Birthday Time!!

We had a busy busy day! My son’s 7th Birthday is today. He turned 7 – duh, I just said it was his 7th birthday… It’s just that I can hardly believe it. He’s growing up so fast!! We started the day with his gifts. He was excited about the bike and Lego. I think he was surprised by the bike. We discovered that his helmet is too small for him. So, we’ll have to run into the city tomorrow and buy him a new one. It’s best that he is there when we buy it anyway, just to be sure we’re buying something that fits him!  It was just a bummer that he couldn’t try riding it today! After presents the two of us played basketball together in the backyard and we also planted his grade 1 tree, right by the girls’ grade 1 trees. Then he played while I showered and got things ready for his party. We picked up the cake, our daughter ‘s friend, (who came to help supervise in the pool) and went to the town swimming pool. Once everyone arrived, the kids all got their wrist bands and the lifeguard gathered them together and talked to them about the pool rules. We had our daughters and their friend go into the pool with the kids (for every 3 children under 8 years old you need one supervisor 14 years or older). The kids had so much fun in the pool. They all went on the water slide, even 5 year old Adam. After the pool, we had the party room for one hour, enough time for munchies, cake and presents. It went by super fast. Little boys are so different than little girls. They play so differently than girls. Much more rambunctious and hyper. But still, so sweet.   They hardly had any time to play in the party room after all of that was done. My son handed out the treat buckets (we used buckets with shovels, instead of bags for the treat bags).  After everyone was picked up, my daughter had to dance, so my hubby drove her, while I tried to clean up and make my supper. My son wanted pigs in a blanket for supper, so we had those with fries. Then he opened the couple of gifts that my oldest bought for him.  She bought him a Hatchimal and he freaked out when he opened it. He’s wanted one for soooo long. He was just so so excited.  Once my younger daughter and my hubby got back from dance, we let him open the Hatchimal.   It comes in an egg. You tap and rub snd tse care of the egg. You can see the digital eyes glowing through. The eyes light up and change colour and each colour signifies something different – like it’s hungry, angry, scared, you can hear it’s heartbeat through the egg. After you care for the egg for a certain amount of time, it hatches out of the egg. It’s beak goes in And out and the head turns and it slowly breaks its way out. The little sounds it makes are pretty darn cute!  Once it breaks out, you have a little, stuffed, guy that can move around, learn things, dance, and do all sorts of things. It gets a bit older and when it learns enough it dances around to the happy Birthday song and is a year older. Pretty neat!! So so different from the presents I used to get as a kid.  He was the most excited for this toy, more than anything. I’m falling asleep again?  I hate when that happens. I really am almost asleep. I have to finish this post quickly, before I end up losing it all, because I really don’t want to have to start this all over again – so, I’m going to cut it short while my eyes are losing the battle.  We did hardly anything else after the Hatchimal anyway. We just kind of hung out. I’m so tired, jeepers! I just can’t stand it. I really need to go to bed. Night all! 💤😴
