We probably won’t be seeing them for a couple weeks ☹️ My oldest gave my son a quick bath and then I got him into bed. And now I think I hear him, so I’m going to run. Night all! 💤😴

Dress Shopping!!

Today was a full, busy day. I started off being woken up by a phone call from my hubby. I needed to go pick my daughter up from her sleepover by 10:00. So I woke up my son and we drove to the city to get her.  We then drove back home and had only 30 minutes before we had to leave (back to the city – poor planning on my part!) and drive my son to my mom and dad’s house. They watched him for a couple hours, until my hubby got off work and was able to go pick him up. My daughter and I went from my mom and dad’s to Southgate.  There we met up with two of her best friends, as well as their moms (there’s usually a group of 4 of them who are always together. It was just the three of them, because the one girl is away with her dad for the kiiioing weekend. She’s going to be disappointed that she missed the dresses and the shopping!!). We spent the next few hours trying to find the girls grade 9 grad dresses. We went to many stores. Each of the girls were so different, so very different styles of dresses looked good on each of them!  I don’t know if they realize that they can wear just about anything and look great!!  They’re at an age where they’re very self conscious about what they’re wearing…when they don’t really have to be. I mean as long as it’s not something completely inappropriate, they look good in anything!  Anyway, my daughter didn’t really like anything until we went to the Bay. There she tried on a strapless dress, with gold jewel/beading across the chest. It was a sheer, flowy white fabric on the bottom. It was quite pretty. She was concerned that it was too dressy. However, she liked it enough that she had me put it on hold. From there she didn’t like much until Le Chateau (which has completely changed from what I remember!). There she liked a few dresses. The ones she liked, of course, cost more. That’s just my luck!  However, the one she liked most was from there. It’s black and white and it did cost more than the bay one, but you could just tell that she was more comfortable in that dress. It’s a very pretty dress. We decided to buy it. It was the last one in her size and they wouldn’t put it on hold for me☹️. So, we choose that one. Despite the price. It’s a very nice dress, nothing needs to be pinned or fixed. It’s very pretty and it suits her. I will post a picture on the day of the grad. When my oldest was younger, they moved to the high school in grade nine, so they had a grade 8 farewell. Now my baby girl is having her grade 9 grad!! I cannot really believe that she’s going to be in the high school next year!! Crazy talk! I’m afraid of doing the whole fall asleep while writing thing that I always do. I am just really tired right now. After we bought the expensive dress, we had to say goodbye and head back into town. Our good friends were having a birthday party at the local pool where we had my son’s party a couple week ago. I was 100%sure that the part began at 4:00. However, my hubby called us at the mall to tell us that the party was starting at 3:00!!  We went there as fast as we could, but my daughter and I were an hour late! Thankfully, my hubby had our son and was able to get him there by about 3:10, so he had time to play. I felt really bad for being so late. We had fun and a nice visit, despite being so late!!  While there, I told my hubby about the dress and he wasn’t too happy about the price. Both of the ones she liked cost a bit more than we wanted to spend. Her friend’s mom is pretty sure that they have a pair of white shoes that should work. Fingers crossed. By the time we got home and had supper I was done – just exhausted!!! So on that note, I’m going to head to bed to get some rest. My mom and dad are coming here tomorrow and I have to clean up the house!

Scavenger Birthday!!

