Easy Day

This morning when I got up my hubby was cooking breakfast. We had bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast. It was really nice. After breakfast I had to go to Shoppers with my son to buy a present, because he was going to a birthday party today. We found some really good deals. When we got home we had an hour until the birthday party. My son played for that time. I wrapped the gift and got a bag ready, because the party was at the pool. At 2:25 we drove to the Aqua Fit Centre and I walked him in. His friend’s mom went into the change room with him. I drove back home. Once at home I did some more reading about Jamaica. I’m feeling a bit better about our holiday. I read a bunch of the comments on Facebook that followed the CTV article regarding Jamaica. Most people are saying that they would still go there. That they love it there. That there’s violence everywhere. That it’s safer with the military out. I just felt better after reading it all. We had to pick my son up from the birthday party at 4:30. My hubby picked him up and came back home and picked the rest of us up and we drove to my parent’s house. On Friday we picked up the USB drive from Alannah, the girl who took our family photos. I took the USB to my mom and dad’s so they could put the photos onto their computer. My dad and I got the onto his computer, then my Mom’s. Then it was supper time. After supper we played a couple of games. Then we drove back home. It was bedtime when we got here. So I did all of the bedtime routines with my son and for myself. Now I’m going to hit the hay. I’m sleepy. Night All! 💤😴

Huh…

I just need to go on a holiday with my hubby! Why do they have to be so violent in Jamaica??!! Yesterday they declared a state of emergency in Jamaica, because of all of the violence and crime. They have deployed the military!! The Canadian government is advising tourists who are currently there to remain in their resort/hotel/villa etc. If they do leave they’re supposed to take a vehicle provided by the place that they’re staying at. If you plan on any excursions, do so with a guide. The government has not changed the advisory level…yet. It’s just really stressing me out!! A lot! I don’t want to be scared on my holiday. At least we’re in a beautiful villa with a gorgeous pool and beautiful grounds. The next advisory level basically says, don’t travel there if you don’t have to. The last one is a complete ban on traveling there. I looked online and the villa is still fully booked, meaning four others will also be staying there. There haven’t been any cancellations. My hubby says we should still definitely go. It’s all paid for and our oldest is 20 and we’ve never had a holiday without the kids. I really want our holiday. So far we plan on going. I emailed the owner of our villa and voiced my concerns. He said that he is there right now and that the villa is located in the Ironshore area. That there have been low crime rates in the area. He said the villa has a security team that check the villa 24/7. He also said police patrol the area and that the local police station is 3/4 of a mile away. So, that all relieves me a bit. The whole thing is rather freaky, but we just need to be cautious, stay informed and only go where our driver and the news say is safe. I’m going to remain positive.

Yesterday wasn’t the best day. My hubby got fired from his job. He has worked at the airport for 15 years. Things haven’t been great, ever since the new GM has been there. She never liked my hubby. They didn’t really have cause, so they gave him a good severance package. My hubby feels a bit relieved (since he’s been unhappy for the past 6 months.) He’s also somewhat shocked and I think he is still processing it all.

I’m starting to fall asleep again. So I’m not going to try to write anymore. I’m going to bed!!

Night All! 💤😴

Containers Galore

I have pain issues, so this will probably be short. I talked with my hubby more today about Jamaica and I’m feeling a lot better about it. He said he has no intention of going out to a bar or to go anywhere by himself at night while we’re there. I’m very very relieved that he said that. I was worried about it. My dad came over again today. We finished cleaning the dining room. It looks much better! The floor is completely clear of clutter and crap!! Because I found a few more worms in my pantry again yesterday, we went shopping for containers. I bought Rubbermaid cereal containers, a container for spaghetti noodles, one for rice, one each for flour and sugar, and a couple for crackers. Whatever I didn’t buy a container for is now in a ziplock bag. So if any more bugs come along, they can’t get into our food!! Thank goodness! Last time there were so many that we threw a lot of things out!! This time I think we caught it earlier. The whole thing grosses me out though – and gives me the heebie jeebies!! Before we could finish wiping everything out and spraying the big killer stuff around the edges of the shelves, it was time to drive my daughter to dance. My son went to a friend’s house after school. So, my dad went home and my daughter and I picked up the other girl from Beaumont who dances with my daughter and I drove them to dance. When I got back into town I picked up my son from his friend’s and went home. We had some quick roast beef sandwiches for supper, then we drove to the city and picked up a pair of Keen sandals that I found for my hubby on Facebook’s marketplace. They are great sandals, usually quite expensive and the guy had only worn them a couple times. They look brand new. We got them for $50. Once we got home we only had a short amount of time before my son had to go to bed. Then I did the usual get everyone ready for bed thing. Now I am going to get myself to fall asleep quickly I hope!

