My son had us do a “contest” tonight. We had to write a song or rap and see whose was the “best”. So, he wrote a “rap”, which was very cute and this is my “song”. Since I haven’t written a poem on here in some time I thought that I would just share what I wrote while he and I were playing our game together.

This Storm Inside My Brain

Floating down the river

Searching for some peace

It’s slipping through my fingers

This pain will never decrease

Wishing on the stars

Hoping for my dreams

They’re falling through the cracks

Drowning with my screams

This storm inside my brain

Wipes away my senses

It leaves me breathless

With no pretences

This storm inside my brain

Soaring through the sky

Seeking some direction

It’s nowhere to be found

My heart needs some protection

Walking around the trees

Praying for a saviour

I’m stuck inside my head

With my abnormal behaviour

This storm inside my brain

It leaves me breathless
