That She Tried To hide…

Hmmm…write write write,

What’s on my mind tonight?

We spent the long weekend in Penticton BC.

Because my mother-in-law’s last day is soon to be.

Two days to visit and two to drive,

Just leaves me feeling half-alive.

(I’m sorry it’s probably insensitive to say that,

But, with the pain and exhaustion, that’s just where I’m at!)

We weren’t going to go, but decided we should,

It was the right thing to do, it went (and felt) quite good.

There were ups and downs, it was bitter-sweet,

But it was important to go for our final meet.

She was excited to see us, but broken inside,

A fact she tried so very hard to hide.

She carried such sorrow and shouldered her pain,

Knowing she’d never see us again.

I walked away with those thoughts in my head,

Cradling the words that were left unsaid.

I don’t envy what she is going through,

Never knowing when the end will come for you.

Like waves, the fear seemed to be rolling off of her

Leaving her exposed and feeling so unsure.

A day at a time, we’ll take it from there,

She needed to know that people do care.

I send her my blessings, of faith, hope and love,

She said, “I’ll be with you whenever you smell the scent of Dove…”

Long Car Day -didn’t upload yesterday!

Long drive today and too too exhausted. Sorry folks. This is about all you get. Penticton was emotionally draining and we have so long to go and I don’t want to use roaming costs to write this.  Talk more tomorrow!

A Child’s Words Of Wisdom…

Why can there not be shadows in life?

When I want to sneak-up and say, “surprise!!”

Why can there not be shadows in life?

So I’d see more than sorrow in your eyes.

Why can’t it just be love?

It should at least be life’s first rule!

Why can’t it just be love?

This world’s too sad and cruel.

No maybes, just do!

What’s there to think about?

No maybes, just do!

But how do I wade through my doubt??

Why can’t we just do nothing?

There’s always way too much to do!!!

Why can’t we just do nothing?

So I can spend all my time with you!!

JKC

Why can there not be shadows in life? Straight from the mouth of my five year old son, literally!! Really, the first three lines in each section above are (word-for-word) things that my 5 year old son has said! Kids bring abundance and joy!

So, 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦(my family) + 👩🏼 (me) = abundance and joy

Rewind – Repeat!

Long busy day?

Rewind – Repeat

Feels like there’s not enough time?

Rewind – Repeat

Always tired?

Rewind – Repeat

Feeling frustrated and negative?

Rewind – Repeat

Anxious and unsettled in my tummy?

Rewind – Repeat

Wish I could do more…with my kids?

Rewind – Repeat

Wish and wish and wish for more?

Rewind – Repeat

Hope one day I’ll feel better?

Rewind – Repeat

Hope one day I’m myself again?

Rewind – Repeat

Yup…sorry for the negativity!! That’s just where my head is today.

Zzzzzzz…

Red & Tired Eyes…

My head is pounding and I’m trying to lie on the hotel bed with my feet raised on pillows. My ankles and feet are so swollen that the pressure when I walk or rotate them is so tight it feels like there has to be invisible bands wrapped around my ankles, pulling tighter each time I move. I’ve had it happen before, but this is the worst yet! I bought some epsome salts, foot cream and compression socks at the Walmart. So, I’m keeping this short again, so that I can go soak my feet before bed.

The next few days here are likely going to be difficult. I don’t think there’s an easy way to deal with terminal loved ones. There’s certainly no rule book, at least not that I have seen! So, after a 12 hour car ride we just didn’t feel like we were quite ready to get pulled (or sucked) into things yet. Tomorrow morning, after breakfast I guess, we’ll head over to the respite house to see my mother in law. Well, actually, I am calling ahead to see how she is doing etc. It’s been so difficult, up until now, finding out anything about how she is doing, what to expect, etc. Tomorrow we see how she really is. Hopefully we will be able to make sure that her doctor and charge nurse, or anyone else who may be working with her, opens up the communication from this point onwards. I understand that they can’t just pass on health information to anyone, but we are, supposedly, on the list of people who she has given her consent to have access to her medical information.  Just hope tomorrow opens up some of the doors that we haven’t been able to get through until now.

My feet look like the feet that “the humans” have I’m Wallee…that’s bad…! TMI???

Anyway, I have to stumble towards the bathtub and soak my feet now. Fun fun!! LOL

Don’t You Ever Pause

Don’t you ever pause,

To hear the words you speak?

Can’t you even see

You make others so meek?

Are you really so blind

You don’t see what you leave in your wake?

You call the shots

Anything else is a big mistake

But you don’t rule the world!

You just think you do

It must be sad and lonely,

Living in the bubble that’s you…

JKC

I got my teal on…

Did you???