Travel Advisory…

Well, right now I’m in pain. You say, “what else is new?!” I say, “Nothing I guess. It’s just really bad right now. It’s like my face is on fire 🔥!! I just hate it!!” I really do. I also have a pounding headache. I don’t know if I did too much today or what, but I’m just feeling like hell right now. I just want sleep.

The Canadian government and US government have declared a level 2 travel advisory, which means use extreme caution, when traveling to Jamaica 🇯🇲!! A Canadian couple from Winnipeg were found murdered last Wednesday. They actually had dual citizenship (Jamaican and Canadian). It was only the 10th and there were already 40 murders in Jamaica in 2018!! Crazy! The thing is, from what I read, usually it’s gang related and doesn’t affect tourists. Although I guess that they had a house there and they were originally from Jamaica and had immigrated to Canada. So are they still considered tourists?? I don’t know…it’s pretty sad. It was a home robbery gone very very wrong. Very sad. It kinda freaks me out a bit though… I guess that my hubby and I will have to remain vigilant and careful. It’s good that we have a driver for the whole week. He will surely know where to go and where not to go. We don’t have to worry about finding cabs or anything like that. I’m actually more concerned about my hubby. Even before the travel advisory changed, I told him about what I read, regarding the violence in Jamaica and how you have to be very cautious, and he doesn’t seem to take it very seriously. I told him that you’re not supposed to be out walking around at night, especially by yourself!! He just said that he always does that. His friend from Jamaica told him not to walk around at night too. He seems to think he’s invincible or something. I just don’t want him to do anything stupid…he’s a smart guy, but he believes that because he grew up in a bunch of bad neighbourhoods that he’s ready to take on anything. It is just worrying me. I hope he listens to the advisory. It’s like a third warning for him. I’m sure we’ll be fine and that it’s just really bad timing. Thousands of people travel to Jamaica and the vast majority are just fine. Tourism is huge there. I’m sure that we’ll have a great time and I’m still super excited! Three weeks from tomorrow!

Today, while the kids were at school, my parents came over and we did a bunch of cleaning. Then my dad picked up the kids from school. They left right away and took my daughter to dance. I finished a couple things once they were gone. Then my son and I played together until my hubby came home from work. Then he cut up the leftover pork and I cooked a pork stir fry for supper. After we ate, my hubby and I watched an episode of the Good Doctor. It was a good one. I really enjoy that show. My face was bad off and on during the day , but as I finished supper and we watched our show, it really started to hurt and my head began to pound. When it was over, I did the dishes. Then we got ready for bed, first my son, then me. And now, I will lie down my burning face and I will hopefully sleep. Night All! 💤😴

Sleepy Head.

I’m so tired right now. I don’t know why I feel so sleepy, I just know that I do. I really just want to go to bed. So this is likely going to be a short post. But that’s okay, as I had a pretty uneventful day today anyway. This morning my daughter slept in. She’s usually leaving for school around 8:05. However, we woke up a bit later than normal, because she’s usually up early and waking us up!! She’s kinda like our snooze button – lol! Anyway, my hubby went into her room around 8:00 to find her still asleep in bed. Apparently she fell asleep before setting her alarm last night. So we got our son off to school and my hubby went to work. Then I drove my daughter to school for second block. After dropping her off, I went to the bank, then Shoppers. I bought some sunblock for our trip and some self-tanning lotion, I also bought the new Jann Arden book. I have been wanting it and it was 25% off of the cover price. Afterwards I bought a coffee at Starbucks and drove back home. I had my coffee while watching Property Brothers on HGTV. Then I had lunch and read some of the book I’d just bought. I watched another show, called Fixer Upper. I really like that show. I enjoy the couple who are doing the renovations. He makes me laugh and she just has incredible talent and style. When it ended I had to go pick up the kids from school. My son got invited to go play with a friend, so I dropped him off and then came home. My I called London Drugs and found out that they carry bug spray at this time of year. Yay! Shoppers didn’t have any and I did not know if I was going to find any. Jamaica apparently has mosquitoes and they can carry different from the ones that the mosquitoes here carry. I have some partial bottles, but would rather travel with just one brand new bottle, I’m not going to bring a bunch of bottles a quarter filled. That just wouldn’t make any sense. So I guess I have to go to London Drugs. I also made a Dr’s Appointment for my daughter and a hair appointment for myself. Finally, I called the pharmacy. Once all of the calls were completed, my daughter showed me a bunch of YouTube videos of a photographer who takes photos of dancers. He does 10 minute photo challenges and has them video taped. They are fun to watch. After watching a few, I got supper in the oven and then I went to pick up my son from his friend’s. When we got home, my hubby was home from work. My son started playing a video game with him and I went upstairs. This year another class at the studio is reusing one of my daughter’s classes costumes from last year. So my daughter found hers and I took it into the kitchen and hand washed it very carefully. It had a lot of lace and mesh on it and I had to be careful. Then I hung it to dry. When I finished that, supper was ready. We ate supper. After supper, I did the dishes. Then I read some more of my book until it was time to put my son to bed. I got him ready and put him to bed. And I’m ready for bed too!! I am sooo tired! Night All! 💤😴

