Full WEM Afternoon!!

So the kids had early dismissal today, so we decided to go to West Edmonton Mall. My oldest daughter had a bunch of things that she really needed to get. I had to go to Forever 22 to return the solo costume that we bought there, but didn’t use!! They won’t give you your money back, they’ll only give you store credit. This made my daughter happy, as it’s one of her favourite stores! We also took back the dress that we bought at Old Navy. I bought a knit tank and my daughter bought a jumper. We split up for a while, so that my daughter and I could get my son a Birthday gift. We went to the Disney store sand bought him some Spider-Man goggles (his party is at the pool in town). We also bought him Spider-Man sunglasses, a Guardian Of The Galaxy’s t-shirt, a BB8 colouring set I also bought myself a Mickey Mouse cooler bag because I spent over $40, I got a good price for it!  It’s really cute and will come in handy. After the Disney store, my daughter and I went to Lush! It is a store that has natural “handmade, cruelty-free, 100%natural products. It smells soooo amazing there!! There are tons of different, huge bath bombs, as well as shampoo and conditioner, makeup, face and body scrubs and washes, etc etc. I really like it there!! I bought quite a few things! I got my daughter’s bath bombs, my middle daughter a face wash (it’s really great! It looks like cake almost and it smells scrumptious- like you could eat it!! You break a little pea-sized piece off and add a bit of water and make a paste that you apply to your face or your body.)  I also got a face cleaner/scrub mine smells great too! It’s not to die for like my daughter’s scent, it’s more herbal smelling with almonds, lavender oil and chamomile. It’s really nice and my skin felt amazing after I used it!! I also bought a mask which smells great too!! The final thing that I bought was a bar of body butter which, of course, smelled great!!  It was a little oily when I first put it on, but it was quite nice once it absorbed! The final place that we went to was Build A Bear! My oldest bought one for all three of them.  My son picked the red Power Rangers bear, my oldest picked a beautiful white tiger and my middle daughter picked out a cute, basic bear.  After that we raced home. We were home with no time to spare my daughter changed into her  dance clothes, we drove to the city, picked up a dance friend in Summerside, who needed  a ride today and drove to dance.  I went to Wakmart while she danced to buy my son a gift from my oldest (a Hatchimal – he’s going to freak out!!) and a couple more things from my hubby and I (Lego and some clothes).  When I picked up Abby and my daughter I found out that there were only three of them in class tonight and that Amanda cancelled all of her classes and said that tonight’s classes were optional!!! I wish I had known that ahead of time – sure would have been nice to not having to rush home from WEM.! Oh well. I was able to finish shopping for my son’s birthday on Saturday!  Oh oh! I’m starting to fall asleep again! Crap. I should be getting to bed right about now!!  Night all! 💤😴.

Some More Venting

I hope that no one was offended by my venting post yesterday!! After talking it over with my mom, I decided to take it off of Facebook. I didn’t want people to get the wrong idea about anything. It was just venting about some rumours that I heard over the weekend. I didn’t want anyone to take anything I may have said personally. Writing is my way of putting things down and working through them. Had someone from the competition somehow gotten ahold of my post it could have been construed to be more than it is and I don’t want to get anyone in trouble my daughter and myself included!! Again, I apologize if I offended anyone.

I really really Hope that the other rumour that I heard, about possibly switching my daughter into a different class for next year is incorrect!! Something similar to that happened to her when she danced in town here, and she was extremely upset. It really affected her self-esteem and confidence levels and I don’t want her to go through something similar to that experience all over again. I say similar, because the biggest difference is that we love her current dance school. Everyone is so kind (except maybe some of the older girls, although that is probably just a teenage girl thing…having to act “cool” – probably not the word they’d use, but you get my drift!!) and they made my daughter feel very welcome and at home. She just loves it there!!  I’m so so glad she’s happy. Her previous dance school was awful…the word kind doesn’t exactly apply!!  I just really hope that the groups remain as they are. They dance so well together, it would be a shame to separate them and it would break my daughter’s heart and I believe she’s experienced more than enough heart ache in her young dancing experience. I guess I should speak to the teacher about it. I don’t think she knows how much it would upset my kiddo!!  Or some of the other girls. I know that one of them said she may stop dance altogether if they’re moved down!! That would be sad to see. She’s such a sweet girl and I just love her mom. That would just suck if they, well more like, if she stopped dancing!!  Well, I guess I have to stop venting about it – hopefully I didn’t offend anyone tonight!! I just kept right on venting! However, I’m no longer venting about what I heard regarding this past weekend, which is the main reason I removed yesterday’s post from Facebook!! Talking about which dance class my daughter is in shouldn’t be offensive to anyone…well except maybe to her – lol!