I had to drive to West Edmonton Mall today. My younger daughter was going to a birthday party there. They were all meeting there and were being split into teams and sent on a scavenger hunt throughout the mall. I think that they have to use their phones to take pictures of things to prove that they found them. I Hopefully one day I’ll get it right, or at least have fun, while about it I write!!” She had fun, it sounded like fun to me. My daughter is sleeping over at their house tonight, so I haven’t had the chance to ask her how it went yet. My older daughter, my son and I stayed at the mall for a while after. We had to buy a gift for tomorrow, we’re going to a friend’s son’s birthday party at the pool tomorrow. He’s turning 5 and we needed a gift. We found him two Star Wars books and a Lego pack. The books were a really great price, which is why I was able to afford all three things. My daughter bought a book series that we’ve both been wanting to read. Also, we checked out the puppies at the pet store – just because they’re so darned cute!! Then we got food, because we were all starving. Then my oldest ran to the Saje store (one of my favourite places!!). When we left the mall we had to pop by a Walmart on our way home, to return a game that my son received on his birthday that we already owned. He picked out a different game and we had enough to get him a Marvel chess game, so that my hubby could teach him. (I’ve never played chess!)  Following Walmart, we popped into Sobeys to buy a few steaks for supper. I also did baked potatoes and fresh veggies. It was a good meal. Mmmmm… mm I’m feeling pretty darn tired right now. I’m awfully worried about falling asleep while writing. Last night I fell asleep a LOT!! I woke up sitting up on the bed, phone in hand. I remembered nothing, especially what I may or may not have written! I really gotta hurry up. I just slept a bit! I hope that yesterday’s post wasn’t too difficult to follow. I felt like it was pretty disorganized, but it was so late when I woke back up and saw how I’d messed it up. So, I hope that it was okay. I’m going to stop now, because I keep sleeping and it’s getting late. Night all! 💤😴

Pedicure Day!!

The kids didn’t have school today. Monday is also off, as it’s May long weekend. I guess they decided to give them an extra day off. Interesting. I don’t think we had as many days off when I was a kid. Now it feels like every second weekend is a long weekend for one reason or another. That must be super difficult for families where both parents work. I mean I guess you get a lot of advance notice, but it’s still quite a lot of time to have to book off.
Mom and I went for pedicures today. She took me for my birthday gift. We went to a small spa on Whyte Avenue. It was nice. I can’t do nearly as good a job to myself! I got a really pretty royal blue colour. It was a pretty nice place. I think it was called Healing Waters Spa, or something along those lines. The lady doing my feet was pretty quiet, the one doing my mom’s talked more. She liked my Mrs Potts tattoo! It wasn’t the fanciest place ever, but it wasn’t one of those places where they line you up and do a whole bunch of people in the same room where you feel like just another nameless person and you can barely understand the person doing your feet and they practically ignore you anyway. It was a little room with an alcove that had a sort of stone bench thing with cushions and pillows that you climb up onto. There was only a spot for my mom and I, no one else. It probably wasn’t the best for my mom’s back, but it was relaxing and Mom and I visited and I had a cup of raspberry-green tea. It felt like getting pampered, which is a nice and rare feeling, so that’s good!

Afterwards, we went to a shoe store on Whyte that had some very nice sandals! I really wanted a pair, they were adjustable and looked like they actually might fit me,(I have very wide and thick feet and have a difficult time finding shoes that fit me!)but they were all very expensive brands. (For as long as I can remember, I’ve had to buy expensive brands of shoes, because they’re the only ones that will fit me!) Mom found a pair of shoes that she has been looking for for a long time. She uses them for gardening and they protect her feet, but they’re still sandals. They had the type of soles that she’s been looking for, because almost all of the other ones had rubber-type soles and these ones were more of a suede type of material. Much nicer. I guess she’s been looking for a new pair for a while now, over a year!

After the shoe store, we went to my parent’s house. My dad was able to get the back of my watch off ( I received my new watch band and then the battery was dead. However, I couldn’t get the back off of it to find out what kind of battery it needed.). He even had the type of battery that I needed! So I now have a working watch! Yay!!! Oh oh!! Two things…I’m starting to fall asleep as I write and my son just woke up. I’m super tired now. Before I went home we ran to Chatters and picked up nail polish that matches our pedicures. They had an excellent sale going n where you could get 2 bottles of OPI nail polish for only $10!! Great price right?! Well, I just sat here sleeping for over an hour!! I really need to get to bed. I am soooooo sleepy!! Night all! 💤😴