Jury Duty…Almost

This morning my hubby has to drive to Wetaskawin (did I spell that right??) because he was picked for jury duty. Today was the selection day. He went immediately after dropping off the kids at school. He was in a hurry to get there and apparently was speeding a bit…enough to get pulled over by a cop and given a ticket! When he arrived at the courthouse he was late. He had to register, since the email that they gave him to send his form to didn’t work. He said the case was about child molestation and it looked pretty nasty. He was almost picked as an alternate, it came down to him and another guy, but they ended up choosing the other guy. So Jennifer doesn’t have to go back. The case was starting this afternoon and was scheduled for the whole week. While he was gone I sat on the couch and watched HGTV for a bit and then, when my daughter woke up we watched a couple of our pvr’d shows. My hubby came home just as she was leaving for work. We used the Actifry and made some fries. I also made some gravy and he grated some mozzarella cheese. We put it all together and called it poutine. It was delish!! We watched the movie called The Kingsmen And The Golden Circle. It went right until we had to get our kids from school. My hubby went to pick them up and I did the dishes. I just finished as they got back home. My daughter moved the coffee table in the living room, in order to have room to practice the back walkover that she’s supposed to learn for one of her dances. She’s getting closer, but it freaks me out! I keep thinking that she’s going to land on her head…This week at dance is called Power Week. They all get together and perform their dances for each other. Each dance is done two times. Her teacher wanted her to have the back walkover down by tonight. She didn’t really have long to practice, because she had to be at dance by 5:00 and we were picking up another Beaumont girl who dances at the same studio in the city. I was driving there and her mom drove them home. We had to leave by about 4:20. Which is what we did. I dropped them off and got rewarded by having the opportunity to be caught in 50th street rush hour traffic. So, I decided to take Sherwood Park Freeway to the Anthony Henday. However, the Henday was pretty slow moving too. However, at least it was moving! I stopped at Sobeys once I was in town and then I came home. My son wanted grilled cheese sandwiches for supper and my hubby wanted to make a sandwich out of the leftover pork roast. So I decided to have grilled cheese too. After supper I read my book a bit, while my son and hubby played Zelda together. I emptied the dishwasher and then it was bedtime. We had to get ready at a good time, because we had a library book to finish reading and it’s already overdue and his library day at school is tomorrow. We finished the book and he fell asleep just as it was ending. Afterwards I got ready for bed too. For once my fave wasn’t quite as bad today. It shocked me a bit, but it wasn’t as constant as it sometimes, or rather usually, is. Now it’s getting late so I’m going to go to sleep now. Night All! 💤😴

Long Bath Day

I slept in this morning. It was nice. Once I got up, I sat enjoying my tea, flipping through my Jamaica books while my hubby and son played a video game together. When they finished , my hubby took my son sledding. While they were gone I ate some breakfast, which was really more like lunch and watched The Good Doctor. It’s a good show about an autistic guy who is hired as a surgical resident at a major hospital. It’s quite good. After the show, my hubby and son got home. My hubby had a big lump on his head from running into a fence…oops! My son had a great time! I decided to have a relaxing bath. I got everything ready, but when I was in the bathroom I couldn’t find the plug for the tub. I asked my son where it was, as he likes to hide it after his bath. The problem was that he couldn’t remember where he hid it. We looked all over the bathroom, but couldn’t find it. So, I decided to go to Home Hardware to get a new one. While I was out, I decided to get my Sobeys shopping over with. I was almost home when I realized that I forgot to buy Becel. So I turned around and drove back to Sobeys. By the time I got home I was getting into the bath much later in the day than I had planned. I used one of the bath bombs from the Set I received for Christmas, it turned the water a dark purple!! Weird! However, it smelled wonderful. While I was in the bath, my hubby made mashed potatoes and cooked some vegetables to go with the leftover pork roast from last night’s supper. I had a very long bath! It was nice to relax and do nothing, since my face was hurting. But it was much longer than I intended and they were all finished eating by the time I got out. I ate supper and my daughter sat with me while I ate and we talked. Then my son had a bath. I got him ready and into bed, since he has school tomorrow. I talked with my hubby for a bit, then decided to get ready for bed too. So now I’m going to head to bed. Night All! 💤😴

