Alone she sits
Staring out the window
Wondering if
He’ll ever come back home
Filled with hope
Not wanting to give in
Certain that
He will come back home
Time passed
Her loneliness increases
She questions herself
And if he’ll come back home
Still she sits
Not ready to give up
Trusting that
He’ll come back home
All of her friends
Tell her to move on
They’re sure that
He’ll never come back home
Still she sits
Staring down the driveway
Watching for his car
To finally come back home
She sits still
Staring in the mirror
Wondering why
He hasn’t come back home
She sits on the front porch
Thinking about him
Doubting that
He’ll ever come back home
Out with friends
She sees him with another
Their eyes meet, and she knows
He will never come back home
Alone she sits
Staring out the window
A car pulls in the driveway
A new man has come
To take her back home
He sits in her driveway
Wondering where she is
But, he took too long
To finally come back home…
