Our Caregivers

They mean well,

They do, it’s true!

But they don’t really get it,

Even when they think they do.

They touch you tenderly,

With compassion on their minds.

But it makes you flinch,

While they’re trying to be kind.

They do so much for you,

That it fills you with guilt!

But you just want to hide,

And cuddle up in your quilt!

You try to appreciate,

All of the kind intentions,

But inside the frustration builds,

And fills you with tension!

It’s just another thing,

You feel guilty about!

There are so many reasons,

You wish you could just shout!

You try to hold back the tears,

Until you’re on your own.

Crying in front of them,

Makes them feel futile and alone.

They love you so much,

They want to do all they can!

They want to fix things,

Especially if your caregivers a man.

Men tend to want,

To physically fix it,

But this isn’t about,

Pieces that don’t fit!

Just take care of the kids,

The dogs and the rest!

I’m so grateful for all you do

You’re just the best!!

Thanks for your love,

Your patience, your thoughts!

If I had to do this alone,

I’d become a crackpot!!

Time

Time blows by.

Forever running the race.

Leaves me in the dust,

With my hand upon my face.

Time drags forward,

Inch by agonizing inch.

Wishing this day would end.

Every movement makes me flinch!

Time ticks along.

Moving to its own beat.

I’m waiting for this pain to end.

Ready to hit control, alt, delete!

Time landed at bedtime,

Where I was waiting for hours today!

Hoping to end today’s pain,

By sleeping it away!

Time has practically stopped.

The night drags longer than before!

Sleep and pain begin their battle,

But I don’t want another war!

Who Is She

Some days she flies!

Small as a fairy.

She flits all over,

She’s so busy, very!

Some days she shrinks,

Low and flat like inchworms.

She slumps along,

Her lowered head confirms.

Some days she soars!

High as an eagle.

So full of pride,

She appears regal!

Some days she roars!

Mad as a lion.

People stay clear,

Or they’ll be crying!

Some days she sings!

Clear as a bell.

Full of joy and at peace.

This is when she’s well.

Most days we’re guessing,

Who will she be?

It’s up in the air.

We wait and see…

We’re Different

Lightening strikes unexpected.

Electrifying my face!

Must react and do something,

Before I’m a blubbering nutcase!

What works for her

And what works for him

Probably won’t work for me

The chances are slim

Everyone is so different

Unique individuals though

Not lumped into one category,

“They’re the same from head to toe”

Yes, we have the same illness

But we all have different pain

Different coping skills

Different ways to deal with the strain

Different things that get us through

From mantras to crafting to writing

From sobbing to gaming to laughing

From depressed to happy and exciting

To a whole wack of other beautiful

And incredibly courageous things

that get us through…

The pain that TN Brings

The Hidden Truth

Plunging into a land unknown,

Where her alter-ego slept.

Waking the monster was a mistake.

She didn’t know what it kept!

Memories of the poignant times,

Filled with pain and regret.

Suppressed for very good reason.

Sealed with a wish to forget!

Tumbling out from her vault,

Came all the detritus long lost.

Throwing her into chaos and pain,

She hadn’t realized the cost!

Wading through the images,

As they assaulted her brain.

Making her gasp for her breath,

She was stunned by the pain!

Scrambling to forget again,

Trying desperately to clear her mind.

She’d rather keep it all hidden away,

Than face it and leave it behind!

Stuck back in her phoney existence,

Pretending all is well.

Denying the truth behind her eyes,

A truth she can barely quell…

Are You Hiding Today??

Are you hiding today?

Or are you free?

Can you come in the open?

Am I able to see?

Are you hiding today?

Or are you in a trance?

One too many meds,

Inside you, per chance?

Are you hiding today?

Or are you in the dark?

Squeezing your eyes shut,

Your expression so stark?

Are you hiding today?

Or are you playing dead?

Under eye circles,

The darkest of red.

Are you hiding today?

Or are you sleeping at last?

Hopefully the pain,

Won’t break through too fast.

A Boring Post

It’s so so late,

I almost forgot,

To write something,

So, down I’ll jot!

Gee, I sound like Yoda!

Just for the cheesy rhyme,

Time, I don’t have a lot of.

In total Yoda style this time!

I’m so tired.

This will be short

I need more sleep.

But I had stuff to sort.

Now my puffer,

Is not working right!!

I better go fix it,

Ug! What a night!!

So I’ll say goodbye.

Sorry this is so bad.

I’ll do better tomorrow!

Hope you’re not too sad😢

Flawed

Hiding behind the lie that is my face.

Did I forget to nod and smile with social grace?

Why do I fucking care what people think?

The effort to be “normal” makes my heart sink.

Don’t let them see the truth hiding within my skin.

The vibrant pain that endures within.

No cast nor rash nor marks that tell the truth.

Want to scream, cry, moan and groan, but that’s uncouth.

At least according to social acceptability it would be.

Do I still truly care what they’d say about me?

The effort to “be okay” is exhausting and disheartening.

With every phoney smile I feel my spirit slowly darkening.

Can I ever pick up the pieces and reassemble myself?

Will I always be lost and alone without my health?

I’m sick to death of this never-ending facade.

There must be something better, this way’s so flawed!

Must my silent suffering forever be?

Must I always care about who can truly see?

Give Thanks

I am thankful for my hubby.

He’s always here for me!

Without him right beside me,

I don’t know where I’d be.

I’m so grateful for my children.

They bring me joy and love!

They make me smile and laugh.

For them, I thank God above.

I’m so blessed to have my family.

Yes, we may get crazy and loud,

But, I’d be lost without them.

They make me so very proud!

Behind These Eyes

Behind these eyes

I try to erase

The criticism and scrutiny

I see on each face

Behind these eyes

I hide the truth

I smile, I nod

No need for a sleuth

Behind these eyes

I hide the pain

If it could bleed

Red tears would rain

Behind these eyes

I yearn to cry

To let it out

But they stay dry

Behind these eyes

Words cut deep

But it won’t be known

I’ll never weep

Behind these eyes

I scream and yell

Yet all is quiet

My pain hides well

Behind these eyes

I pray for relief

A day, an hour

However brief

Behind these eyes

I see you clearly

Your love and exasperation

I love you dearly

Behind these eyes…