Oh oh! I’m doing that fall asleep while writing thing that I’m so darn good at!! I better hit the sack. I’m tired man. Shoot! I just did it agIn. Okay, I really better go!!

Done And Done!!

Another dance competition finished!! My daughter had her solo bright and really early this morning. She danced beautifully! I was so proud of her. I get so anxious while she’s dancing as well as waiting for her to go on. It’s not that I think she’s gong to do poorly or anything, I just feel nervous. She must be getting more comfortable with it, because now she is saying that she wants to do a solo again next year!! I’m not sure if we’re too late or not or if we can even afford it. Last I heard all of the spots were filling up!! She’s signed up to do a duo with her friend already. Also, her modern class has only 4 people in it this year. For next year, only my daughter and her good friend have signed up at their level. They don’t know what’s going to happen, but, if they get asked to move into the younger modern group, they’re going to do a modern duo instead. So that would mean two duos…AND now she wants to do a solo again?! Yikes! This is already expensive for us (more than hockey I’ve heard). I guess I have some figuring to do and I need to email Miss Amanda.

Speaking of moving her into the younger modern class, I was also told, by one of the other moms, that for next year my daughter and two other girls (both a year younger than my daughter) may be moved into the younger girls classes. I don’t know if it’s just a rumour or not, but if that does happen, won’t I just be paying all of this money for her to repeat classes that she’s already taken? Also, with my daughter going into high school in the fall, will she be dancing with 12 year olds??  They’re all really nice kids, but the group that she’s currently in works so well and performs so well together. Also, the older boy in our group spent the entire year learning a bunch of lifts with one of the girls I heard may also be moved down…they just got so good at them!!  I don’t know why there can’t just be two senior groups, senior 1 and senior 2. It keeps the current groups together and keeps the age range from being too spread out. If you want a big group of the older kids, do a line or something with senior 1 and senior 2 combined!! They just dance beautifully together and have formed such a cohesive group. I really hope that it’s just gossip and/or rumours!!

I also heard rumours, over the weekend, about the competition we were just at. One of the studios seemed to consistently score higher than all of the other groups… and it just “coincidentally” happened to be the dancers from the studio that hosts the competition!! I mean they won almost everything!! There were many complaints – not just from our dance school. Technically, the studio who’s hosting the competition should hire adjudicators from out of town, they generally travel to the competition from Vancouver or Toronto or even the states!!  These judges shouldn’t know the dancers in the competition AT ALL! Also, they aren’t supposed to know which dance studio that whomever they’re watching perform comes from. It’s not in the programs, just the name of the person or dance is included, and the judges don’t know who they are. However, these judges were seen socializing with some of the dancers, hugging them and talking and laughing with them, from the studio that kept winning.  I don’t know if any of this or all of it or just some of it is true, but I did see the same kids getting first, many of the awards and higher level medals, over and over. They were good, but they weren’t the only ones who performed well. (That’s just the truth – I’m not saying that because I’m a mom!!). The scoring didn’t appear to be fair to me – but what do I know. I guess the main thing is that they danced beautifully and they had fun! I just think that they were beginning to feel somewhat discouraged, and began to expect lower medals than normal. My daughter said that she’ll just pretend that the competition didn’t happen. I find it interesting that people said they saw the judges talking and hugging the dancers, as there are supposed to be strict rules regarding not being allowed to talk to or personally interact with the judges. You can’t ask them questions or complain to them, nothing. The judges are supposed to be strictly off limits!! Well, apparently these ones weren’t!!  I’m glad hardly anyone, other than my mom and dad and a few close friends, reads this. I wouldn’t want to turn into the rumour spreader myself! I just like to vent…which I tend to do with my posts if something happens that I need to think through or get off my chest!! Okay. Enough whining for one night!! Her final scores were fine and it’s over and done with. One more competition (on my Birthfay!!) to go. I’m going to hit the hay! Night all! 💤😴