Lazy Bazy…

Had a pretty lazy day today. I feel like I didn’t really accomplish much. I watched some Modern Family with my sick daughter. Her stomach was in so much pain she was close to tears. You know she’s not feeling well when she misses dance two night guys in a row! I had to pick up my oldest daughter from work today, because my hubby and her drive into work together and she was off and he had to keep working. He’s super busy right now because the GM (general manager) for the Edmonton airport quit and it left them with a bit of a mess. He has been running a bunch of smaller airports and travels all the time, but the director of his company called him today and wants him to help get Edmonton back on their feet!  He’s really good at his job and they need someone to get things back into working order. It’s kind of falling apart and chaotic. His old boss is traveling here next week, and together they’re going to try to get Edmonton back on their feet!! So, the good news is that he won’t be traveling for a while, the bad news is that he’s going to be super busy! He’s still responsible for his other airports and he’s going to be doing a lot of extra work in Edmonton!! So, for the time being, our daughter has her dad for a boss. Yikes! Knowing him, he’ll probably be hard on her!! Hopefully she’s up for the challenge…she can’t argue with him like she does at home!  Those two have the same personality, so they have been known to butt heads. They either really get along or they really don’t. Well, life will be interesting! For the most part, he won’t be at the gate, he’ll probably be in the office, so they won’t be together all the time.

My arm feels a bit like it’s on fire right now. I think the shirt I’m wearing is rubbing on my new tattoo and it’s pretty raw still. I’m hot anyway, so I may take my big shirt off and just wear a tank top instead. It’s already 12:30!!  My son and I were playing Blek (a puzzle type game) on the iPad and we totally lost track of time. We realized that it was 11:00 – which is really late for him (there is no school tomorrow!!). By the time I got him ready and into bed and then myself, it got late!! I’m feeling tired too, but I haven’t done my fall asleep and delete half my post trick yet…thank goodness!! I just hate it when I do that! It makes me crazy. Also, it bothers me that this program doesn’t automatically save as I go along. I’ve started to try to come up with ways to save it on my tired days. So far, the fastest thing I’ve done is just selecting all and copying whatever I have written down occasionally. That way if I somehow delete stuff, I can just paste it back in!! It’s a pain though. The stupid thing should save!! I should probably wrap this up for the night soon…before I actually do start falling asleep!  I’m also drawing a blank right now about what else I should write about tonight. I really have no ideas!!  I usually write about my day, but I did not really do much today, so there isn’t much to discuss. So, without further ado, I’m going to stop for the night! Night all! 💤😴

Tattoo Day!!

My younger daughter has been missing too much school recently…she missed Monday because she was exhausted from a weekend of dance. However, she missed today because she wasn’t feeling well at all. At first we thought she had one of her migraines, but, in addition to her pounding headache, she looks super pale, her whole body is aching and she just feels crappy! I just hated having to call in again for her. I’m afraid she’ll get too behind. However, so far she’s been doing well at keeping on top of things and catching up if the need be, hopefully that doesn’t change.

Today my oldest daughter and I are getting our mother/daughter tattoos. I’m getting Mrs. Potts and she’s getting Chip. If you put our arms together it will look like Mrs Potts is pouring tea into Chip. We are using the watercolour technique for the tea. It’s really cute and it suits us. We both live almost anything Disney and they felt like the perfect mother/child representation. I’m sitting here waiting while they finish Chip and then it’ll be my turn for Mrs Potts. Oh! They’re done. I’ll add a photo later of the final look. Gotta run!

Wow! Does the watercolour part ever hurt! Y’Ouch!! When she’s colouring it in it just burns. Wowza! The rest, the Mrs Potts drawing wasn’t so bad. You can feel a strong vibration and it feels like someone is using an epilator on you. I call mine my hair-puller-outer! That’s the best comparison I can come up with to what it feels like when getting a tattoo. It didn’t take very long and she changed us very reasonably. The total for both was only $210, many people pay far more than that. I know that the big one on my arm was over $400 and that was at least 4 years ago. I was cold, so I put a long sleeved shirt on and I can feel it rubbing on my arm where it’s extremely tender right now. Again I say y’ouch!!  Okay. Here’s a photo that my daughter took:

What do you think? Pretty cute eh?? I’m going to run. Until tomorrow, Night all! 💤😴

Hope

Waiting for the rain to fall

And wash away my tears

Praying for you to come back

And take away my fears

Wishing you were by my side

Right where you belong

Aching at the empty space

Now that you have gone

Yearning just to hear your voice

To lift my heavy heart

Knowing that you’ve gone away

Is tearing me apart

Hoping you will come back home

Is all that keeps me going

Believing that you love me still

The hope is what I’m showing

JKC

(This is not about me or my life!! It’s just words!)

