Always Keep Fighting

When life gets you down

And it all seems too much

When you want to give up

And you’re losing touch

When you’re at your lowest low

And just existing feels wrong

When you’re not functioning at all

And think it’d be better if you were gone

If you don’t know where to turn

Or what to do

If you’re at a total loss

And think there’s no hope for you

Please don’t give up

Don’t quit the fight

Don’t throw in the towel

Even if that’s what feels right

There’s a better way

There’s help out there

There’s someone who understands

You can make them aware

You need to reach out

Asking for help is the way

Find someone to talk to

Who will hear all you say

Just pick up the phone

Call a helpline or friend

Just reach out to someone

This is not the end

It’s the beginning for you

The answer you need

There’s no shame in hurting

Don’t let your fear impede

There is help for your pain

You need not suffer alone

There are many like you

Whose voices have shone

They took that step

The first is the hard one

They got the help they needed

Their silent suffering is done

I’m not saying it’s easy

Or that you’ll be better overnight

I’m saying that there’s hope

And it’s important to fight

Depression is not shameful

It can be found everywhere

You won’t be ridiculed

And people won’t stare

Just reach out right now

I think it’s exciting

That this is when you start

To always keep fighting

I really want to edit this some more, but it’s ridiculously late and I’m tired…maybe I’ll look at it again tomorrow!

To help with research and treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia please go to http://www.tnnme.com (Trigeminal Neuralgia and Me) to sign a petition to have the World Health Organization (WHO) add Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) to their “Health topic list.” Hopefully one day I’ll get it right, or at least have fun, while about it I write!!