Almost The End Of Our Dance Weekend

Today was our busiest day of the competition. My daughter had four dances to do in front of these difficult judges. After her first dance, I called our hotel to see if we could check in a bit early, because we had a 3 hour break before her next dance. I was feeling sleepy, because I didn’t get a good sleep last night. It took me forever to fall asleep!!  I’m not sure why. I was just lying there feeling exhausted but unable to sleep. Maybe I should have tried writing more, that always seems to make me fall asleep. Anyway, we checked into our hotel during the break. I almost fell asleep lying around waiting for time to pass. I then drove my daughter back to the theatre, because she wanted to watch a friend’s dance. I ran to shoppers then back to the hotel and had a baby nap. I set an alarm on my phone so that I wouldn’t miss my daughter dancing! Then I went back to the theatre to watch her last three dances of the day. They danced really well! She received two golds and two high silvers. They got gold in hip hop and modern and high silver in lyrical and lyrical line. They did especially well in modern, because during the middle of the dance, the music cut out completely and it was silent in the theatre. They did exactly what you’re supposed to do and kept right on dancing. They did well, because when the music came back on they just continued dancing and were at the correct place in the dance!! Talk about stressful!! I was so proud of them. Tall about nerve wracking!! The hockey game started while she was still dancing…so I wasn’t able to wat h most of it. I caught the last 15 minutes of the third period (the Oilers lost ☹️). I came back to the hotel room, while my daughter stayed to watch the final dance off with a friend. They’re driving her back to the hotel when the dance off is finished. I’m trying to get my writing finished before she gets back. Also, I don’t want to go to bed late tonight. I’m still sleepy from last night and we have to wake up really early tomorrow!!  We have to be at the theatre by 7:00am…yuck! I’m going to run now and start getting ready for bed, she’s going to be here any time now!!

Finally A 💎Diamond 💎

I’m so exhausted right now…can I stay awake while writing this?? Let’s see if I’m up for the challenge!! Today, during the day, I did house stuff, like the dishes and laundry. I also packed a bag for tomorrow night, since my daughter and I are staying at the Best Western in Fort Saskatchewan after she dances. She has four dances tomorrow, hip hop, lyrical, lyrical line and modern. It’s going to be a long day and then we have to be back Monday morning by 7:30am – with her dressed in costume, stage makeup on and ready to go! My hubby and I decided it was worth forking out the money for the hotel room, otherwise we’d be leaving Beaumont at about 6am!! I am not the best morning person…so the hotel made the most sense!  I packed my bag this afternoon because we’re leaving at 9:00am tomorrow and I didn’t want to be scrambling in the morning.

We had to leave around 4:30 this afternoon to get to Fort Saskatchewan in time for my daughter to watch one of her friend’s dances and then she had to get ready for this evening’s performance. Another mom and I snuck off to Starbucks while they were in the rehearsal hall, as parents aren’t allowed there anyway!!  Then we got back in time to visit for a bit before watching them dance. Tonight’s dance was the production. This year the production that they are doing is Hairspray. It’s excellent!! So much fun to watch! They do about five of the songs from the musical and they actually sing while they’re dancing!! It’s very very good! I may be biased, but the judges loved it too. And, as I think I mentioned the other day, these are tough judges! Very very hard judges. Despite the tough judges, they managed to get Diamond 💎!!! Yay! Yay! Yay! We were beginning to think we were never going to hear that word, especially when hearing gold and high gold is a rarity at this competition! But, we heard it!! Diamond!! There were no other productions at the competition (which is common, there aren’t many at most competitions, as they’re a lot of work to put on!!), so we also got first in the category! Regardless of the good score, it won’t make it into the dance off tomorrow evening, as productions aren’t allowed to be entered into the dance off, because they take too long. Hey look! I’m still awake…two nights in a row, it must be some kind of record!! Night all! 💤😴

2 – 1 For The Oilers!!!