Mmmmm…Angel Food Cake!!

This morning I went with my oldest daughter to the dermatologist appointment that had been booked for her by her dr ages ago. She suddenly had all sorts of red marks appearing down the backs of her legs and inner thighs and a bit on the front. I thought that they almost looked like stretch marks, but that made no sense…at her age, for no apparent reason. The dr in town didn’t think that they were stretch marks, they weren’t really sure what they were, so they made the referral to the specialist. Anyway, the dr said that they were, indeed, stretch marks! He thought that they may have resulted in her taking a specific medication, but that wasn’t the case. He said she grew faster, too much growth – too quickly, than her skin was ready for and it stretched the skin. So strange. She’s only 19 and stoop growing years ago! She told me that she has gained a bit of weight since she graduated, but enough for a bunch of stretch marks to appear… I guess. Obviously they did, but it is so bizarre! They can’t really do much for her. There’s a cream that she could’ve bought that is available through them for $80. The cream is to improve elasticity to prevent more. He said we could use Bio Oil, which you can buy somewhere like Shoppers Deug Mart. I Hope that it’s cheaper than his cream. Her other optionis laser treatments. They said that it won’t get rid of them completely, they’ll lose the red pigment and just be sort of skin colour, silvery whiteish. It costs $200 per treatment. She has to call her insurance company to see if it’s covered at all. If not,  I’m not sure if she’ll do it.

After her appointment, we got some food and went to the tattoo place to book an appointment for mother daughter tattoos that we want. We are getting the Disney characters Mrs Potts and Chip, from Beauty and the Beast. I’ll have Mrs Potts pouring watercolour tea into Chip, who will be on my daughter. If we put our arms together, you can really see how the scene goes together!!  Our appointment is on Wednesday.

From there we went to Indigo Chapters. She bought herself a bunch of books 📚. She bought two blankets that were a reasonable price , with purchase. One for her and one for me…yay!!!!

Afterwards we came home. We watched a bit of TV, then we wè got my son from school. After school, we went to my mom and dad’s house. There we played a couple games and had supper and Birthday cake for me. Yay! My mom made angel food cake…mmmmm!!!

I’m falling asleep as I write, so I’m going to go to bed! Night all! 💤😴

Happy Birthday To Me

It’s 10:09 and it feels like it should be 1:00am or something. Gosh these dance days are exhausting!! My daughter only had two dances today, but they were pretty spread out. So we ended up spending the entire day there. She did awesome today. Both lyrical and production received gold. They always do really well on the production. The kids think of it as a guaranteed gold or whatever the highest happens to be at the particular competition. That’s probably not the best attitude to have, but production is just so good and they work so hard that it usually ends up being pretty great. I’m not just saying that as a mom. In my vast competition experience (note the sarcasm!!) judges tend to love productions!  These ones were no exception! So, I spent my birthday hanging out watching dance with my mom and dad. I’m sure there are worse things I could’ve been doing that’s for sure. It’s also Morher’s day today. I was born on Mother’s Day…45 years ago! Wow! That sounds a lot older than I feel! Man am I ever tired. My eye hurts. It’s been bothering me all day today. I don’t know what’s wrong with it! I thought it was because the theatre was really dry, but it’s still bothering me and we’re not there anymore! Weird… My hubby had fajitas ready for a late supper, when my daughter and I got home. Afterwards we didn’t really do much. My son needed a bath and then we had to get him to bed, because he has school tomorrow. My daughter was exhausted too. She could barely keep her eyes open in the car on the way home and almost fell asleep right after supper. She flopped out on her bed and forced herself to empty the dishwasher, then fell back into bed. I think she has first period gym tomorrow, so I may just let her sleep in and go to school a bit late!! Speaking of late, my son just woke up and it’s too late for him to be up. I’m going to go get him back to bed. Night all! 💤😴