A Visit At Our House!

I woke up and had a moment of reprieve…the pain wasn’t there right off the bat! Yay! However, it didn’t really last long. My face is my nemesis!! My mom and dad were coming over today for supper. So, I didn’t do much this morning, however most of the afternoon was spent cleaning the house. It gets messy so damn quickly it seems. I try to stay on top of it, but it’s difficult – especially when I’m in pain all of the time! Anyway, my oldest and I did our best cleaning up the main floor. My younger daughter didn’t help much. She was doing homework and practicing for dance. My son was playing a video game and didn’t help at all! But, I let him, because I find it faster to do it myself, rather than have a 7 year old attempt to do it. He tries when we make him and I know that it’s the only way that he will learn. Today we were rushing to get it all done though and I didn’t feel like going at his 7 year old pace!! We didn’t quite finish all that we wanted to do before my parents arrived. However, my hubby wasn’t home yet from work and my dad was able to drive my daughter to dance for me. That was very nice! Thanks dad! I finished the last couple of things with my mom there. My hubby got home from work not long after my dad left. Then my dad got back. We visited a bit, then we played the card game called Wizard. My son got it for Christmas and we hadn’t played it yet. It wasn’t that difficult to learn and even my son figured it out after we played for a while. A while into the game my hubby stopped playing to peel potatoes for me. Then the roast was ready and my mom and I dealt with that and the rest of the meal. Then we all had supper. The pork roast was good! After supper, my hubby had to leave, since he had made plans prior to my inviting my mom and dad over. The rest of us played scene it together. Then my daughter and I showed my parents a show we enjoy watching. Afterwards my mom and dad had to go home. Once they were gone, I got my son a lot snack (he probably needed it because he didn’t eat all of his supper!!) After that it was bed time. We did all of our bedtime prep and I got him into bed and then myself as well. And here I am, sore face and all!! And now I’m going to bed! Night All! 💤😴

Pain Rules The Day

Today was another pain day. It totally sucks! I don’t feel much like writing right now. I just want to sleep. I didn’t really do that much either. It’s hard when you are in pain. This morning I helped my oldest prepare to call her bank and phone company. She was nervous about calling. After numerous calls to both places, the situation was finally resolved. We also called my mom together, because today is her birthday. We sang Happy Birthday to her and then talked to her for a while. Then we did some laundry that needed to get done. I picked up the kids from school and dropped my son off to stay with my oldest, while I took my other daughter to her dentist appointment. They got her in quickly and the appointment itself was also quite fast. I read about travel to Jamaica while she was being seen by the dentist and having her teeth cleaned. My mom is worried about us traveling to Jamaica, due to crime and violence. From what I read, as long as you’re smart and stay in the tourist type areas, you should be okay. It’s important to use common sense and be prepared. After the dentist, I got a few that we needed for supper and then we went back home. I pretty much started supper right away. The kids wanted homemade pizza, so that is what we had. After supper, my son played a video game and, after I drove my younger daughter to a friend’s, my hubby, my oldest and I helped him as he played. We all sort of got into the puzzles and storyline. Then we came upstairs to do the bedtime thing. Now I’m going to sleep to stop the pain.

Pain

I woke up to sharp pains in my face. All day it’s felt like someone has shoved an ice-pick into my ear. I hate this! I just don’t know what to do about it. I can take oxys, which just make me tired and don’t touch the pain. I sit and hold ice on my face for what feels like forever. Probably longer than I should!! I can find some relief if I vape my medicinal marijuana, but I can’t do that when I have to drive the kids! It’s just so damn frustrating!! I hate my damn face pain! And I’m not a fan of the word “hate” and rarely use it. I’m this case it’s true though.

I just need to go to bed. There’s not much to say about today anyway. I’m going to skip the spiel and head to bed.