The Oilers won again! Go Oilers go!! The final score was 2 – 1 for Edmonton. It was close though…they wouldn’t have won without their goalie! He definitely stole the game for them!! There were more than 40 shots on the Oilers net – double the amount on the Anaheim net. Talbot (the Oilers goalie) was on fire! He was just amazing tonight. It was a great game to watch, very exciting and edge of your seat action. Sometimes when the score is so close for so long it gets hard to watch! I find myself getting so nervous and anxious with all the close calls and chances. It’s stressful man!!  I do enjoy it and find it entertaining, it can just get so so nerve-wracking when it’s such a close game like that!

Today I was so so tired this morning. I don’t know why. I was just so sleepy. So, I watched a couple Modern Family episodes, then lied down on the couch and had a nap. I slept for about two hours, I was just out! I don’t know why I was that tired, but boy did I ever conk out! I don’t think I’ve ever slept that deeply lying on the couch!! Crazy! Afterwards, my oldest got home from work and we watched last night’s Big Brother Canada together. It never used to be a show that I watched, but my whole family got into it, a few years back, and I began watching it with them. Oh oh…I’m getting tired. It scares me because of how many times I’ve managed to accidentally delete entire posts!! It stresses me out! I spend time writing these posts and to have it completely gone is so so aggravating!!  Shoot!! This is going to have to remain short, otherwise I’ll fall asleep, which, after how many times I’ve lost posts, makes me super super paranoid!! Okay!!! It happened again, I’m going to need to stop and sleep!!! Before it’s bye bye post time!! Night all! 💤😴

Dance Jam Day 1

It’s too late

I’m too tired

I fell asleep twice

It deleted the whole thing twice

I’m ready to scream

I saved it, but it was still gone

Why why why

I’m feeling beyond tired

It’s day at Dance Jam

Man the judges are hard

Everywhere is different

All you hear is silver and high silver

My daughter had two dances

Ballet and jazz

Ballet she got first, gold and choreographers award

Jazz she got first and gold

I’ve barely heard top scores

Except once at the end

Ironically it was for the group running the show

Apparently the judges don’t know them

It’s supposed to be fair

They were good

It just felt a little coincidental

Oh well, she did well and had fun

I won’t waste my energy on other things

I’m extra proud, because of how hard they were being judged

I’m going to bed

This is point form so it’s quick and I can hit the hay

She has no dances tomorrow

So we get a bit of a break

We’re back on Saturday

Oh shit, I’m falling asleep again

I should go before I start deleting things again!!!

Night all! 💤😴

Countdown Until Dance Time

Tonight’s the start of round two in the playoffs for the Edmonton Oilers. They’re playing the Anaheim Ducks. I just checked and so far we’re losing. However, it’s only early in the second period, there’s still a lot of tims left and it’s only 1-0 for the Ducks. So, cross your fingers Oilers fans!! My hubby’s watching the game at a friend’s, so I can’t even hear him cheer if they score!

I painted my nails while watching Modern Family today. They’re a pretty pastel blue colour, with a little bit of sparkle to them. I like them. Not too long ago, I would never have put blue on my finger nails! Toe nails, yes – because I’ll put almost any colour on my toe nails, but I’m usually more conservative with my finger nails. Apparently these pastel colours are in right now, well, according to my 14 and 19 year old daughters. Hopefully I’m not too old for it!! My daughter’s third dance competition, Dance Jam, starts tomorrow. Tomorrow she has two dances, her ballet and her jazz. It’s in Fort Saskatchewan again. There’s a huge amount of time between her dances, but since it’s such a long drive, we’re going to hang around all day…fun fun! It’s harder to track my points when I’m forced to eat out, especially if it’s fast food! I guess I’ll just have to be careful and stay on top of everything. I kind of wish we had a hotel room tomorrow! Then we’d have somewhere to go during our down time in between dances. Oh well, I guess we’ll survive!! I can always nap in the car if I need to. I did that last time. I didn’t actually sleep, but it was nice to be able to sit back and close my eyes for a bit. My daughter may ignore me and hang out with her dance friends instead, I guess we’ll see. Some of them may leave and come back later, if they live closer to Fort Saskatchewan than we do. We bought some party invitations for my son’s upcoming birthday party next weekend. I wanted to fill them out tonight but didn’t get a chance to. Hopefully I’ll have time tomorrow some time…I’m not sure when! WooHoo!! I just checked the hockey game and it’s now tied! Yay! I knew we could get back into the game!!  Shoot!! My son is awake again! I guess I have to go. Until tomorrow. Night all! 💤😴