Huh

Huh…pretty much describes my day. It felt like I didn’t stop all day. There was just one thing after another and it all just sort of snowballed into a long and busy day. I feel overwhelmed today. I am tired and, of course – or, more like because of, the way I’m feeling overloaded, I am in a lot of pain. So stupid. My pain Dr didn’t return my call today, which, for him, is surprising. He always returns my call, generally after hours. I don’t think he ever stops working. He has been a pain specialist for years and he knows that it is always there!! It doesn’t stop at 5 pm, only to rejoin you bright and early at 8:30 or 9:00 am or whenever you start your day! Lol! That would be a dream world, one that I’d move to!!! But, reality check, pain is often worse in the evening and night-time. Well, speaking for myself that is!

Our oldest daughter is currently in drivers training. I know she’s 18, I got my licence when I was 16 and she’s just doing it now. We really wanted to make sure she did drivers training (But it’s not cheap, so she didn’t get it until we could afford it and so she would, hopefully, appreciate it (not sure if we got that part of the deal!) I believe that her first driving lessons should be provided by a professional, not just from your parents, with all of their bad habits! I think most people get lazy over the years and that we start to do the easier things, even if they aren’t necessarily correct. So, she’s had two driving sessions so far, each for 2 hours of driving! He wanted her to practice and she hasn’t much, so we went for a drive all over town, after dropping my  little man off at kindergarten. I kept really calm. She was anxious and hesitant at first, but she did really well. Some of the questions she asked me actually made me have to pause, to make sure I was giving her adequate information. (Or as much as I could recall – lol!!!) I told her to always go by what her instructor says, not what we say!! Not many times when we ask our kids to listen to someone over us!!)

Tomorrow is Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness day! Wear your teal ribbon or clothes and head to Kinsmen Park to see them light the bridge up in teal lights!! Check out  globalnews.ca/edmonton/    Search “Trigeminal Neuralgia” and watch a clip from today’s news. Dr Matt Wheatley (my surgeon) talks briefly & there’s info about where and when to go tomorrow evening, if you want to show your support!!

Please Forgive the little things.

When I attempt to change the font or font-size, it looks exactly the same on my iPad. Not any change at all. Then when I “view” how the post will appear on the site, the font size and type, is all  big mess! So, please forgive the little things, while I fiddle around and figure things out. I’m trying out the split screen again. The layout makes a lot of sense to me. But, so far, I still have the pain in the butt inability to make the screen scroll past the split keyboard, so that I can look at what I’m writing, while writing it…should be obvious! But, apparently…not for the makers of the new “iOS 9.whatever” they never end without making 9 dot 3, 4, 400!!! LOL. Well, bitching about it won’t change things, so, I need to: take a deep breath and……move on

I was late for my drawing class tonight 💆🏼 I was feeling bad about walking in late, I did apologize. So, it’s over now, so, I need to: take a deep breath and……Move On!!! I don’t know for sure whether that will help. I do know that I itend to hold onto the past. I am also aware that I can carry old anxieties and worries and let them eat at me. I need to practice some of the mindfulness techniques that I know would likely help, but I don’t actually use them often enough.  I don’t know why I don’t automatically do so more often. I guess this is a very slow process time for me.  And I’m sorry to say this, but I just can’t think straight tonight. This drawing thing sure takes a long time for me!! Everything is just slow!

I need to sleep…at a more normal time for once! I have to do so many things before we drive to Penticton to see my mother-in-law in the respit home that she’s just moved into. Too much to do!!!!🙅🏼💆🏼And I’m running nout of time. 👺

Rhyming Words With My Five Year Old!!

Went to my hubby’s final football game this afternoon. It was kind of a “gimme” game. They actually played their last game of the year – last weekend – seriously! However, they received a call on Monday saying that the team who beat them had an “illegal player” when they played and, consequently, they were disqualified.  This meant that my husband’s team, “The,WiseGuys” got to be in the finals.  So, they player their – “second last” game today!! (Did you get that bad little joke there?? “Second last”??…) Anyway, it was a fun game to watch, there were some amazing plays and interceptions, but, ultimately, they lost. However, they had fun and played well. Maybe when it’s a lucky game, an unplanned game that comes out of the blue, the team plays with much more relaxed game play. They seemed less hard on themselves, so they came across as quite confident and competent. Then we took the kids home and we went to Hudsons for drinks (after dropping the children back at home).

My little 5 year old man is helping me when the rest of this. We will be rhyming:

There once was, Harrison the black lamb.

He slipped and hit his head, “BAM!!!”

Hi mouse friend, Jack, wanted to laugh.

But he was stopped by Pat, the giraffe.

Then Jack-Smith the fish flew by…?

Huh?? – Fish can’t even fly!!??

Jack started to laugh, once more

While yelling, “what are you flying for??”

This time Both Harrison and Pat

Stopped Jack from laughing from where he sat,

Suddenly from the spring jumped a big wet frog

Who landed, on-top-of, Jack, knocking him off a log.

Harrison laughed, and Pat laughed, and Jack-Smith laughed too!!

I guess that’s what happens if laughing at people is what you like to do!!

It’s An Upwards Crawl From Here

It’s an upwards crawl from here

A bit higher day by day

No need to worry about what came before

Or if there’s a hitch in your step today

Tomorrow you may start once more

It’s an upwards crawl from here…