Pain Dr.

Today I had a dr’s appointment with my pain dr. He reminded me of how far I’ve come. When I first started seeing him, I was in pain every day, all the time. Nothing we tried would ever work. I could barely get through the day.  (Just go back on my posts and you can witness it first hand!!). Now I can go days at a time without pain!! Is it some form of remission?? Is it the meds? Is it a combination?? Probably the last one!! But remission is possible with TN. So, who really knows. I was tired and kind of bla and we were talking about prediabetes and exercise and things and he mentioned how much better I am from when I began seeing him. He’s right! It’s crazy! Why am I not dancing in the streets. We also decided that I should go off the gabapenten completely. (One of my meds). It’s one of my face pain mess that I’ve been on forever!!  He is concerned about the increase in headaches, especially if it coincides with my decreasing the gabapenten. What was meant for one thing may have been working for another!! He also wants me to start exercising. He gave me all sorts of stats about the benefits of exercise, relating to pain, as well as other things. He said to start slow and work your way up. The biggest reason people stop exercising is that they overdo it and end up either injured, exhausted and/or overwhelmed.  Slow and steady wins the race right??  This isn’t the first time he’s told me to begin exercising, but I have to follow through with it this time!! I need to get more active, to start doing something.

Ironically, I got the “move more” book today at my Weight Watchers Meeting. Which means tonight was my fourth meeting (3weeks in since I started!) I’m feeling okay about this evenings weight loss, another 1.5 pounds gone. That means 5 pounds total in three weeks! Not bad I guess, I had an off week!! I had the nibbles all week. When ever I made the kids grilled cheese, I ate cheese, when I made peanut butter sandwiches, I ate peanut butter etc etc…it felt like it went on and on and, I did track everything and I went over by about -12, but I still lost weight!!  Fortunately, the week ends tonight and resets, both the weekly points, as well as the daily smart points!!  I have to get to bed. I’m doing that fall asleep while writing  thing. Night all! 💤😴

Today’s Thoughts!

Today was bla.

The weather was gray.

I didn’t get much done,

At all today.

A lady came and bought,

Some of my son’s old toys.

It actually may have been my daughter’s.
It was for girls and boys!

The toy was a Little People farm,

With a chicken that clucked,

Whenever you walked near.

That toy really sucked!

Actually not really,

But that rhymed quite well!

So I figured I’d write that,

What the hell!?

I burned my knuckle,

On the toaster oven tonight!

It hurts a lot,

But it will be alright.

This coming up weekend,

My daughter has a dance competition again.

It’s actually from Thursday to Monday,

But I shouldn’t complain!

I booked a hotel for the Sunday night,

Since she dances at 7:30am, Monday morning!!

At least I know that ahead of time,

I’m glad I had warning!

That way I could book the room,

With time to spare.

The other days I’m driving back and forth,

To get us to and from there.
My hubby had enough points,

For a free night,

But we can’t use it if he’s not there,

That’s just not right!

It made me mad,

And I told them so,

But it’s a nice hotel,

That we stay in when we go!

She’s worried about the level,

They put her in!

She’s competing against the seniors,

She doesn’t think she’ll win!

I’m sure she’ll do well,

Regardless of where they put her!

As long as she’s enjoying it,

That’s definitely for sure!

I think I need to end this,

And put my son to bed.

He has a bit of a cold,

In his nose and head.

He has school tomorrow,

So he should be sleeping now.

So I’m going to get going,

It’s time to say chow!
